All of adventure time is vaguely referencing DnD in some way pretty much. The guys behind it are HUGE DnD nerds, and the show itself constantly refers to Finn as a paladin.

The trapper is a very obscure old DnD1 monster.

It was nice to see it.

Later times it was put in the books, it was changed or fused with other things like it to make weirder things.
