Name: Placita (PLAH-SEE-TAH) Crow
Personality: Placita always seems to be the one in the group making sarcastic comments and being cynical, as well as even a little brutally honest. She always does things for reason, whether for her own gain, or someone else's. Secretly, she has trouble making friends and tends to stumble and fall when it comes to social interaction. Placita despises people her age, and hates being accounted as a child. As well as being very clever and intelligent, she learns things very fast, and might be secretly sadistic, since her love for spooking people sometimes takes over her sanity.
History: Placita's parents were unfortunately killed by sickness, so she was taken in by her strange and kooky grandfather. He often sheltered her and protected her, whereso the case became a little obsessive. He never let her go out and she didn't really mind it much at all. Her and her grandfather shared humor that no one else had. At the age of six, she discovered she was a witch and her grandfather kept this a secret from their whole village. In caution, she couldn't help but explore her ability more and it immediately got out of hand. At the age of 10, she set the house on fire and killed her grandfather, and the whole village witnessed the crime. Placita, unknowing what to do, fled to the Devil's forest.

Name: Esme Le Guin
Appearance: Esme is a small but athletic girl with both the build and the air of a boy. Her blonde, pixie-like haircut and energetic demeanor radiate energy and baseless self-assurance. She has a fine-boned face and shockingly blue eyes that spark the cautious interest of many she meets. She tends to wear loose, ragged street clothing over a tight shirt to hide her gender when moving around town.
Personality: Esme is all easy smiles, lilting laughs, and quick lies. She doesn't take life seriously, and she would rather act than think, given the choice. Rather than distrusting people, she largely disregards them. To her, talking is a good way to tell a joke, order more food, or make a sale, and that's about it. She tries to look on the bright side and keep her mind on the future, if only to forget the past.
History: Esme is a runaway. Unable to find a marriage partner in her earlier years, Esme's parents were hard-pressed to keep caring for her. Her parents were disappointed in her, and they suffered as she slowly leeched away at their livelihood. She felt guilty and powerless. Esme had no honest skills she could use to help her family, so she turned to thievery. Pick-pocketing suited her light touch and long fingers well. Her parents found out soon after, but they turned a blind eye to her actions. They needed the food. For a while, they were happy.
Years later, Esme was publicly exposed as a pickpocket. She managed to slip away after her victim noticed what she had done, but not before she had been pointed out in the middle of a crowd. Not wanting to bring any harm to her family, or be tracked down and punished, she left her home. She cut her hair and changed her way of dress to be less recognizable in the town. She continued to pickpocket to buy herself food, and and a kindly priest let her sleep in the church. He did not speak much to her, but sometimes he listened. He would share bread with her, when she was hungry. He put a blanket over her, once.
One night, a drunken trio came into the church. At first they only asked to stay the night, and Esme did her best to ignore them. After the priest had retired to his own quarters though, they began to speak of robbing the church. Esme knew there was little to rob, a fact that weighed on her conscience. The priest kept what he needed for food and to keep the church in good repair, and he donated what remained to the poor. She tried to tell the three men as much. They were startled, not having noticed her at first. Then, they became panicked. Esme tried to pass off their conversation as a joke, but they had already decided she had heard too much. She had heard them talking about robbing the church, and they couldn't let her tell anyone else. She tried to run, but they caught her. She tried to escape, but they held her down. She tried to scream, but they crushed her throat. She didn't want to die, but they were going to kill her.
Her only memory of what happened after was screaming. The screams of just one person going on and on and on. The screams went on for far too long, and then there was a wet, crunching noise, and the screaming stopped. When she came to, she was kneeling on the ground, and she was wet. Her vision was hazy, and she was confused because even though she was soaked through, she didn't feel cold. There was a loud ringing in her ears that eventually faded into yelling, chanting. She slowly turned around and she saw the priest, his holy symbol in hand crying out against demons and reciting scripture. She couldn't understand what was happening. She shakily rose to her feet, her limbs feeling numb and unsteady. She took a few steps towards the priest, she wanted him to explain what happened. He knew her. He put a blanket over her, once. As she came closer, she reached out to him, having trouble staying on her feet. He recoiled from her. Her eyes were clearer, and when she saw her hand stretched out in front her, she saw it was not covered in water. She turned her head and saw what she had done, and she screamed.
She ran. She didn't know what else to do but run. She ran further than she could have possibly run. She ran into the Devil's Forest.
State of Mind: Confused, panicked
State of Body: Uninjured
