"That bastard! How could he f*cking do this to me!" Al cursed as she threw herself on the booth chair. Despite the cursing she breathed in deep and was comforted by the sights and smells of the place.
"The man is giving you a break, you should be thanking him." Karmody shook his head and sat down at the booth opposite hers. "I can't believe this is your definition of comfort food." "Something is seriously wrong with you. Why can't you appriciate a good pizza place? Besides, if I have to get fired let me at least feel better with good food and not the rabbit food you want me to choke down." She smiled at the food person holding her orders. "Phil! I'm over here!" The young boy smiled and went towards them. He served the huge pizza loaded with everything, a bottle of beer and and a can of pepsi. "Thanks love, how was that girl you dated?" Al asked as she opened the box and took a big bite out of the slice. "Great, we're kinda going steady now. Ya'll enjoy now." Phil smiled as he descreetly pocketed the tip Al gave him. "You're on a first name basis with everyone here?" Karmody said as he cringed at the mess Al made dumping as much hot sauce on the pizza slice as she can. "I've to know the name of the people who give me my hits. He sneaks me bottles of hot sauce when I'm here." She bit off another huge bite and hissed as the hot sauce worked it's magic. "You mean you finish more than one bottle in one sitting?" Karmody asked horrified. "Why don't you just drink out of it. Why do you still order the pizza? There's nothing left of the taste anyway." He took a slice and bit into it, still frowning at her. "I can't chew hot sauce." she said around the food in her mouth. "Don't do that ever again Al, I saw it all happen, my heart almost stopped when you flew right off the roof." Al stopped chewing for a second. The word fly seemed to snag at something in her heart. "Yeah. Mine almost did too." she said. "Hmmm, coincidence much?" He asked as he discreetly gestured towards the door, seeing a familiar face.

Rafe lead the way into the restaurant, opening the door for his sister before following her inside. Typical, she'd ignored his gentleman's breeding and headed straight for the counter, already giving her order.
"Family size, please." F-Family? Rafe went straight to her. "Oi. Are you serious?" Rafe watched her as she nodded, a small frown creased her forehead. Is she taking it back? "It should be enough. I think," Lyca said and smiled at him then. You think?! He turned to the cashier person. "Oh. And you're paying. I'll go get us a table. Thanks little bro." Lyca walked away heading for a booth that just opened up. Rafe gave up. With a sigh, he handed over his cash and got the plastic number card before following her into the booth. "So, what brought you to the U? I thought you were doing research somewhere in the world." Lyca asked without preamble as she nibbled on the customary bread sticks a waiter had brought them. "Weren't you somewhere in the world doing research?" "Greece, sister. I was in Greece." He was a little irked that she cared so little. Lyca coughed to cover a laugh. It was then that he knew she'd been kidding. Rolling his eyes, he continued, "I finished gathering what I needed. I just felt I needed a break and come visit." He paused then asked, "Are you sure you're alright? You were spaced out when the officers left." "A break? Or a block?" Lyca asked, ignoring his questions. Her eyebrow lifted as she smirked at him. She knew him all too well. Rafe smiled crookedly at her. His school boy charm positively shining, and he was completely oblivious to it. To think, her little brother, the genius who graduated even before her with her own above average I.Q. and had set the world on fire with his novels was suffering once again from writer's block. "What was the initial theme this time?" "Zodiac." Last edited by elryde : 09-22-2008 at 10:08 PM. Reason: added in misplaced text |

Steve, laid there with the bitter taste of vile in his mouth, and a raging appetite, for something he couldn’t quite put his finger on, with all sorts of people asking him if he was alright. Grimacing he told his parent to go way, there bodies for some reason giving off the odd pulsing noise.
Sighing he leaned his head back, his mouth dry and his stomach void of nutrients. Thinking about the the day, he laughed. ‘That girl actually tasted pretty good’ Sighing again, he thought quietly to himself. ‘Guess I’m not a vegetarian any more’ Rolling over he tried to sleep |

Al ignored the others as she went through one pizza slice after the other. She refused to be bothered by all of them. Her chief had imposed this rest period on her and damn them all to hell she was going to enjoy it. This was the only thing that was good from the break so she’ll do those later.
She was on her fifth slice when she noticed Karmody starring hard at her. “What?” she said through a mouthful. “I don’t know if it’s sexist but you eat like a man.” He said as he bit into his third. “Damn right you’re being sexist.” She said as she swallowed and licked hot sauce off her fingers. “I’ll be sexist right back and say you eat like a girl.” “Oh no Al, I eat like a gentleman, there’s a difference.” He said as he wiped his mouth clean and leaned back in the booth, giving up after five loaded slices. He looked out in the window somehow unwilling or unable to stomach the way his partner ate. Silence passed through them as she went through three more slices. He remained quiet watching the people pass by the window. Some rushed home, carrying shopping bags, some, mostly couples walked at a sedate pace, lost to everyone else but each other. He looked at the people who walked at neither a slow nor a fast pace. They seemed to be the ones who took everything in... Despite looking so lost alone. He couldn’t help but identify with them. “Okay, out with it what’s bothering you?” Al said wiping pizza debris off her hands. He was quiet for a while, still staring at the window before sighing and looking at her finally. “You almost died today Al I don’t think you realize that.” “Hmmm, did you realize how much you love me suddenly and that you’d want to marry me? Confess undying love?” she grinned and wiggled her eyebrows. “I’m serious.” “Well yes already. You love me. Get in line. Chase gets to sleep with me now but maybe if he becomes an asshole someday like all my boyfriends eventually do, I’ll give you a test drive. Or maybe get me drunk and dress up like Chase. He does this growl thing when he gets turned on-” “Can you get your mind of the freaking gutter for once? God. You’re really sounding like your cousin. Not everyone wants to sleep with you Goddammit.” He was almost hissing every word. “Well, damn it, I had the whipped cream-“ “Drusilla!” he snapped. “You’re too serious you’re making me uncomfortable.” She snapped right back. “For a girl you don’t like talking about your feelings huh?” “Can you stop expecting me to be a girl already? You’re making my head ache worse. If you want a girl go after that librarian over there doing the incest thing with his brother. I’m not the girly-“ “I know that. Just, just wait a minute, this conversation is getting out of hand- Just please be more careful. You shaved at least ten years off my life back there.” “Yeah, it felt like I shaved ten years off my life then too. It felt good though to tell you the truth. It felt great to be up there, flying and all.” “Really? Well you looked like you were flying.” “Thanks. It really did feel like I was.” She moved back a little. “I need to pee. Go try dating that girl over there.” She said as she scooted off the booth. She stood and walked towards the lady’s room. She passed by the incestuous couple and waved at them then froze as she saw herself on the mirror. Why on Earth did she have wings?

Rafe sighed at his sister. She was on her seventh slice and despite the speed of her eating, she still remained clean and polite in her manner. The napkin around the slice, the careful way she kept it away from her clothing so as not to stain...if one just ignored the lack of chewing (well, very short moment of chewing), one would think she was such a lady eating her slice in such a neat way.
Swallowing and wiping her lips with another napkin, Lyca asked, "What exactly made you want that topic?" "Why Zodiac?" Rafe paused, thinking of how to explain without sounding stupid. "Spit it out brother." "I just...dreamed...something." Rafe looked out the window, not really seeing the people passing by. He was recalling the dream. "What did you dream about?" The hair on the back of her neck was standing. "I don't really remember." Fighting. Lots of fighting. Rafe sighed. " I just got the feeling it had something to with the zodiac. It's hard to explain." "Right." Lyca grew quiet. She'd gotten nervous when he mentioned dreams. Hers lately had been...red...lots of red. Lyca finished her sixth slice when the female cop from earlier had waved hello. She waved back but frowned when Ms. Radwell suddenly stopped and stared. Turning her head, all Lyca saw was the people passing by the window. The cop wasn't staring at them since her eyes seemed to be trained at a fixed point on the window. Maybe she saw someone she recognized? Shrugging in indifference, Lyca finished of her slice and faced her bother who'd noticed and raised an eyebrow in query. Again, Lyca shrugged. "I don't know." Rafe's frown cleared when the cop shook her head, turned around as if searching for something over her shoulder before leaving them. |

Jason was not happy, not one bit, weird shit happening today, saving some extremely ungrateful woman, a cop no less who was here, and to top it all off, his phone was ringing.
He glanced down at it and decided to ignore it, it was his mother and more than like she wanted to know about something to do with Damien. Dante was in mid-sigh when his breath disappeared, he stared at Jason with an intense awe. "What?" Jason asked, praying that some sort of angel hadn't just fallen out of the sky or something, not that it wouldn't have been fitting with the day's events. "You're eyes..." he whispered "Eh?" he asked as he glanced over a nearby pillar that for some absurd reason held a mirror on one of it's sides, sure enough he seen what Dante was talking about. He gasped as two brilliantly colored gold eyes stared back at him, they were too unnaturally gold for a man's eyes. "Not human..." he muttered Now you're gettin' it He jumped at the sound of the voice from nowhere, his eyes darting around but to no avail, no one else had heard it. Great he could chalk hearing voices in his head up to the day. His phone was ringing again, he sighed and picked it up. "Hello?...Hi mom....yeah I'm done with work...nah Dante and I are just getting some pizza....no, at that place down the street from our loft....you're where?.....oh......well of course I don't have a problem with that, I understand.....so how long you gon- oh" His voice cut off as his mother was walking it. Walking in tow with her was a wild haired boy, who's green eyes flashed around everything in curiousity. He was trying to touch everything while Jason's mother was constantly tugging him way from the several sharp objects that were laying near him. She noticed the two of them sitting in a far booth, Jason was already waving her over. She knelt down and got the small childs attention and then pointed in Jason and Dante's direction, the child turned and brightened up immediatly. "Daddy!" the child squeled and ran over in their direction. Jason smiled and stood up, when the child reached him he had bent down to give him a hug. "Hey Damien, did you have fun at gma's?" "Yeah! Yesterday we went to the park, then the zoo, and I wanted to see the fishies, but gma was too tired. So we got food, and I played at the jungle place and met some friends, and today we were supposed to do other things but gma got tired again and said she had to do something...." Jason smiled at his 3 year old son, the child was so full of energy it often times took the combined efforts of both Jason and Dante to be able to semi-keep up with him. Damien had stopped his talking and glanced over at Dante, he threw his hands up in excitement, "Daddy Dant!" He proclaimed as he practically all but leapt from Jason's arms and into Dantes. Dante's eyes went wide as he grabbed the child, and smiled at him, listening to more ranting with an amused smile. Jason's mother was slowly making her way over to them. "I'm so sorry Jason, I know you asked if I could watch him for a few days so you get somethings done, but Carol called and it sounds like Mike hasn't much time, so..." Jason shook his head, "It's alright Ma, he is my son after all. Thank you for doing all that you did, I know he can be a handful." She glanced over at Dante and Damien and smiled, "Hello Dante, where's my hug?" Dante hugged her and grinned at her, there had never been any animosity between the two, and Jason was glad, though sometimes he wondered if in her head Dante was just another son to her. He glanced down at Damien who was actively trying to figure out was going on...with everything. He smiled down at the child, Dante was only 3, he had been born after several months before he had tried his hand at convincing himself that he was straight. A nearby college party had spurned him to not only flirt and hit-on a (what he could assume) attractive girl. Then to convince himself further, he had slept with the girl, though in order to do so he had gotten himself so drunk that he'd forgotten to use a condom. Needless to say he left the party the next day, never knowing that the girl was pregnant. He still remembers the day, nine months later, as a matter of fact, Dante was there. He received a knock at his door. A nice older woman stood outside the loft, a small, sleeping baby in her arms. She explained that the mother had disappeared after having gave birth to the baby boy, all attempts at finding the woman were proving useless. Jason had looked at the child in her arms, and he didn't even have to hear the story, he knew the child was his. He had broken from his reverie when she explained that the woman left a note naming the father, and it was said to be him, and asked quite plainly if he would want the child, or if adoption would be necessary. Jason had shook his head quite violently at the woman, she looked said for a minute but then began to explain the adoption process. He had cut her off mid-explanation, "No you misunderstand. He's my son, how could I possibly not want my own child." He had spoken the truth, he loved the child at first glance, and that was all there was too it. The woman had smiled and handed the child over gently into Jason's arms. Jason looked down at the small sleeping child in his arms. He smiled as the baby awoke gently and began to gurgle and smile at him. "How odd, he never smiled since his mother left..." The woman smiled, kid's were instinctually good at knowing these things, she had him sign a few papers, work out a few details and then remembered something. "He...doesn't have a name, the mother never named him." Jason was stunned, but he had figured as much, he glanced down at the child and smiled, "Damien..." And that was all there was to say. He loved the child instantly, and Dante had had very little to no problem with the presence of Damien and loved him almost instantly. The only problem was explaining to his mother the details, the woman who had just accepted his recent announcement to her about Dante and he, but those were merely details. He snapped himself out of memory land, long enough to say goodbye to his mother as she walked out the door. He smiled and picked up Damien and held him up and sat down at the booth. "Want some pizza little man?" The child's eyes lit up, "Yeah!" he all but shouted to the whole restaurant. Jason chuckled, "Ok, well don't touch any of Daddy Dant's it'll make you sick," Damien made a face, "Yeah it smells funny." Dante rolled his eyes as he bit into the pizza, which Damien found funny and Jason merely found cute. His life was good, he had both Dante and Damien, the most important men, albeit one was still young, in his life.

She leant heavily on the counter, staring hard at her reflection. Water dripped off her face and onto the sink as her eyes remained fixated not on her face but on the white appendages that was spread behind her. They were white, dove wings. What most would call angel wings. What on Earth were they doing attached to her back?
No one else could see it. They would have started gawking and commenting on it if they did. She was safe there somehow. Or relatively safe. Was it safe the fact that you saw things other people did not? She bit her lip, her nervous gesture as she patted her pockets for the cigarettes that weren’t there anymore. She sighed and settled for five polos. She chewed them nervously as she examined her wings. She was still unable to do anything but stare at them. Halfway through her second roll of polos she took a deep breath and finally decided to touch them. She made sure she was alone in the washroom before finally giving in. She hoped her hand would pass right through. She let out a whoosh of breath, her knees nearly giving out when her hand landed on feather. They were warm, real and tangible. “Sweet baby Jesus.” She wheezed and made her way to a cubicle where she locked herself in, sat heavily and put her head between her knees as blood drained happily from it. Dear God, they were real. They felt real. She let out a string of curses and prayers even as she reached behind her for them again. They were still there. “Miss, are you alright?” someone from the outside her cubicle asked in concern. “Yeah, just a little, dizzy. I’m, um pregnant. So dizzy spells are normal. Can you please call my friend? Karmody? Table four?” “Alright. Stay put.” “Thanks.” She called out then opened her eyes to look at her hands. She was going crazy. Maybe that shrink was right and that perverted bastard Reg really did bother her conscience. Then we add the crazy now earless bitch Anna. What if subconsciously she was regretful for getting rid of both of them? Her subconscious must be really SUB. It must be buried under layer after layer of logic and rationality because she had no idea it could be this hidden. She made a face. Right. How pathetic was that, her subconscious regretful over Reg or Anna? She’d rather accept the fact that she was going crazy than the idea that she felt remorse for what she did. “Al? Are you alright?” came the concerned voice of Karmody. He entered the room and stopped just outside her cubicle. He lowered his voice. “You’re not really pregnant are you?” For a second his worried voice took her attention elsewhere. He was concerned and for some reason she thought he was also, somehow, scared. And Karmody didn’t really scare easy. She grinned. “I’m not sure.” She stuttered, her voice unsteady. “I was just suddenly-” “Oh thank God you’re not pregnant. Now get your butt outta there.” Her brows knitted in annoyance. What the hell? How did he know she was shitting? She unlocked the cubicle and narrowed her eyes at him. “How on Earth can you sound so sure that I’m not pregnant?” she demanded as she stood up and stepped out of the stall. “You were crying too much. If you were really pregnant you’d be cursing, not tearing up. Now come one, it’s time to get your not pregnant self home.” He held her despite himself as he would a drunk friend through the door. She completely forgot about her wings and sighed, thanking the woman who called him for her. She got into the pregnant woman character until they exited the pizza place. She elbowed him as soon as they reached her car. “I’ve to get a new partner. This is just no fun anymore. There isn’t any mystery about this relationship—” A sudden sharp crack caused the windshield of her car to suddenly shatter. The cracking sound sent them both on all fours as their bodies recognized the sound even before their brains did. “Who the fucking hell is shooting at us?!?” she cursed as she saw Karmody pull out his gun. “And why don’t I have my own gun!”

Lyca was getting up from her chair when she saw Officer Karmody helping Radwell out of the restaurant. As soon as she saw her elbow the man though, Lyca just frowned in confusion and got back down on her seat.
"I wonder what happened? She seemed really pale back there," Rafe commented after the waiter took away their leftover pizza for take out. Lyca shrugged. "I wouldn't know. I just met-" The glass suddenly shattered right next to them. Lyca and Rafe ducked and crawled out of their booth. From the sound of it, someone seemed to be firing at them. "The hell?!" Lyca shouted. Rafe directed his own shouts to the other people. "Overturn your tables and stay on the ground!" Gunfire came from the front parking lot. Officers Karmody and Radwell must've returned fire. Lyca pulled on her brother and they headed for the counter. Was someone already calling the police? Bringing out her mobile, Lyca dialled the police. Rafe pulled her back suddenly and her mobile fell out of her hands and onto the floor. But not before it was shot through by bullets. Cold sweat rolled down her face. Shit. |

Jason smiled as Dante and Damien wrestled around for the last slice of pizza, he often found himself wondering who was the child between the two of them. He shook his head as he went to take a bite of his piece of pizza.
Suddenly the windows exploded in the restaurant as the tell tale sound of gunshots rang throughout the restaurant. Jason's eyes widened as Dante spun around towards the noise as Damien yelled out in fear. Jason reacted instantly, flinging himself forward he grabbed Damien by the waist and Dante by the arm and dragged them over to the service counter. Dragging them to the other side, ducking down. "What the hell is going on?" Dante asked wide eyed as a glass shaker above them exploded. "I don't know, but go through the kitchen take Damien, get back to the apartment and stay there!" Jason yelled as he inched towards the exit from the counter. "What about you?" Dante asked, fear for Jason evident in his voice. Jason shook his head, "I'll be fine, but I can't leave other people here to get shot!" "I'm not leaving you!" Jason shook his head again, "Please, I can't have Damien or you left in here, please!" Dante hung his head and then crawled over and kissed Jason, "Don't get killed, I mean it!" Jason smiled as he hugged Damien, "don't worry I won't, now go!" Without another word Dante was dragging Damien through the kitchen doors. Jason sighed, "Figures, I'd have to play the hero," he jerked as more gunshots richocheted around, "Typical of today..."
