There is a house in New Orleans, they call the Rising Sun, and it’s been the ruin of many a poor boy, and God, I know I’m one.
You begin your story as a human, but no matter what choices you make, you’ll be less of one by the time you leave.
For one reason or another, your life has brought you to the Rising Sun this exact moment in time, and your life will never be the same. The moment you stepped across the white washed porch and into the musty interior of the former plantation, you began your journey into the world of darkness. You will see things many humans will never even catch a glimpse of and it will put your sanity to the test. Do you hold onto your human convictions or do you cave in and become one with the supernatural. This is a story about morality, change and perseverance. This is your story.

Name: June Bishop
Room #: 110
Appearance: Quirky at best, downright awkward at worst, June was born blind and as a result her sense of fashion is a little strange. Velvet dresses, oversized shirts with curse words printed across them (how's she supposed to know?), plaid skirts with polka dot shirts with stripped suspenders, neon green pants, sweaters with giant cat faces embroidered on them and much more can be found in her closet.
Personality: June is much more outgoing than her cousin Anelie. Despite being on the smaller side and blind, she's more than willing to pick a fight with someone if they are being a jerk, though she really has nothing to back that up with. She's more likely to walk into a wall or bush than actually land a hit in a fight. June is also a bit of a conartist, often using the blind card to get people to go along with some of her crazier ideas.
Background: June moved to New Orleans 5 years ago when The Rising Sun went on the market. Due to it's rather shady past, poor condition and a bit of fast talking, June got the property for a very good price and began to turn it into the Bed and Breakfast that it is today, hiring her cousin to help her run it.
Name: Anelie Lemieux
Room #: 109
Appearance: Coming in at 5’6” and built surprisingly strong for such a lithe frame, Anelie appears elegant, even when doing the most unflattering chores. She usually wears simple floral sundresses and has very fair, lightly freckled skin that isn’t made for Louisiana’s hot, sunny climate. She has shoulder-length auburn hair and hazel eyes.
Personality: Intensely introverted, it can be very difficult to get her to say more than a few words at first. She tries to maintain a strict sense of privacy and tends to prefer to be on her own, but if one knows the right questions to ask, she might hold the answers to some rather unusual concerns...
Background: Hailing from France, June offered her younger cousin Anelie a job at her bed and breakfast. Both of them have their reasons for this arrangement: June needs help running the place with her disability, and Anelie has her own motivations to start a new life.
Name: Nicholas Murphy
Room #: 205
Appearance: Nick’s a strapping fellow at 6’, never seen without a roguish grin. He dresses somewhat grunge in jeans and flannel button-downs, but he likes to carry old-fashioned accessories such as pocket watches and other trinkets. He has wavy black hair and blue eyes.
Personality: He’s pleasant and gregarious, almost too easy to get along with at times. When he’s not shooting the breeze with another boarder or guest, he’s heckling June or having friends over or going out in the city.
Background: From Boston, Massachusetts, Nicholas moved to the New Orleans area to work at a friend’s bakery.
Name: Thomás Rivera
Room #: 205
Appearance: tan olive skin, often wearing a nice tailored suit, tall, lean, dark hair and eyes.
Personality: Thomas is very polite and formal upon first interactions, almost servant like in his cold and collected disposition. He keeps this facade up until you're either on his bad side, or (very rarely) he likes you, at which point you get to see his fiery passion and stubbornness.
Background: Born and raised in Mexico, Thomas grew up the only son to a single mother and lived in a poor and crime filled neighborhood. He quickly learned that honest work wouldn't bring him the money his mother needed to live comfortably, so he resorted to a variety of criminal actions until he found a certain niche that he excelled at. Once his mother was taken care of and he turned 18, Thomas moved to America to continue his work.
Name: Jackson Edwards
Room Number: 106
Appearance: Jackson is of average build, standing just above six foot and weighing 185 lbs. He has dark brown eyes and wearing thin round glasses. His hair is black, neck length, neat but with flayed ends. He keeps it parts over his right eyes, having his left eyes sometime obscured in doing so. He wears a pair of dark blue jeans, simple pair of black tennis shoes, a faded green shirt, a large gray colored coat, and a black scarf.
Personality: Jackson has a rather complex personality, having a kind and a rather dark side all at once. He is well spoken and polite to anyone he meets. He tends to keep to himself, being more of a listener than speaker, and usually only speaking when spoken to first. At front, he tends to be as nice, kind, and polite he can to others; whether in a group or one on one with someone. He does enjoy having conversations, which usually is the other participant(s) doing most of the speaking anyways.
A darker side of him is that, no matter how kind and polite he may seem on the outside, he is almost always judging and scrutinizing the people and surroundings around him. He tends to look a person and his surroundings over to take in all the details, and when listening to others talking he is seemingly looking for something he can use against him in case he needed to do so. He usually thinks of himself first and foremost, always out to make sure he can gets the best from a situation. He also takes enjoyment, though rather odd, in experiencing new things with his body, usually meaning narcotics. Out to see what something can do to his mind, and due to such he could be easily seduced by something that could make him experience something completely new.
Jackson grew up in a small town in upper Maine. An only child to a doctor, his father, and a school teacher, his mother. He spent most of his childhood keeping to himself, only having at most a couple of friends; although, never considering any of them as 'close'. During his teen years, like every teen does eventually, he begin experimenting with drugs, and in doing so found he liked what was happening to him. Thus, he began using more different types of narcotics, even making his own. He even stole medicine from his father's office, but was never caught.
At 17, he was experimenting something new that he and a friend concocted together. When they tried it, his friend had taken a turn for the worse and ended up in the hospital. With his friend barely surviving what they had done, Jackson sought to swear off the narcotics and stopped messing with them, and had held onto his perseverance of not touching them, up until he was 21.
After high school, Jackson decided to follow in his father's footsteps and become a doctor, and attended a college in center Maine. He spent most of his time studying endlessly and not having much of a social life. That however changed when he was 21 and after giving into some pressure, went to a party.
At the party, Jackson decided to loosen up for once and enjoy himself. Most of the night he spent socializing with new people, not wanting to touch alcohol or narcotics. He managed for most of the night to avoid both, until early in the morning the people he was hanging with decided to go get high, and Jackson gave in quickly and joined them.
After that night, he had relapsed to his teens again and began his 'journey' with even newer types of drugs.
When he finished his undergraduates, he wanted to see more of the world and decided to go to a medical college in a different state. After a lengthy process of elimination process, he chose one in Louisiana. He began his studies still doing his old antics in a new environment.
With school being on a break, Jackson was invited to go on vacation with others, which he accepted. And one late night of long driving, he ended up stopping at a large building which he found to be a bed and breakfast where he could sleep for the night, The Rising Sun.

Name: Simon Havan
Room #: 111
Simon's overall appearance is that of a handsome young man. He has decent facial proportions, and his hair is a nice shade of dark brown. He has hazel colored eyes and slim nose. His height is an average 5'11 and he weighs around 160 pounds. He has a slim yet durable body which has been toned from living on the streets. His usual attire is his jacket(See Pic), a solid color t-shirt underneath and a casual pair of jeans.
Simon's usual appearance is that of an overly-relaxed character. He is extremely lax and very rarely do his emotions overtake his common sense of judgement. He is never overly-excited as well as never especially happy. This doesn't mean he is sarcastic, he just naturally is thicker to emotion then others. His relaxed nature allows him to concentrate on things carefully without letting his emotions get in the way. A fault of his relaxed nature is that it usually allows him to overlook things when he is not paying attention. The only time he is extremely attentive is when he is asleep, any long amount of time living on the streets can do that to you.
Originally, Simon was born into a moderately wealthy family located in the outer suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. His family was a perfectly normal one, and he had a perfectly normal life. His parents never argued, and he got along with his sisters well. Even he was perfectly normal, he never failed at his studies, and in fact excelled in language and science. He didn't want to cause trouble for his family, so he never got into too much trouble, nor did he ever hang out with the wrong kinds of people. He made friends and lost some just like any normal person. At the time of his graduation from highschool, Simon had begun moving out to go to college. With a goodbye, he left his home and his younger sisters to go on to college in New Orleans.
College coasted pretty well for Simon as well. He had no problems with any of his classes and maintained a good grade in all of them. It really looked as if he was moving towards a bright future. It stayed like that until his second year of high-school. That's when the telephone call came in, it was from the local police chief of his town district. His father had killed his family and committed suicide. Apparently his father had some kind of awful mental-disease that he had for years. Simon was speechless as well as dumbfounded. After the call, he walked out of the dorms and into the night. He was angry, very angry. He couldn't explain it, it was just something that came to him. While he was walking alone at night, a mugger came by and threatened him with a knife. Blinded by his grief and anger, Simon retaliated violently and killed the mugger with his own knife. When Simon came to, the man was already dead. Simon had no idea what to do so he dumped the body into a dumpster and ran away. The next day he saw on television the case with the dead man. Simon lived in fear and guilt for the next month. Finally, the college kicked him out for skipping classes. Simon was left homeless and with nowhere to go to, then he turned to the life the mugger he had killed had turned to, a life of crime.
Over the years Simon, worked as a simple burglar, sneaking into houses and stealing items for profit, it almost came naturally to him. Although, this kind of job didn't exactly have high pay and he usually spent most of his nights sleeping on a park bench somewhere. Simon eventually worked up enough money to go somewhere else. He found a rundown plantation that seemed a bit crappy, but at least it was cheap.

Name: Odette Lefevre
Age: (18-40) 22
Room #: 202
Appearance: shorter in height being 5’5, wavy chestnut hair that reaches the bottoms of her shoulderblades, clear brown eyes, heart shaped face, Caucasian, petite fit frame.
Wearing a floral patterned shirt dress and ballet flats, watch and charm bracelet
Personality: feisty and determined, like dog with a bone once something has piqued her curiosity, she believes in second chances and revenge – you hurt hers and she’s going to destroy yours... unless you had a very good reason and are really truly sorry… , she listens at doors and peers through windows. A very curious sort. She always needs more, anything to feel something, the total clichéd schoolgirl rebellion against her middle class white suburban family.
Background: Odette is in her third year of ‘finding’ herself and avoiding university as best she can. Having travelled around the world from her home in outback Australia, she has found herself now in New Orleans and things seem to be finally falling into place.
Back home with her family Odette is the middle child of three. Her father is an accountant and her mother is a nurse. The mundanity of everyday life has always had Odette seeking more than she was living. Upon graduating high school – a successful popular cheerleader – she took out her savings and an inheritance left to her by her great-aunt and set off around the world.
After a torrid love affair in Belgium that ended rather badly, Odette literally jumped on the next plane out of there and kept on travelling until she found herself in New Orleans. The spirit of the place seemed to call to her and after a perfunctory note to her parents was sent, she decided to stay.

Name: Leanne Morris
Room #: 206
Appearance: About 5’5, Caucasian and long brown hair see picture. The best way to describe her body is lithe.
Personality: Head in the clouds half the time and the devastatingly down to earth the other half is two sides of a coin with each half of her working against her. She is also constantly trying to prove herself to others in every way she can and yet she always thinks that she is failing.
Background: Leanne was born with a silver spoon in her mouth. It is a real pity they had to sell it to fund her entrance to college. Before they lost it all with during the housing crash Leanne was both prize and at the same time a great burden to Mr and Mrs Morris. One the one hand she displayed a clear talent for economics and an ability to slide through social situations that they only wished they could have and yet that was only half the story. This assumed that she was interested in the subject matter or the people she was talking to. If she was not then she tended to zone out at odd times and estrange herself from some people.
For the first half of her life, until her second to last year of high school, she was home tutored. As such she assumed everyone lived the way she did which would get her into problems later on. She was brilliant but rarely applied herself as her parents had always heaped her with praise and everyone else who came around wanted to suck up to her due to her parent’s wealth and influence. Then they lost it all. She was sent to a public high school for the last two years and there developed her inferiority complex. Despite doing very well in school she was mercilessly teased for being so airheaded. This had the uplifting effect of her driving her to work harder and harder but after their fall her parents her never praised again and so she worked harder and harder trying to gain their praise again.
This never happened as they died in a car crash soon before she entered college and she barely managed to make it through even with their life insurance policy. During this time she spent a lot of her time living on the streets whilst pretending to live off campus and eventually formed some contacts around her. Now though college is over and she is driving to New Orleans and decided to just stop off at an old hotel…

Name: Samuel Holt
Room #: 111
Appearance:Samuel is a generally attractive man, though not outstandingly slow. He's a little taller than average at 6'0" and has a lean, muscular build. He has somewhat short blond hair, blue eyes, and remains clean shaven as a habit. His normal outfit is jeans and a white t-shirt, and he's been wearing a dark-grey hooded jacket as of late with the weather getting chillier.
Personality: Samuel initially comes off as aloof or stand-offish, but is nice and friendly after getting to know someone. He's a solid friend and a loyal companion, though it takes a bit to get him to open up emotionally. He's capricious to the point of near-recklessness. He seems to have no set plan, changing his path on a whim. Despite that, he does remain committed to any endeavors he undertakes or promises he keeps and he's decisive with decisions.
Background: All throughout his life, Samuel wanted to be a soldier. It was never really a phase with him. Finally, come graduation, he enlisted into the Army with a contract for the 75th Ranger Regiment. He got his wish. Two years after he had enlisted and had begun his training, he was part of the invasion of Panama. After he got a taste, he knew this was what he wanted to do for the rest of his life... or at least he thought. '91 came around and he remained back in the states as other Rangers went to fight. Once again, he would soon get his wish. The 3rd Battalion was sent to Somalia on a peace-keeping mission. They had a string of good missions that weren't without intense fighting, much more intense than in Panama. Then on an operation that was supposed to be routine, things went wrong. Samuel prefers not to talk about the specifics, having lost a few friends, but Operation Gothic Serpent went down in infamy as some of the fiercest combat in recent history. He himself was injured and was given the option to leave when he was recovered. He had had enough violence and death, and needed a break, if he even ever came back at all. Since then, he had drank his way through major southern cities until reaching New Orleans. Something about the city drew him to it. The food, the drink, the loose morality. The city was enchanting and haunting at the same time. Upon arriving, he quit drinking as much and came back from depression, though PTSD and a reckless streak are still evident.

Name: Natasha Yershov
Room #: 107

Standing at 5'2" she has a slender body which is mostly muscle and weighs in at 165 lbs. Not being very feminine she will never be caught in a skirt or dress. Casually she wears jean and a t-shirt with a sweat shirt, no matter how hot it is.
Personality: During her younger years she was plucky and exiting. But ever since coming home from her fourth and final tour of duty, she has been going through a lot laity. She tries to smile when others are around but the last two weeks have been the hardest of her life and it hurts more than most people could understand. Being a strong willed woman she is trying to fight through it, but only time will tell if she changes as a person.
Background: Her life is pretty uneventful before she turned twenty. Being your average tomboyish female she had nerves stronger than most men, never backing down from a challenge and at the very least never disappointing. While she was not at the top of her class upon graduation high school, she was popular and did have some good offers for collage, which she turned down in order to join the army.
Being from a military family it is no wonder that she joined the army. The thing she hated the most about it is not being able to be infantry, regardless of her marksmanship skill. Instead she was assigned to a base as a mechanic. An over the course of eight years served four tours. Finally feeling contempt that she held the family tradition she was all set and ready to retire. But coming home this time would prove more difficult than any situation she had ever been in.
During her second tour, both of her parents died in a car accident, so the only person she had to count on was her high school boyfriend. When she came home, wanting to surprise him, to her shock there was another woman in his bed. What followed was a lot of shouting and a few punches were thrown, but she turned around and walked out. Now with her few possessions, having no home nor any good friends, she comes across The Rising Sun, a place she plans to stay at until she can get most things together.

The House of the Rising Sun hosts a full century and a half of history and, to the current residents and visitors, it is much more than just a place of rest. Life there paints a picture of impossibly humid afternoons on the porch brightened by glasses of homemade lemonade, the musty scent of antique furniture well past its prime, and the buzz of mosquitoes swarming the fog of the bayou at dusk and dawn, lending to a sleepy mood that can leave you vulnerable. There's something iconic and welcoming in the quaint Antebellum facade, but if you open your eyes and ears to the very soul of the place, you might catch a glimpse of something unexpected… and, sometimes, unwelcome. Use caution when roaming the grounds at night, beware of the bayou, and know a person before you trust them.
