Building a settlement
So Im new here, I have been GM of role plays before but it's been a while so I'm a little rusty. But I would like to start Role playing again and I have been mulling this idea around for a while and before I really hammer out a write up I thought I'd see if there is any interest.
My idea is this, we are a group chosen by our king make the first perminant establishment on the newly discovered Western Continent. We are the leaders and a group of 500 men and women chosen by the king and his group of advisors, all able bodied mostly young people from the military and the younger sons and daughters from the prominent artisans and farmers of our country. We leave be before the announcement of the continent is released to our to the other countries of the homeland. So we have a running start on the Western Continant before the others.
The new Continant was visted by a group of explorers who took notes of the men and and beasts who roam the lands. Cities dotted the landscape but they were much different than those home, they were small, lead by independent governments, each city focused on farming and and trading. But war was an interval part of life, in the summer months after the crops had been sown it was common for these communities to attack eachother over vendetta between eachother or sometimes unprovoked for cattle and occasionally land. There religion was different from that of our pele, they worshiped many gods, each village having a specific few they worship to above the other sand wil often trade for blessings from the holy men of other tribes. They also had custome for celebrations, they hold lavish feasts, inviting neighboring tribes celebrating weddings or trade agreements between tribes.
Other men lived in nomadic tribes going from place to place trading services for goods. Some were religious and traded for magic or belssings, others were warrior groups who traded there services, some were just merchants and traveled with minstrels and bards.
The beasts of the Western Continent were fearsome, not only were there horses wolves, giant cats, we have never encountered before, dragons fly occasianal the sky in the autum months and attack human settlements, giant fearsome yetis in the mountaintsd, mindless undead corpses roam the great swamp in the south, giant crabs roam the areas of the coast, in the great wood to the north there are tales of beast men half man half beasts
Our settlement was procured to us by the original group of explorers found the continent, they traded for land from several local tribes and followed the customs they had established a perminant settlement, A wooden Fort was built by they explorers during the year they spent here, it is a small wooden structure near the shore, close to it sits a dock built far out into the ocean enough for the large trading vessels of our homeland.
The Rp starts witha arrival of our ships arrive to the settlement, our characters would be the leaders chosen and focus on us establishing the colony, dealing with the locals, and exploring the new land.p and dealing with any crisis that occur
So if anyone is interested let me know and I'll start transforming this into a real write up

Awesome glad to see there was some interest so fast, I'm working on a write up. My plan for characters was to come up with a council with seats governing key areas of the tribe, and people create a character for the seat they would lIke so your on the right track ActRaiser

This seems interesting. Are you thinking that we just play settlers or can we play natives?
