Markers OOC

Scientists have found a way to cross from our own dimension into a parallel world, to do this they fired atoms at a mirror and created a portal between the worlds, but it backfired and an explosion caused the portal to randomly fire off across the country resulting in a small group of strangers (or maybe even a single group of people) being pulled through to this new world; unfortunately for them the explosion killed all but one of the scientists. In this new world they have many of the same technologies and knowledge, but in the late 90’s a new type of drug was made and released to the public.

This drug is called Markers…

The markers drug is a chemical which will temporarily grant its users powers based off of which type they used, there are 3 main types available (B-Markers, C-Markers, M-Markers) each with a different type of power granted, each type has several sub-types which dictate exactly which ability people gain. This Marker drug is legally available to just about anyone in this new world, sold freely at shops the world over, and comes in the form of a silver tube containing 3 glass balls filled with a coloured liquid. As a person uses the drug they place the tube against their skin and inject the liquid into them, removing one of the 3 balls of liquid, the injection causes a burning sensation as it enters the blood before taking effect.

As the drug has been around for several years the affects and side-effects of the drug are well recorded, and the people of that time have even made a sport out of these drugs.

m-markers = maker markers grants the user control over one of the elements based on the sub type, common ones are fire, water, air, earth, etc.
b-markers = beast markers grant the user the abilities of animals based on the sub-type, common b-markers are wolf, lizard, tiger, etc.
c-markers = control markers grant the users other types of powers, such as telekinetic, speed, gravity manipulation, etc.

also taking 1 shot will grant basic powers, 2 shots will alter the body slightly resulting slight mutations (lasting as long as the drug is in effect, 1 hr) and increase the powers granted, but 3 shots with an hour will result in the whole body changing and going on a berserk rampage.

1- GM is me and I will allocate a co-GM if we get large enough numbers
2- NO god-mod, or meta-gaming
3- violence is coming so you can be reasonable with it… but please not over the top with the blood and guts
4- romance is fine… but please keep it low, I don’t want this turning into something its not

• Firstly be active… by this a mean no more than 3 days without a post unless you tell us first… failure to do so may result in character death/removal, or controlling by GM’s
• Please please please try and get a paragraph or more per post, nothing I hate more than a bunch of one liners. Paragraphs are 3 sentences at least (if all else fails put in details about the environment)
• Spelling and grammar are to be present, I may not be the best but please make an effort

6- if you are PvP’ing then basic rules apply (no auto hitting, you are not invincible, no controlling other characters without permission, both must willingly enter combat)
7- realize that your actions in the story will affect what happens… if you blow up a wall/building then people are going to hate you for it.

Occupation: the only surviving member of the original science team
Personality: the driving factor behind Blake is his ‘thirst’ of knowledge; he wants to know what something is and how it works. When encountering a new person he tends to be upfront and abrupt.

Bio:

raised in an orphanage Blake was without a true mother or father, and living off the care of others every day, so it was that he grew a desire to find out anything and everything. As he grew up his desire to learn earned him a doctorate in his early 20’s, with a career at an industrious science firm following. It was here at this firm that he first came across the idea of the parallel world, and with the aid of close to a dozen other scientist he started working on opening a window into this other world.

After years of theoretical work Blake and the others found a formula that would allow them the ability to see this other world, but the actual device to view it and eventually go there were years away. An so it was with a large budget and facility that Blake and his team began building the portal to the new world, they first activated it about a month ago with them seeing a great battle between two people wielding strange powers before it closed. But the success of the first attempted proved the theory and invited Blake’s superiors to ask for a modification that would allow someone to travel through to this other world.

It was this modification that caused the device to overload and pull the people through to the other world.

im thinkin of making my character a typical Irish person... i.e. likes a drink. is that ok? i'll change it of not.

Occupation: Student – Grace was currently drinking her way through a fourth degree in Chemistry, her other three degrees are in mathematics, physics and literature. she earns her way by tutoring her fellow students.

Personality: Grace is very clever, with an IQ of 198, but prefers to spend her time socialising than studying. She is smart enough to pass exams well enough without too much effort, giving her plenty of time to spend in her local pub.

Bio: Grace grew up in Limerick, Ireland, and moved to Glasgow, Scotland, when she was 18 to study mathematics. She chose Scotland because of their reputation for drinking and she wanted to get out of Ireland.

The last fifteen years have been spent at university and enjoying life, she makes money for living by tutoring her fellow students on a regular basis.

The day that the portal struck she was sitting in her local pub working on an assignment on molecular structure with a pint of Guinness beside her.

description: Allows control over heat. Can increase or decrease the temperature of and object or liquid causing it to burn or freeze at the extremes, but also has fine control with practice. Power also depends on number of shots.

I see only one thing I would like you to change, fire would more be the production and control of flames rather then heat in general... Unless you went 'thermal' which would be a advance level marker... Remember the M-Markers are basic elemental so one could be fire than another ice, but thermal being an advance marker would require greater control and be much stronger

Bio: he spend most of his life studying and mastering his art that of the sword, living alone in the woods at the base of a mountain where he could find peace, on the day of the portal he was meditating and practacing his swordplay at the peak of the mountain when what he though was a bolt of lightning stuck but it was in fact the portal pulling him though
