Drisk awoke from his troubled sleep, the images of himself from the dream still lingering in his mind like a specter. He did not let out any hint of what his sleep had been like, nor did he offer any explanation for the mumbling he did in his sleep. In fact, he didn't really say anything during his first few moments of wakefullness, for he wasn't what most people would call a "morning person". Though if acting bitter and slightly morose was what made him not a "morning person", then Drisk would also have to be called not a "noon person" or an "afternoon person". Bitter and morose was Drisk's usual attitude, and it didn't change much with the time of day.

It didn't seem like anyone was awake yet (this is assuming that Keladry went back to sleep), and ran outside of the hut. As quietly as possible, he snuck deeper into the forest, trying his best to not step on twigs or dried leaves. Once he thought that he was far enough, he changed into his agile form, feeling the line of feathers on his arms and legs come out of his skin and the wave go over his hair, turning it blue. With the transformation complete, he gracefully climbed up a tree and started to jump from tree to tree, doing flips and other such things from the branches. He needed some practice with his agile form, he'd noticed that earlier when he was in the form he hadn't been nearly as fast as he'd been before, and that was because he was out of practice. Drisk's only fear was that someone from the group would walk into the woods and see him in his agile form.

Lander woke up when he heard movement, and for a moment forgetting where he was opened one eye cautiously, instinctively on his guard. He saw Drisk get up and leave the hut alone. He wondered where the guy might be going, and guessed that it probably had something to do with his secretive nature. The truth was, the way the guy had been acting, it reminded him of a younger version of himself, before he had learned to come to terms with his own little secret.

After Drisk had gone Lander waited a while then slipped out after him, changing into the large brown dog once more. In this form he could smell the other man's scent easily, and followed it through the forest.

Actually, he was enjoying this early morning stroll, sunlight filtering through a canopy of leaves, the trees still wet with dew. His heightened animal senses picked up the various smells and sounds of the wood. Again he almost forgot himself, ears perked up and tongue lolling happily, feeling the urge to chase after every squirrel and sparrow that darted out from the cover of the foliage.

Soon he was able to track Drisk and looked up as heard movement up in the trees. He saw Drisk, but he looked different, changed, and was moving very rapidly from tree to tree. So this was what he was hiding, he thought, somewhat surprised at how the man had changed but with the knowledge that he had been more or less right in his guess.

He let out several barks and low howls to get Drisk's attention from the ground before he remembered that he was still in his canine form, and quickly changed back so that he could speak properly. "Hey," he shouted, "Hey Drisk!"

Distant barking brought Yoshe out of a fitful and minimally restful sleep. Her wounds, though well treated the night before, had made sleep less fulfilling than normal. Even still, she observed with some glee, she felt much better now than she had last night. She dared not touch the bandages on her own, seeing as she had very little knowledge of medicine or healing. Nonetheless, the temptation to peel the cloth off of her extremities and take a look was almost overwhelming.

Taking a look around for the first time as she sat up, Yoshe noted that two of their party were gone, and everyone else except for Eango seemed to be asleep. With a smile, she gingerly patted Eango’s back and quietly said "good morning". She thought he seemed a little agitated, though. Perhaps because Keladry was still asleep? After their discussion last night, Yoshe wondered if it was possible that one of the Ahalad-Kaaslane could be awake and the other not. Still so much she didn’t understand! The thought prompted her to take a closer look at Keladry to see if she really was asleep or not (she also wondered if Athradien’s bond with Bane was similar and resolved to ask him later).

"Keladry," she prompted in a soft voice that she hoped wouldn’t disturb anyone else, "You are awake?" She glanced from Keladry to Eango and back, watching them both for indications of Keladry’s present state.

Drisk looked down and saw Lander looking up at him. Crap. And he was still in his agile form. [censored]. Jumping down from a tree branch, he landed right in front of Lander and shifted back into his normal form, feeling the feathers recede back into his skin and the blue hair change back to silvered white. "Well damn" he said when the transformation was complete. "I suppose it was only a matter of time before someone discovered my secret. You're probably wondering why my hair was blue and why I had feathers on the outside of my arms and legs. Well... that was my agile form. It's a transformation where I become much faster and well... agile than in my standard form. I know that the cat's sort of out of the bag now, but I would greatly appreciate it if no one else found out about this. I would still like to preserve my secret to the greatest extent possible."

Well, At least this is the only form anyone knows about. Three are still complete secrets to everyone, and I fully intend to keep it that way. I suppose it wouldn't be all that bad if they discovered my healing form, and even berserker form wouldn't be a huge loss to reveal. But under absolutely no circumstances will they know about my ultimatum form. That's a secret that I will never allow to be revealed.

Falco awoke with a start at the sound of barking, reflexively drawing his pistol as he bolted up. His eyes darted around their small shelter as he stood tensely before holstering the firearm. He breathed a sigh and asked rhetorically, “I see Drisk and Lander decided to talk a walk…” then added, “I see that at least you are awake, Yoshe. Oh, as well as the telepathic cat it seems. Well, I have dealt with heavy sleepers before, and I have found a rude awakening is the best approach.” He waved his hand in an arc, and just as easily as the hut had appeared, the walls winked away into thin air. The people leaning against its walls, namely Keladry and Athradien, toppled to the ground as their supports disappeared. “Not the best way to make friends, but it gets the job done.” The morning light flooded their campsite now as the forest became alive with the sounds of nature.

Not waiting for a response, Falco turned his gaze southwards. “There they are. I suppose I will go get them. Wait here; I will only be a moment.” Falco trudged off into the forest, following the tracks left by Lander’s large dog persona. It was not long before he came upon the two men, still unaware of why they were out here or of the conversation they had just had. “I do not suppose the term ‘unity’ means anything to either of you? We are supposed to be a team, and considering the circumstances do you think it wise to wander off into the unknown? No matter, the others are waking up as we speak, in one way or another,” Falco said, sounding slightly irate. He beckoned them back to the campsite.

Athradiens ears twitched under his hood, making it shake slightly from its original position. His eyes slowly opened and he wrinkled his nose faintly, slowly but surely raising his head. Bane's head slowly rose from his resting spot, looking at Athradien who was bringing his left hand up to pull down his hood. "Well good morning!" Bane yelled into Athradiens mind, making him immediately stiffen up, his jaw becoming tense. "You son of a-!" He'd have a headache here in a good few minutes because of that, so he'd return the favor.

He brought up his right hand which was balled up into a fist and immediately pulled it down as hard as he possibly could on top of Banes head. A clanking noise could be heard from his scales being knocked together after Bane was hit. Bane growled at him, though Athradien shot him a death stare back. This was one of their normally routines they went through every now and then in the mornings.

Athradien looked around the room to find only Keladry and Yoshe in the room. He faintly groaned as he contorted his back as to stretch it out, moving his shoulders up, then bringing both of his arms behind his head. All at once he released this position and his hands dropped to his swords, slowly pulling them from their sheaths. The blades seemed to emit a blue light from their surfaces, throwing a blue hue around Athradiens clothes as he laid them down on his lap.

Bane dropped his head on top of his paws finally, moving his head and watching the other three, a look of interest in his eyes. Athradien payed little or no attention to his surroundings as he reached behind his back, fumbling around with a few glass containers before he pulled a large leaf out of the convoluted mess. The leaf was a lush green, somehow not having lost its color since being picked off the tree. The brought it over to the tip of his blade, folding it over the edge and began to bring it down the blade toward the hilt. The leaf never once gave way to the sharpness of the blades, ironically enough making a metal on metal noise. Bane's ears twitched slightly as Athradien did this the first time, though they calmed and stayed at their normal position after that.

Lander listened to Drisk's somewhat grudging explanation after he had changed back. Agile form, huh? He had known a few other people like himself on his own world who could take the shapes of various animals, but no one who could change like Drisk had just done.

"Look," he said calmly, "I don't mean any offense or anything. I just wanted to tell you that, you know, I kind of understand...a little..." He made a vague gesture in the air with one hand as if that was supposed to explain what he was talking about, although it would have been clear that he was talking about Drisk's shapeshifting ability. "Not everyone is going to reject you for it. But I won't tell them."

His expression was nonchalant, as if Drisk could take or leave what he was saying. A few moments later he saw Falco coming to join them, seeming rather irritated. He shrugged, somewhat amused at Falco's discussion of the meaning of 'unity'. He wasn't really used to working in a team, and didn't tend to think of himself as part of a group.

"Sorry," he said, rather gruffly, walking off back towards the campsite

Eango watched carefully as half of their little group left to go venture in the surrounding woods before returning his gaze onto his Ahalad-Kaaslane. It was not like her to sleep in past sunrise, though he supposed that the fight yesterday could cause her to want a little more rest than usual. He still couldn't see into her mind, which had him becoming more worried with each passing second, but know some things from her were starting to leak into his conscious.

Pain. Red. Confusion. Scared. The feelings that he could pick up on were now cycling though his head, all were muddled and scarcely comprehensible, but they were still there. This was so confusing to the cougar. There she sat sleeping peacefully as he'd ever seen her but her thoughts were so... disturbing. What was wrong with his Ahalad-Kaaslane?

He barely noticed the pat that Yoshe had given him, so concentrated was he on figuring out how to penetrate the wall in his partner's mind. When the Yaksa looked at him in a questioning manner he gave her a meaningful stare indicating that he, like her, didn't know the current state of Kel either.

When Falco made the walls of their little sanctuary disappear Keladry hit the ground with a large thud as a lung full of air was unceremoniously knocked out of her. She laid there a moment, staring up at the canopy of trees, before she sat back up again and rubbed the back of her head tenderly. With another yawn she glanced first to Eango and then to the Fey that had apparently advanced towards her as she slept.

The woman gave a sleepy smile and took her hand away from her now aching head. "Good morning," she greeted in as friendly a manner as she could muster. She glanced at Yoshe's wrapped hands and feet and then added, seemingly as an afterthought, "How are you?"

Drisk listened to what Lander said, though he didn't respond to it. He had said that not everyone would reject Drisk for it... but still it was safer to just not allow it to be revealed. When Falco walked over and criticized them for walking out into the woods, Drisk responded "unity does mean something to me. To me, unity means being around other people who in the event of a fight, lower your own chance of dying by a good percentage, if only because if they go after your team mates, then you yourself are safe." And with that Drisk started walking back to the camp.

((I know, I know, the post is short. I didn't really know what else to put here.))

Falco furrowed a brow at Drisk Kayne. "I once knew someone quite like yourself. He was stubborn, negative, and prone to running off when no one was looking. Now that I think about it, the only real difference between you two is that the man I knew was actually a boy of only thirteen. I have no problems with your philosophy of comradeship, although I do not agree with it, but I do not see why you are not following your own words. If we are to serve as your meat shields in this endeavor, you should think twice before running away from us.” Falco was just finishing up his rather lecture-like rebuking of Drisk when the trio arrived back at their campsite. Keladry and Athradien had woken up finally, and now that they were all a group again, Falco addressed them.

“Well, good to see you all awake and ready for the day. Last night I believe I said I had another idea as to how to find Zhillcrad. I would have preferred not to result to this method, but I do not see any other options at the time.” With that, Falco withdrew from his bag the luminous brass Orb of Dragonkind. “I have yet to activate it, but once I do, I can observe its magic aura. Once I understand its patterns, I should be able to locate Zhillcrad’s Orb by looking for similarities in the ambient background auras of Aeolida.” Falco was met by blank stares. “Oh, right. I shall explain. I am sure you are all accustomed to detecting the presence of magic, no? One way or another, I am certain one time in your lives you have felt the magic in people and things around you, sometimes described as a sixth sense. Speaking from my own observations, as I realize they may not hold true for every world, the average person can only feel this energy when it is invoked in the form of a spell (which, more often than not, will also produce a visual or audible effect). What most people do not realize is that sense you get from someone casting a spell is always there, it is just not as noticeable. Not only that, there is also this feeling in every object around you, living or otherwise, but it is even less noticeable. Through my studies, I have learned to detect these auras of magic, even when they cannot normally be felt, in the form of my own spell. I call it Arcane Sight, although it is a misnomer as it actually opens up all of my senses to the possibilities inherent in magical auras. The Orbs of Dragonkind should have similar magical auras, so by observing one Orb and seeing its effects on the ambient aura of the world, I should be able to locate the other,” Falco said, matter-of-factly. He did not really expect them to fully understand, but he felt like he owed them the explanation anyway. Knowledge is power, I suppose…

“I must be honest: I do not know exactly what will happen when I activate it. If things go bad, do not attempt to fight any lizards that are taller than the tree canopy.” The last sentence seemed to be a joke as Falco chuckled a little morbidly. With a nod, he grasped the Orb firmly in his hand and concentrated. The brass sphere began to let out an orange light that bathed the area in a soft hue, and the sphere itself let out a clear resonance like a brass bell. Aside from that, nothing spectacular happened.

Without breathing a word, Falco passed his hands over his closed eyes, and upon opening they shone with a golden hue. He looked into the Orb, although his eyes occasionally darted to himself. It was at least thirty seconds before he said, “Its….eerily beautiful,” in an almost sad tone. “Just give me a moment…” One could get the feeling he was not telling the full truth.
