Some god out there must have taken pity on Claire for the moment she uttered her age, Wesley had thrown her out of the limo near the academy. As he drove off, she stood awkwardly on the sidewalk and blinked. Had that really happened? Those tortuous ten minutes seemed like a blur now, almost like it hadn’t even been her in the car. She was truly ignorant for even stepping into the man’s car but fear had won over reason. Perhaps next time she wouldn’t be quite so foolish. The town was still safe, despite the little stunt that had just occurred, and she was almost sure sometime like this wouldn’t happen again. Claire just needed to make sure she didn’t go to that coffee shop anytime soon. Too caught up in her thoughts, Claire hadn’t realized she been gawking for a few minutes until a woman came up to her asking if she was alright. The richest and probably most dangerous man in town had just threatened and technically kidnapped her, she was already late for class, and she had a doctor’s appointment today Of course, Claire threw away all of her inner troubles and flashed the woman a smile. She was fine, she would be okay. “I’m doing great, thank you. And you?” The woman went on to introduce herself as Nana Darling, apparently someone who knew Wesley fairly well. She apologized if he had startled her and even offered her help should he ever attempt anything again. It was a bit odd taking a stranger’s number but Claire took it anyway, gratefully. You never know.. While she had never met Nana in her life, Claire felt oddly secure around the woman. From the few words she had said, Claire could tell she was honest and caring, two traits the world needed more. She went on to show Claire her son and she couldn’t but giggle at how adorable he was. “He’s soo cute! You must be really proud.” She smiled. Perhaps today wouldn’t be so bad after all. “As for a ride, I would be incredibly grateful if it’s not too much trouble. My car’s still at the coffee shop and it’s a rather far distance to walk.” After the nice woman took her back to the dreadful coffee shop, she sat in her car for a few minutes and debated what she wanted to do next. Going against her schedule was something she rarely did but right now, she absolutely did not want to listen to a lecture. Try as she might, there was no way out of the doctor’s but she had a few hours to kill before it started. [@lovely complex]
12:30 Sipping a strawberry smoothie, Claire sat within the warm sun of Cherry Blossom Park at one of the park benches. Memories of the doctor’s appointment filled her mind as she wiped away another small tear. Perhaps it was finally time to say goodbye to Riley. Their time together had been short and sweet but she felt as if she had truly fallen in love. It was incredibly selfish of Claire to be with him though, especially now. She couldn’t do that to him… Claire pulled out her bucket list and sifted through the long goals she had made when she was around ten years old. It was pink and glittery, slowly fading from the many years of folding it up and taking it around. Most of the items had been checked off, only three more remained. Fall in love Although she supposed it was time to check that one off. Ride a Horse. Somehow she had yet to fulfill this silly dream when she was younger but perhaps her parents could arrange it soon. Maybe Riley could even go with her… And lastly, the most embarrassing one of all. Marry a Prince.. If only she go back in time to tell her 10 year old self not to write such an unrealistic goal. Claire chuckled softly. She never thought she would actually check off the majority of her so not fulfilling one was okay. A slight breeze brushed against her wet face, blowing away at her hair. Despite the plans she had made for the night, Claire didn’t feel much like doing anything that night. She slowly pulled out her phone and sent an email to the Red Cross explaining she didn’t feel well and couldn’t volunteer. Only in the case of emergencies had Claire ever canceled on events, usually giving them a 24 hour notice. Guilt tore at her stomach but the only thing she wanted to do was curl up in her bed, eat a tub of ice cream, and watch Glee. While she was on her phone, Claire took a deep breath and sent Riley a text. To: Riley[@lovely complex] Hey Riley :) I don’t think we can go shopping tonight. Don’t feel the best. Hope you have a good day. Love, Claire <3 And with that, Claire finished her smoothie and made her way home where she hoped to stay locked in bed for awhile.
