Born in France, Cassiopeia grew up normally in the 1800s until her 7th birthday, when her inherited witch powers started to show. Her family originally hails from Scotland, but after years of persecution, Cassiopeia's parents fled the pain in hopes of a better life for them and their daughter. Cassiopeia showed an aptitude for magic at a very young age, and it became quite clear to her parents that there was no way they would be able to hide her innate ability. She needed to grow up with her people and be trained by them.

When she first arrived in Scotland, her family introduced her to Caden and his family. They were the second most powerful family in Scotland. Caden and Cassi bonded quickly and became fast friends.
Cassi was introduced to the rest of her family and was enveloped in the coven right away. They fell in love with Cassi, she was adored by everyone and learned from them all.

At sixteen, she was betrothed to Caden, due to be married to him at 18 when her powers would fully ascend. Not wanting to disappoint her family, Cassi agreed to the union. Caden was her best friend; what could go wrong? Indeed, the pair did date and seemed quite enthralled with the other.

For years, Cassiopeia had been preparing for the night her powers would ascend. She was meant to take over as head of her coven, and the only way to do so is to kill the current head, her grandmother. It is a destined right of passage through the female line that brings honour to the family but also shows the other families of the strength in the current bloodline. Upon her success, Cassiopeia would then prepare for her wedding night.

On the night of her 18th birthday, Cassiopeia succeeded in killing her grandmother. The ceremony of her ascension was quickly followed by a service for her grandmother. After that, Cassiopeia was being prepared to join with Caden the following summer.

A week before the wedding, Caden and his entire family joined Cassiopeia and her coven for a week of celebrations. It was during that time that the friends confided they no longer wanted to do this. The pressure was becoming overwhelming and the family's were acting weird.
