Fantastic Force (Private RP)
As he put the finishing touches on the details onto the report, Reed Richards could hear the dull audible ticking the clock on the nearby wall. It was that moment where it felt like no matter what, you could swear it was getting louder and louder. Sighing, thanking the high heavens that he would be done in moments, and be able to go out on a movie date with Susan Storm. As he signed the paperwork Reed placed the clipboard and pen down on the table. Beginning to take off the lab coat he was assigned and using his name card to unlock the door of the lab as he started to leave.
Having a job which didn’t pay wasn’t something Reed was overly happy about, and something his dad hated quite vocally. However having this internship with Oscorp was a major deal for Reed personally. In exchange for a year of service, the company was giving him a full four year scholarship to Empire State University. His family didn’t have too much money to its name, so being able to take this burden off their shoulders would be great. As Reed got to the employee area where he put his lab coat away in the specific locker. There was the ding from the speakers followed with “Will Mr. Reed Richards please report to Osborn’s office, Reed Richards to Osborn’s office.” from that same dull female voice. However the message was something notable, very notable. Reed felt his stomach knot itself up as he closed his locker.
Norman Osborn was sitting at his desk, even at this late hour, seemingly going over paper work as Red came into the rather lavish office. Noting the large muscular man next to Norman’s desk who wasted no time eying Nathan as he came in. “Mr. Richards, welcome. I hope I didn’t catch you at an inconvenient moment.” Osborn stated before looking up, first to Reed and then to the large man. “Alekski...” Norman made a two finger gesture to the door. The large presumably Russian man nodded, before leaving. “I was just about to clock out for the night actually, but it’s no problem really.” Reed stated, deep down praying this won’t take long. Not just since he didn’t want to keep Susan waiting, but because genuinely Norman Osborn, even when he was being nice, is just a hard person to be around without being nervous. “Well I’ll keep this brief than Mr. Richards.” Norman began, gesturing to Reed to take a seat at one of the leather chairs facing his desk. Reed sat down, feeling the chair and how expensive it had to be. “Now as you know, your time with us is starting to come to an end. We of course will happily hold our end of the deal and ensure after high school you’ll get the full four years college. However what I wanted to bring up with you Mr. Richards was the possibility of after college perhaps... joining Oscorp on a more full-time basis.” Reed felt a lump gather in his throat. “We’ve been making strides in numerous fields over the years, as I’m sure your aware. But we need a man of your extraordinary intelligence to really be able to reach the next level of studies. If you join us I can promise nothing but the highest level of pay someone in your field could earn, the best benefits. You would be treated like a rock star here.” Reed glanced away, awkwardly fiddling with his glasses. “Well I appreciate the offer, really I do.” Reed coughed. “However I really can’t give you an answer just yet, I would like to explore my options post-college on my own if that’s fine.” Norman’s smile in a slow, smooth movement began to curl downwards. “While I do have to respect your feelings on the subject.” He began, tone changed. “I would like to remind you of the college payments we will be making for you. I would hate to think this is how you treat those who feed you.” The tone, the voice that Norman used, still professional, had that seething venom behind it. Reed, feeling very uncomfortable, began to stand up from the chair. “Well I’ll think about it... with you uh... putting it that way.” Reed felt uncomfortable, very uncomfortable. He needed to get away from the room immediately. “Look we should talk about it another time, right now though I really need to head out, I have a date.” Norman eyed him, narrowing at Reed before he made a simple wave of his hand. Watching Reed leave almost stumbling at the door.
