the clan Was never originally the Clan they were part of the Inner Sphere in which there were multiple Factions including:
The Lyran Allaince (also known as House Steiner)
Federated CommonWealth (also known as House Davion)
Draconis Combine (also known as house Kurtira)
Free World's league, (House Marik)
and
The Capellan Confederation (also known as House Liao)
these are known as the inner sphere houses.
All these were centered around one planet Earth..
These Houses at one point to feign from any extra terrestrial threats and to keep each other in order banded together to make the Star league defense force.. However the houses would fight each other for anything basically and had multiple wars. The star league was being told to take sides at one point, but the leader of the Star League defense force seeing the destruction of the houses left to the peripherary (outside of where anyone dared to go or wanted to go so outside territories of the houses mostly where space pirates hung out.. this was known as the Exodus)
It is there that they set up their own home, but leaders with Alexander Kerensky would be against him as time went on thus leading to a second Exodus, and a third. Throughout time the Clan's found a way to act mostly peaceful with each other with their one goal of returning to their homes and ruling it. One side thought that they had to destroy the inner sphere to save it from itself. These were the Crusader clans, While others believed it was their duty to wait for when the inner sphere needed them to come in and take control these were known as Warden Clan's.
One of the most powerful Warden Clan's was Clan Wolf. Now in Clan eyes if you were a great warrior your last name be taken and given to another who was an excellent warrior, this was known as a bloodname, however the Clan's technology grew while the Inner sphere's declined. In the Clan's technological growth they found a way to take the DNA of a man and a women and put them together in the sybiku (or iron womb). this would lead to the Clan having the idea to make the perfect warriors, these were called trueborns. The trueborns are thought to be superior in every way then freebirths wether they are a trueborn warrior, or scientist.
In the clan society only people of greatness could have last names or bloodnames, you would have to earn them to get it. Clan society is as well a Caste society, however you do have the chance to go up it, The clans believe in Fate, destiny, and honor, so if you were able to make it to ahigher caste then it was your fate and destiny.
The leader of each clan is called an Khan, all the Khans gather together for important issues to discuss things about ALL of the clan (the leader of all the Khans was known as the Ilkhan or the Khan of Khans), one thing was the birthright name of Alexander Kerensky the one that was almost worshipped by the clan. So they had a trial (which is a Mech battle) to see who would earn the right of the bloodname of Kerensky to be apart of their clan, in the end Clan Wolf won this right, and since then only the greatest have been given the bloodname of kerensky.
After hundreds of years the inner sphere forgot about the star league defense force and let their own history and technology decline, until there seemed to be a disssapearing of people and scientists throughout the inner sphere, thought to be just an act of war against each other they all started to retaliate more. However it was the clan who would come and take them and probe them for information. Here is where we come in.
