The Amorph's Ark

I have been working on this idea for some time now but before I continue with it any further I want to put out what I have so far, to see if it's worthwhile and also maybe for some feedback and advice. This is just the idea, not a sign-up sheet or anything in case you're wondering.

I've been doing a lot of backstory on the aliens called Amorphs (who also feature in another story I'm writing) and in this RP idea they feature as the aliens who abduct you, the participant, to live on another world reserved for endangered species. Humans are 7 billion strong, but the Amorphs foresee their demise (I don't want to spoil how/when/if it happens) and take a carefully selected sample of what they determine to be the strongest individuals. As well as the genetically strong, fit and athletic they also bring those with less physically orientated talents, such as leadership skills, intelligence, scientific knowledge, trade skills such as joinery, etc. Every character has a useful strength that would benefit a new colony of humans for generations to come. Just no superpowers please. Normal real skills.

But aside from being a rescue from extinction, you have little to look forward to here except living out your life in some jungle, never knowing how you got there. The Amorphs don't communicate with you, they think your language is too simple, too one-dimensional. To them, i would be like you trying to have a conversation with a dog using doggy sounds and gestures. They also don't think your little pink squidgy CPU could handle the truth of what has happened (or will happen, if it comes to pass)... and in the case of some individuals they would probably be right. No, to them, you might make a good pet, but never an equal. What they fail to realise is that you were no mere ant living in a sophisticated city ant hill. The intelligence of your species far exceeds the stereotype Amorphs developed of humans being insatiable, violent, sex-addicted grease-monkeys.

You have been placed on an island continent that is an odd mixture of Terran life and life from other planets, strangely living together in a working ecosystem. The Amorphs have selected the plants, animals and other life that work best together in a jungle biome. There are other biomes elsewhere on the planet. You will find yourself in a colony of around 50 other humans, just placed there to fend for thelselves and each other.

You can be whoever you want - human trying to escape (or maybe you don't want to leave?), another alien perhaps who was also abducted and brought here, or maybe you could be an Amorph ranger or scientist, trying to maintain order and prevent the humans from escaping.

I will have a map with different locations set up with sites of interest, each containing things, technologies and transport that you will need to escape. You can also make up your own sites of interest and explore, as long as they keep with the spirit and themes of the RP.

Amorphs are amorphous like an amoeba, can float and feed on electrictrons, sand, metal and other trace elements by absorbing it through their ever-shape shifting mirror-like skin. They need to wear super-cooled air-tight robotic suits with an artificial atmosphere in Terran conditions. They are actually fundamentally good, empathic beings but humans are just so alien to them they fail to recognise our potential. They can communicate with each other wirelessly (telepathy) and are highly sensitive to each other's emotions, it's why they're so organised and understanding of one another. But they fail to be able to use their telepathy on humans and other carbon-cased life.

This is really what I had so far, as I said I just wanted to make sure it was worthwhile developing this further as an RP?

As I say I'm still working on the rest, I just wanted to be sure there was at least some interest before fleshing it out fully. To answer your questions the best I can going on what I have at the moment, it will be in casual, you can choose your own race so long as it is within reasonable limits (which will be outlined once the OOC thread is posted) and it will work much like most RPs where you write from the perspective of your character. A map is provided with a grid so that you can say where you are in the OOC thread (even if your character doesn't know exactly where they are). You can also keep track of collected items in the OOC thread. There may be certain locations on the grid that are highlighted, which I provide a plot update for so that you know what's there in detail and can base your next response upon it. Many of these are ranger towers containing a lot of alien loot and technology and even transport, but also heavily guarded, so it's up to you how to approach them. They are conquerable, though, it's just really hard to do.

I will also provide global updates of what's happening on the planet as a whole and how the Amorphs are responding (in story form, of-course). This doesn't mean you can't be an Amorph, though, your character should just be as consistent as possible with these updates after they happen.

I don't want to stifle creativity so the story is in your control, for your character at least, avoiding conflicts of continuity where possible.

Lastly, I have no set date when it will start, but I hope to have it up within the next few days or the next week.

alright thanks,that would be nice,i was thinking that my own race could be a rather short almost sprite like creature,generally green in color and no more than 3 feet tall at the most,generally with claws(they are sentient,their home world of raszabon is mostly jungles and has larger predators that could eat them,so the claws are hooked to allow them to live in trees)and insect like wings,however they can only hover at about 3 feet,so they could be eye level with say a six foot man,their pretty nimble,i was thinking that my character could observe for a bit to determine what the natures of whatever races other RPers decide to have,then it encounters them and so on and so forth,,is that okay?,also i assume your charecter/charecters will be amoprhs,or will you have another character of another race?

I have an 'alien' race OC I could use, but the 'race' uses what is essentially magic; if that's not okay, I can whip up another OC. I'm interested in being another alien race, though, and not in being a captured human. If humans are needed, try not to turn to me.

I'd like to play it as plain old human if you ever get it off the ground. It sounds like the premise is tight and I look forward to what may come.

Well, for aliens I can allow a bit more freedom, they are 'aliens' after all so they could have abilities humans don't have, some even seemingly supernatural or magic (though their abilities would have an explanation, doesn't have to be included, just acknowledged), as long as they're not too OP.

I've been working on putting the last pieces of the sign-up thread together, and also on the map. The map is taking longest of all, though I have tried to simplify it. It's only for reference after all, doesn't need to be pretty... but I can't help obsess over making it pretty! :ezlol: Should be ready soon. greenseal72: I will take the role of an amorph, as well as general OOC plot progression and planetary updates going on the possible story branches I've laid out. They're only guidelines, and things may go totally differently from any of the possible branches, so don't worry about it possibly being too linear.

ah could i change my race to a somewhat advanced 8ft tall incredibly pale race from a ocean/ice land planet,of which they have tech that allows them to traverse their world more efficiantly by controlling ice,like a augmentation in their arm,like ice magic,but not
