Welcome, and congratulations!
We are pleased to inform you of your official acceptance to the Rosalinde Stetz Silver Screen Academy of Film and Theater!
Your acceptance is evidence of The Academy's confidence in your skill and potential. Be informed, this is no small privilege! We believe you have quite a bit to offer to the endless and expansive industry of media and entertainment!
Upon receiving this letter, please begin preparations for your move onto the campus at the end of the summer. You will be provided with living quarters and facilities, and all you will need are any personal items of note.
Once you arrive at the academy, you will be provided with basic information, such as your dormitory assignments, class schedules, and two school uniforms.
Please be prompt about finding your room and getting yourself situated before attending our year opening orientation at the main hall. This orientation will cover several important basics of life at the academy, and it will be highly advantageous for you if you attend it.
Once the orientation has concluded, you may go about registering yourself, and choosing your desired path to follow over the course of your stay, here at Silver Screen Academy!

Life happens. I've dealt with that first hand. All I can ask of you is that, if you know you'll be leaving, please let me know either in the thread or through PMs, rather than just disappearing.

Academy Details

The Academy is very oriented towards the arts; therefore, while it does teach generic subjects like math and history, it does not focus of these. There will be plenty of room for the student to construct their own schedule and curriculum, in order to better aid their own personal goals and fields of study. Refer to the schedule for elaboration.
After school activities will be encouraged and emphasized, so make sure to put extra thought into your clubs and teams of choice.
The Academy is located near the central city, therefore shops and restaurants of the local cultural hub will be a mere ten to fifteen minute walk away, and only a brief bike ride or drive. The bus runs on a regular schedule, passing by the academy twice every morning, afternoon, and evening.
There are regular holidays during which students may visit families at home, or host family visits. These holidays include Summer, Fall, and Winter breaks. However, students are encouraged to stay, and plan their own holiday themed parties, for occasions like Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's etc.
IMPORTANT: There is an annual film festival. This will be elaborated upon in the IC thread.
The campus is large and extensive, spanning over 400 acres. It includes just about any and all facilities you can think of, from libraries and theaters to sports fields and swimming pools.
There is a plaza at the center of the campus, outfitted with a student store (where one can buy supplies, text books, uniform replacements, etc), dining areas (food stands, a bistro, a small restaurant), a small museum that documents the history of filmmaking and the Academy, and the main office as well as the medical unit. Many events take place here, such as pep rallies, parades, and large parties.
The uniform is only mandatory Monday through Thursday, during class hours, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. It changes between the cold and warm seasons, and students will be supplied with new outfits as necessary. Students are responsible for the up keeping of their uniforms, including regular washes; if an article of clothing is somehow damaged, it can be replaced at the student store. They do not have to be followed strictly, and personal embellishment is allowed, and definitely encouraged for those studying costume design.

Personality: Teaghan isn't the best for first impressions, as she is easily worried and a klutz under pressure. Even normally, she's rather clumsy. Her thoughts are usually unorganized and don't flow when she tries to convey her words to others, so she is on the quieter side. She is the teacher's poster child, submerging herself in studies rather than a social life. However, beneath her socially awkward shell lies an intelligent girl whose inner emotions are best shown through music.

Bio: Teaghan began to play the piano simply out of boredom at the age of four. Since her birth, as a Rozeia, she was expected by her family to achieve something great. By the time she began to play, her oldest brother, Alex, was moving out of the house to play on an international basketball team for Israel. Matthew Rozeia had made a name for himself in the national math league by sixth grade, along with nine others on America's MATHCOUNTS team. Her musical talent simply went unnoticed. After all, quadratic equations and consecutive three-pointers were much more important to an upper-class white family than Bach's Gavotte. Her social interactions grew minutely, but her musical talent excelled at a much higher rate. Teaghan was virtually unrecognized until her application to Julliard was declined. Heartbroken and cast out as a failure, Teaghan felt her last, floundering hope at true recognition and love by her parents was Silver Screen Academy.

Other: Desperately afraid of breaking any school rules, Teaghan abides strictly by the school dress code and chooses against adding any of her own embellishments. Besides a rather plain, small, silver locket around her neck, her uniform is rather simple. She joined the Quiz Bowl team and MATHCOUNTS in hopes of even slightly nearing her brother's incredibly high IQ. Teaghan enjoys ice skating as a form of contemporary dance. Off the ice, however, it's obvious she has two left feet. Teaghan is also an extreme germaphobe.

Personality: Rachel is a sweet small town girl. While she loves meeting new people and having friends, she can be a bit shy at first and gets overwhelmed in crowds, especially if a lot of attention is directed to her. Once she gets comfortable, though, she loves to laugh and is kind and a good listener. She loves to act, sing, and play her guitar, and her passion for these activities is far more important to her than getting famous. She'd rather be a down-to-earth nobody than a stuck up somebody.
Bio: Rachel was raised on multiple acres of farmland in a rural area. She had a large family (her mom, dad, and five brothers and sisters), plus lots of animals. She'd always been happy, without any real excitement or tragedy in her life. The girl was perfectly content to keep her singing career to the time she spent in the shower and her acting to the little skits she helped out with at her church, but her friends and family encouraged her to try going big and turning her passions into a career. She took their advice and began to do auditions for small plays or commercials and gigs at local spots until she was accepted into the Academy.

Other: President of the Animal Club. She's an awful cook, but she decided to sign up for the club to try and improve her skills. Rachel is afraid of failure and disappointing all the folks back home. She likes to wear her cowboy boots with her uniform (if she can get away with it) and always wears a long silver chain with guitar and horse shoe charms on it.

Personality:
Filip is a real people lover, he really likes to get to know people. He likes to talk, maybe a bit much sometimes. He is really loyal to his friends he holds near but he is also very competitive and will do anything he can to get ahead in his career. A lover of the ladies he is always on the lookout for his perfect match.

Bio:
Growing up he had a pretty normal life, but then at 13 his parents split up. So to find an outlet to get trough his emotions he took to the stage and joined a theatre group. He loved it and decided that was what he wanted to do in life. So when he got in to SSA he was extatic, this would be his ticket to Broadway! Even though he loves to sing and dance he is straight. He doesn't care that the guys back home call him gay and fag, his brother is actually openly gay and Filip has had to defend his brother all these years so he doesn't care what other people say about him. Why should he gay people are the back bone of the industy that he wants to work in, and frankly are they not more fun to be around?

Personality:
Friendly, but not terribly outgoing. While she isn't shy or introverted by any means, she won't make a point to go out of her way to greet others. Often, she waits for others to approach her. She has a very straightforward policy; if others treat her with kindness and respect, she will give them the same. If she is blatantly undermined or wronged in any way, however, she can grow to become very nasty, with a sharp tongue and a sudden absence of sympathy and mercy of any kind. This extends to her friends as well: those she holds close are the ones that she will walk to the ends of the world for. She can be described as confident and self-assured, though she is certainly not without flaws, privately suffering from low self esteem problems and an inferiority complex that she tries to keep hidden.

Ada truly loves all aspects of film, and often finds it almost tragic that SSA limits her to only focus on particular studies. As a result, she tries to expand her own skills as much as she can in her own time, between studying from books she buys herself, and off campus courses she attends on the weekends. She has worked out a deal with the Theatre Arts director so that she can attend after school rehearsals or meetings, and observe as well as practice the directing that goes on there. In exchange, she takes on the role of an intern, taking care of chores and organization that needs to be done.
She has recently been promoted to president of Author's Ink, (which is a club designed for budding authors to come and share their work, critique, and advice with each other), is currently the stand in secretary of Key Club (the regular secretary went on a three month trip to China to intern under a producer), and is one of the many writers that contribute to the newspaper, personally in charge of a weekly 'How to' column.
She holds a surprisingly strong hatred for the business aspect of the film industry, and she tends to avoid those aiming to become producers. Few people know the reason behind this.
She has a tendency to wear her skirt at a shorter length, with either a pair of denim short shorts or black spandex underneath. She rarely buttons up her coat, and has a tendency to forgo the necktie. She also has a fondness for boots, which she wears in favor of the regular penny loafers that are provided.

Name: Eira (eye-ra) Martine

When not wearing the uniforms, Eira would usually be caught in jeans and a tank top. She also has an obsession with gold jewelry and wears as much of it as she can. When she is in uniform she wears her golden rings, two on her left hand, and three on her right, her bangle bracelets, ten on each wrist and at least two golden chains around her neck. When not in uniform it varies...a lot...but you can be sure that she wears a lot of it.

Personality:
Eira is the kind of girl who just does not care what anyone thinks about her. She is open, rude, and she can be very harsh when asked a straightforward question. Her writing on the other hand is a touchy subject for her. She wants people to like what she writes, and she doesn't let certain people read whatever she is working on because she's afraid they will tell her that it sucks and she won't be able to fix it to their liking.
She is a great friend, loyal and protective. She will tell her friends exactly what she thinks about whatever they are doing, whether it be a good thought or a bad thought. She is honest, harshly so and she knows that sometimes she should probably not be so harsh but she can't make herself sugarcoat the truth.

Bio:
Eira was born into an artistic family. Her brother is a painter, her mother a musician and her father...well...he's an artist in the kitchen. So naturally she was pushed to find her artistic calling. She is a decent doodler, has a knack for music and for cooking, but writing was the only thing that really called to her. There is no tragic ending to one of her family members, she had a pretty normal life, bullies at school, fighting at school, getting detention at school, ect. She got A's and F's, had some fifth grade romance, even tried to join the chess club, until she realized she just was not good at chess. Pretty normal life for her.

Study: Writing(playwriting, screenwriting, poems, novels, short stories, she does it all)

Other: As soon as she turned eighteen she got a tattoo of an old style quill and ink bottle on her right shoulder blade. She loves coffee and cannot write with the television on, its too much of a distraction. She is also deathly afraid of jellyfish, and cockroaches.

Personality: Silus is very upbeat and happy most of the time. He does have a temper that can flare up from the slightest touch of his angry button. He loves his acting and is very good at performing and maintaining accents, doing this quite often in normal conversation. He delights in knowing everything and everything, well trying to at least. He can come of as very serious or aggressive when he is in one of his moods...so...you know, don't piss him off if he is in a mood.

Personality: Seemingly sweet, Joan is very coarse and sarcastic. Also, timid in awkward or new situations. Always perks up when the chance comes to insult someone she doesn't like. Almost everything she says is allegorical. And... she performs a different role for every situation, as part of her never-ending acting facade, which in itself lies the question: Who is the real Joan?
It's all just a game to her. Or is it?

Personality: A bit awkward and introverted. While he isn't the best smooth talker you've ever seen, he expresses himself beautifully with his photography. Though he may seem withdrawn and unsociable at first, he's a wonderful friend and companion, always willing to lend a hand for someone in need.

Personality: Silvia is a kind soul, and a gentle and helpful person by nature. However, she harbors a deep seated unhappiness with her life, a feeling which sometimes peeks through her happy and easy going exterior. Sometimes she can come off as moody, cold, or even depressed. She does genuinely care about the well being of others though, but has a bad tendency to put the feelings of others before her own.

Bio: A descendant of the school's founder, she is the principal's daughter. As such, she has been expected from birth to succeed in the lineage's given profession, and eventually take over her mother's job.
At first, she loved the idea of it, and took her job very seriously. As she grew up however, she realized that, while film was fun, it just wasn't for her. This realization came as a huge shock to her, as she couldn't figure out how she was supposed to tell her family this, the family that had pinned so many expectations upon her. Those expectations began to feel heavy and binding for the first, and certainly not the last, time.
To this day, she still struggles with finding her own identity and expressing it, while still fearing how her family might react to it. It is quickly becoming clear to her that she is far more oriented towards social work than media.

Clubs: Key Club

Study: Has not yet chosen a major nor minor. (It's becoming a problem.)

Other: She is the president of Key Club, and enjoys its activities the most out of all her daily activities.
She tends to follow the uniform rather closely, though wears it loosely, and can sometimes appear sloppy. She prefers to wear loose summery clothing, and often opts for pants over skirts.
She developed a fear of heights at a young age, when she almost fell off a bridge, and the phobia has only worsened since. She tends to get light headed on the third floor of a building and up.

Age: 22
Gender: Female

Personality: Very open and friendly, always willing to welcome others with open arms and lend a helping hand. She's still trying to get the hang of 'being an adult', so don't be surprised if she starts joking around with you like a fellow classmate.

Bio: An SSA alumni, she graduated just a year ago, and decided she couldn't part with the school so easily. She now works part time as the front office receptionist, and can often be seen behind the desk on weekday mornings.

Study: She graduated with a major in stage acting (musicals to be precise).

Other: As an actress, she often only needs to attend evening practices and rehearsals, which is why she has the freedom to take on this job in the mornings. On weekends, she is often less flexible, and less likely to be seen on campus.
If she isn't behind the desk or practicing for a play, though, chances are you will find her lurking through the halls and sitting in on classes, just to see how things are going.

Name: Clare Bussiere
Age: 24
Gender: Female

Personality: Freindly and welcoming, due to her training at the cafe, as she is expected to have good people skills. In reality, however, she can be quite snarky, and a bit of a control freak, a side of her that often comes out around the customers that she knows well. While she can be a bit of a handful, she isn't unpleasant to be around, as long as you know how to handle her and stay on her good side.

Bio: The barista at The Break Side Café. She has been there for three years at this point, working the afternoon shifts on weekdays. Because of this, she knows most of the SSA students pretty well, though she isn't personally affiliated with the school at all.

Other: She prides herself on her work with espressos, often lecturing on how it's an art form rather than a dull job. She is currently perfecting her skills at latte art.
There is an on going gag about her and bikini baristas among The Break Side staff, though if any of them try to bring it up, she deals with them promptly. To this day, the bikini barista joke is still a mystery to the SSA students.

Age: 25

Personality: Open and optimistic, though a bit empty headed. He'll often greet you with a smile, and then keep you around and others waiting as he continues to chat. A bit too much of a social butterfly, he never knows when to stop talking. While fun to be around, it can often get to be a bit nerve wracking when you try to extricate yourself from a conversation.

Bio: The cashier at The Break Side Café. He has been working there for five years, and works afternoons and evenings Monday, Wednesdays, and Fridays now. He knows the SSA students fairly well, mostly because of his ability to talk endlessly, but has still managed to forge several long lasting friendships with them.

Other: Despite being a cashier, he is awful at math. Expect to get drastically incorrect amounts of change, of either too much or too little.
He is often the one that continually tries to make gags about Clare and the bikini barista, gaining him multiple hits on the head. It's been speculated that his airheadedness is a direct result of her abuse.

Name: Aurelia (Goes by Lia)

Personality: Fun loving, sweet, open minded, an open book, afraid to hurt other people’s feelings, smart, charming, social, caring, non-judgmental

Bio: Aurelia grew up with a pageant mom who entered her into every contest she could find (though, glitz only, she hardly ever let her do natural pageants) since she was 2. Lia never complained and was fine with competing in them, but she never cared if she won or not… something that drove her mom crazy. Eventually, Lia’s father convinced her mother to pull her out of pageants, but Lia kind of missed the attention. She began modeling for teen fashion magazines at 13. Around age 15, she wanted to try being behind the camera instead of in front of it, and found she enjoyed it even more. Since then she’s wanted nothing more than to be a fashion photographer. Her parents both support her in this, though her mother would prefer she stuck to modeling.

She would mainly be working in still shots. Maybe for like, a final school project she would dabble in cinematography and create a fashion video of some kind, but it would be a rare thing. She’ll be sticking to still photos as much as possible.

By the time she began to play, her oldest brother, Alex, was moving out of the house to play on an international basketball team for Israel. Matthew Rozeia had made a name for himself in the national math league by sixth grade, along with nine others on America's MATHCOUNTS team. Her musical talent simply went unnoticed. After all, quadratic equations and consecutive three-pointers were much more important to an upper-class white family than Bach's Gavotte. Her social interactions grew minutely, but her musical talent excelled at a much higher rate. Teaghan was virtually unrecognized until her application to Julliard was declined. Heartbroken and cast out as a failure, Teaghan felt her last, floundering hope at true recognition and love by her parents was Silver Screen Academy.

Other: Desperately afraid of breaking any school rules, Teaghan abides strictly by the school dress code and chooses against adding any of her own embellishments. Besides a rather plain, small, silver locket around her neck, her uniform is rather simple. She joined the Quiz Bowl team and MATHCOUNTS in hopes of even slightly nearing her brother's incredibly high IQ. Teaghan enjoys ice skating as a form of contemporary dance. Off the ice, however, it's obvious she has two left feet. Teaghan is also an extreme germaphobe.
