With Tooth and Claw

Plot
For generations, humans and the supernatural have been living in relative peace. Some supernatural beings living among the humans and blending in perfectly, others choosing a life of total seclusion, while others still live in something in between the two.

In a somewhat rural area of the south a small pack of werewolves has set up a home. For years everything was fine, only the occasional human wandered into their midst at the wrong time of the month and they were written off as animal attacks. The pack and the nearby town that started to flourish got along fine, trading with them, but warning their children away from the 'strange men who lived in the woods.' But as time went on, the pack got smaller while the human numbers grew. And now houses threaten to push in on their land, and with shrinking space, more forward humans, and a push from outside forces, the tension between the human's and the werewolves grows.

Is an outright war eventual or will tension settle before things erupt?

What I want from this isn't me setting out a plot. I want to let it grow as a collective story, something we all tell instead of me just laying out what I want. Roles are open in lots of categories (see below), and I'll try and provide anything that you need to tell the story you want.

Groups

Lycans

There are two ways to become a lycan, either through bite transmission or birth. Births are rare as there has been no recorded case of a female lycan conceiving and males rarely mate with humans, and those that do, aren’t as potent. Even those born lycan are typically male, as for whatever reason, women don’t survive either the virus or the first shifting. At either puberty or after being bitten by another werewolf, the soon-to-be -lycan experiences a painful, flu like fever which in some cases ends their life. Those that make it through are forced into their first change by their bodies. And even some that made it through the fever won’t make it through their first shift. After that point, the full moon is the only time they are without choice on their shifting.

Lycans aren’t immortal, but long lived. Their aging is slowed massively, the only sign of real age is often an elongating of the ears and bit of the jaw, making them more canine looking, and those that are born are more likely to change that way.

On the whole, most lycans in their wolf form are not excessively bigger than normal wolves, though most are on the larger end of the spectrum. Often size in wolf form is proportional to size in human form. Conservation of mass and all.

The Society

The Society is a group of men and women that specialized in the mythological creatures, specifically in keeping them under control. When one group gets out of control and either begins to expose the Society and those under their control or begins to hurt or kill humans, than the Society will step in to take care of the problem. The Hunter family has been head of the Society since its establishment, passing down the top placement to sons and daughters for generations.

Most Society operatives are human, but there are those among them of the supernatural ilk as well. Mostly humanoid creatures, but others as well work within the Society who aren’t able to be out in the field as it were because of their inability to blend in visually.

Humans
Pretty self explanatory. For the most part, normal, unknowing of any of the super natural things that go on around them every day.

Others
I'm totally open for other mythical creatures to play a part, either on their own, or within the bounds of the Society. Just ask first, and I'll let you know if your idea's mesh with mine. Probably will though.

Settings

Lycans
Over the years werewolf numbers have dropped. There isn’t enough space in the ever growing world of suburbia to allow for a many large packs as might have once existed. Most packs aren’t larger than ten members.

The packs grounds were once deep in the woods but have become closer and closer to human settlements as they expand outward into the forest. There are few permanent buildings , and those that are there are in a slight state of disrepair. Most of the pack resides in semi-permanent tents that most of could be packed and moved to somewhere else though they’ve never actually had to go. Or ever really thought about going for that matter either.

The Society
Their main headquarters are located in upstate New York and have been there for at least a century and half. They have several other smaller HQ's in and around big cities with the potential of small base camps as the need arises. Not within the Society frame, but other like minded groups are informationally connected throughout the world.

Humans
Mostly typically south eastern town. Nothing horribly special of note about it.

Mark is a very average kind of guy, in his youth he was strong and fit, but in his latter administrative years he has lost much of his muscle and strengthen. Average height, bit of a belly developing after years of office work. Blue eyes and short, graying brown hair.

Personality
Quiet and reserved, Mark Hunter is one of the best that The Society has ever put out. Though he is smart, there are times where there is a lack of leadership from his end due to him being easily distracted onto other intellectual side quests.

Brief History
Being the eldest of the three children, he took over the head position within the Society

Marcus Grimshaw

Species
Human

Appearance
Tall, reaching something just over six feet, broad shouldered and built for fighting in almost any manner, fair skinned and normally with a red tint from the sun, light hair. He's got icy blue eyes that can almost look like they're looking into your mind far more then you know. He's handsome and he knows it, but he doesn't tend to use it as often as some might think. Charming grin to go along with his nice face. A few scars here and there and the tattoo of a dragon on his back.

Personality
He's really a bit of a charming bastard. He can be sweet and kind and wonderful, more so when he needs to be, but even when he doesn't (as long as he's not around any of the 'guys'). Marcus is stubborn and headstrong, though sometimes outwardly lacking the thought process to really do well.

Brief History
Born the second son of a not knighted-knight, he was trained from an early age to fight and defend himself. He was often over looked for his older brother but he didn't mind much, as it allowed him time to do as he pleased while his father favored his brother. He was raised with the idea of being a knight, but that never settled well with him and his cockiness cost him the only chance he could of had to be one. Not that he minded at all. He works as a solider-for-hire now for who ever will pay him the most of the longest time. Though he does tend to be willing to work for cheap for the Society, as theoreitly, he is under their domain for reasons he doesn't normally tell anyone.

♦ My CO-GM is the lovely and ever wonderful Lyzan. He's just as good to go to as I am in need. As are your other players. You all are more than welcome to plan things amongst yourselves, just if it is possibly going to be affecting lots of other people, run it by either myself or Lyzan first.

♦ I'm not a stickler for posting order, but please, don't let others get too far behind. If you feel the need to have quick back and forths with one other character, I am fine with collaboration posts in which you PM each other with the convo or what not and then one of you posts it as a whole

♦ At the beginning of your post, if you'd at least post what area you're posting for (ie The Pack, The Society, etc) that would be very helpful. Names of character if you are playing more than one would also be nice.

Jory Mead

October 3, 1980

Species; Lycan

Appearance:
Jory is slightly shorter than average, but stockier. He has wide shoulders and a thick neck. He is muscular but not in the body builder sort of way. He does not lift weights. But he is strong. He has unkempt wavy brown hair, which he never combs or straightens. It looks better unattended. His eyes are brown and he has a big fill his face add a dimple on his right cheek smile. He uses it often.

In wolf form he is average height but his muscular form follows. His colors are darker with light fur only right around his eyes, snout and his right front paw. He snarls that it is his dimple that finds its place on his paw.

Personality
Jory doesn’t take things serious. He likes to play, joke, run around and enjoy things. He doesn’t take orders or instruction well. As a child his report cards always seemed to say “does not work well in groups.” He likes beer and singing even though he has been told the two do not mix well for him. He has been known to howl as a human when he drinks too much. He also enjoys a fling in bed with a new fresh human bitch whenever possible. He does not make the same mistake with she-wolves.

History
Jory grew up in an ever changing household of current lovers and drug deals. His mother went from one abusive male to another outside Baltimore Maryland. He had brief relationships with other children that seemed to find their way into his grandfather’s old house. They never stayed. But Jory learned how to lead, use, and entertain the kids that passed through.
As soon as he was old enough to drive he stole a car and headed out from the south to see America. For almost a year he would find a town, find a girl, and settle in with her for a few months until he moved on. In a rural area of the south he stumbled into a group of Lycan although he did not realize it. They let him live among them knowing at some time they would take his life and feed on him. But fate twisted things otherwise. Right as the small pack thought it was time to feed they were interrupted. Jory was left. The kindness of another pack helped him survive. He was new to all this.

Human
Average height and slim build, he's got a handsome, if not very somber and serious face. Short light brown hair and bright hazel eyes. There's something about the way he holds himself that just makes him seem bigger and taller then he really is. Which has only grown since his conversion and eventual advancement to Alpha. He does though, put on a bit of a show with acting confident in more social matters, but every decision made as Alpha is firm and there is no denying that.

Lupine
A rather common looking grey wolf, on the big side of the scale but slim, much like his human form.

Personality
Life has made him world weary and his expression is normally one of thoughtfulness or sometimes considered angry by others who don't know him. He's quiet, somewhat withdrawn with strangers, but he's a nice guy who tries his hardest to do the right thing and make sure that the right thing is done by others. He's often grouchy looking, thus deterring most casual conversation away from him. Which he's alright with for the most part.

History
The son of a single mother after his father was killed in a bank robbery gone bad, Darius always tried to be 'the man of the house' from a very early age. His actually attention in school coupled with his decent intelligence compared to those around him made school a very frustrating thing for him growing up and he was glad to be out of it. He worked as a messenger boy for a time before enrolling in the police academy, working his way quickly up to detective.

His conversion, like many others, was a result of an accident. 1928. out late near the woods, following a lead, he was shot my a fleeing suspect and left for dead. The former pack Alpha found him bleeding to death in the woods and figured that he was already as good as dead, all he could do was offer him the chance to live. Darius agreed to let the older man bit him and hoped that he would live through the change. He luckily did.

Rebeca Axford

Human
Medium height, slim build with a lovely set of curves. Long, mid back length bright red hair hair and startling blue eyes. She's almost always with a bright smile on her face, and a kind look on her face. Even if she had shorter hair there'd be no denying that she was a woman, everything about her screamed it, but in a soft way. She has the now ruined tattoo of a phoenix with spreed wings across her back and shoulders, the head feather's coming up into her hair line, the tail stopping at just above her waist.

Lupine
Little on the smaller end of large, fur rather like a grey wolf's but with more red mixing into the areas that aren't grey.

Personality
Kind, caring, compassionate, loud, exuberant, and loving. There is something about Rebeca that makes it hard to not be happy when you're around her. She gets under your skin quickly, making her seem like she's always been your friend. The girl is all smiles and light laughter. There are very few who would not count her friend, or friendly, even amongst hardened people she is a source of light.

History
The only child of a pair of high school sweet hearts, Rebeca was raised just on the cusp of middle class. They did well enough to never have her wanting, but the extra little things of life did slip them by as well. But she was happy, and bright and didn't care about those things. She 'ran away' when she was sixteen, though her mother knew she was leaving it was more of just going to see things. She ended up in California not long before giving birth to her only child who'd been unknowingly convinced before she'd left home. She came back to live with her mother just before her daughter turned two.

She was turned in the summer 1967 by sheer accident by her now Alpha.

Me too. I don't know Jory at all yet but I've got this little spark that is sort of yapping at me. I am looking forward to letting him out.
