Daybreakers OOC

A disease spread across humanity faster than any in history. Symptoms of this disease were characteristic of what many cultures had referred to as "vampires" which led scientists to believe that this disease had already plagued humans once before. Within 3 weeks, the majority of humankind was swept out. They had all either caught the disease or were consumed by the thirsty. What was left had been caged like animals and tested and used only for their blood. Life continued on almost as normal. Humans became nocturnal; their homes and their cars were equipped with the strongest of sun guards. They lived on alternatives, "Second Choice" it was called. It was blood that had been recreated in a lab. It gave all the proper nutrients, but wasn't satisfying. The rich could always afford the real stuff, for a price, of course.

It has now been over 250 years since the outbreak. Humans have been gone for years; all that was left was enough DNA and such to find a cure. Suddenly, a cure is available worldwide: the chance to be human again. The problem, however, is that not everyone wants to be cured. Can humans and the diseased now co-exist?


Symptoms of the disease include: red eyes, pale complexion, lack of aging, need for blood, unable to eat regular food

Personality: Chris is kind of quiet and not easily angered. He always has something on his mind and rarely speaks it.
Background: Chris was bitten when he was a younger child and never really dealt with killing very well. He really doesn't want to be cured, but if he were talked into it, he would probably take the shot of whatever the hell was in the meds (according to him). Chris has tried to fit in with humans AND vampires both, and no one really accepted him, so he attempts to find friends whenever he can.
Extra: Is scared shitless of spiders.

Background: Melanie was a part of the team who found the disease. When the disease first broke out, Melanie was unable to control herself and killed her fiancée of the time. She then dedicated her life to finding the cure. Melanie, however, knows better than to get the cure; she always said that getting it was like willing to become a sitting duck. The world was too new and unsafe for humans.

Personality: Melanie enjoys her disease and the option of living forever. She's a hardworker and is often too serious about situations.
