"The Court grew from the Seed Bismuth." ~ Coyote
Gunnerkrigg Court is, on the surface, a boarding school. Students live there, and they take perfectly ordinary classes to achieve perfectly ordinary grades which are important in perfectly ordinary life. The fact that I keep using the phrase "perfectly ordinary" should tip you off that there's something else going on here.
The Court's deeper purpose is the research of "Etheric sciences" which is basically anything that science has been consistently unable to explain. To this end the Court is constantly running experiments within it's sprawling grounds, and indeed many(but by no means all) of the students have some innate etheric abilities. Deeper than this, its purpose and origin are largely a mystery.
The Court itself resembles a large industrial complex, rather than a school, but most of the buildings are apparently quite empty. The court is staffed largely by robots(who seem to have their own odd little society) performing tasks such as maintenance, security, gardening, and even giving haircuts to the students.
The students is sorted into four houses: Queslet, Thornhill, Chester and Foley. Chester is often described as "full of weirdos" and nobody really ever sees a member of Foley House. The classes are further divided into North class and South class, so each year has eight classes.
This RP is based off of the webcomic Gunnerkrigg Court, by Tom Siddell. The story will revolve largely around the students as they explore the court in between classes. This takes place just a few years before the start of the comic, and can be considered Alternate Universe(our actions from the start of the RP onward do not have to sync up with canon). If you've any questions, feel free to ask.
Class: Your house, north or south, and your year( ex: 7QS, for a seventh year in Queslet South). Ask before playing someone in Chester or Foley, as those houses have their own quirks.
Etheric Ability: You may choose to have none, and remember that most abilities are quite subtle.
Bio: This doesn't need to be long, just explain what sort of family they come from.
I'd say doing it about a year before Antimony actually gets into Gunnerkrigg Court would be the best time, what with screwing up canon before it happens.
Quite, but then we can't do anything notable, because it would have been mentioned in the canon.
Eh, or we can just not worry about it. *shrugs*
What age are we going to be?

Name: Kale Jibril Heragha (First name is just pronounced Kale like in English)
Personality: Kale is a rather quiet individual. He isn't introverted or social awkward. Listening just comes naturally to him. This tends to make him come of as stoic and pensive. Kale is also genuinely friendly and makes allies quickly, but very few have a shot at getting close with him. Despite coming off as warm, he's actually very guarded.
Appearance: Kale is average height, possibly slightly taller than average by a negligible amount. He has the medium length black hair, brown eyes, and olive skin that shows his immigrant heritage, but generally wears jeans and graphic t-shirts.
Etheric Ability: Kale has a supernatural sight on occasion. This applies not only to seeing spirits, but truly "seeing" environments and how energy is flowing. It's not something that he has been able to make happen more often, or even explain when he is able to.
Bio: Kale is the son of Tuareg-British immigrant parents from Algeria. He's been raised as British his entire life and has no problem fitting in with other Brits. During the summers, Kale and his parents would meet up with their larger family in Algeria so he could still grow up close to his roots. Every since he was old enough to do more than sit around in the tents, Kale would go to school during the year like a normal kid, and then spend the summer riding in trade caravans across the Sahara through Algeria, Libya, and Mali. During the previous summer, after Kale told his father about a Caravan he saw the night before that no one else was able to see. Without much explanation, his father sent him off to Gunnerkrigg.
I was thinking we'd all start at year seven and just work our way up.
His power honestly seems like a straight up mash-together of Kat's and Annie's. Have you read the comic?
Part of it. I didn't know Kat even had a power. If you're just talking about her knack with machines, his understanding is conscious enough to be able to build something with it. It's really just how already existing things work, and machines aren't really a major part of it. His insight mostly applies to people, groups, and the like.
She does, there's something going on with her but it's unclear what at this point. Actually the chapter that's running right now might answer that.
But it shows things from her point of view once, and she's looking at machines and animals and stuff and watching them deconstruct so she can learn about them.
Anyway, the reason I see it as an issue is because this world has a sort of tech vs magic type deal going on, and your power combines both.
Alright, I adjusted it so it fall more one one side. Better?
Now that's more like it. Approved.
I did say screw up canon before it happens. So yeah. Lets not worry about it.
