Survival, Among Other Things (OOC)
You sit down to rest for the first time all day; you've been up, and at it since 06:00AM - it's 10:00PM now. You sigh, looking out your window, exasperated from today's events, when the calender catches your eye: "August 9, 2243." You remember that today was the day you were supposed to listen to the that compact disc that arrived in the mail last week. You wanted to listen to it earlier, but your schedule wouldn't allow it; between the newborn, the demanding job, and the time required to eat, sleep, and bathe? How could you find the time? But you planned for this, it's finally time to kick your feet up, and delve into that mysterious CD.
You dig out your old CD player, and you're suddenly taken aback by an inexpicable, and ethereal sense of nostalgia. You can almost see the buzzing metropolis of New York City before the outbreak; millions of people swarming the streets, vibrant lights cascading the walls around you, the buzz of traffic giving you an oddly familiar sense of comfort. You come back to Earth...you know that this isn't the world you live in; you know all about "the outbreak" that took place 230 years ago, and killed off your ancestors, and you know even more about the times that followed: your great, great grandfather, and his intrepid, heroic friends saved the world as we know it. They disassembled the extremist religious group that threatened to completely wipe out humanity, they took the first steps in repopulating an almost lifeless world, and recolonized the entirety of South America. You take pride in knowing that you are a direct descendent of these people, and for some reason, you can't help but believe that this CD has something to do with them. You place the CD in the tray and shut it. The audio is as follows.
"My name is uh...my name is Damian Blackwater. The time is... (Pause) 6:03AM. I think it's...I think it might be Wednesday. I'm not sure... (Pause) from the look of the sky, it's probably...probably around September. The year is...2063. None of this matters now, though...everyone's gone. Everyone. It's just me, and my friends. We're all that's left; 5 of us. We left 15 other people behind to find a uh...a fucking phantom refugee camp. (Pause) I ask myself questions like, 'How did humanity get here? How in the fuck did this happen?' But then I realize that I'm asking the wrong questions; I can kick, and scream until I'm blue in the face, but reminiscing won't do me any good. I've learned that the correct questions are, 'What do we do next? Where are we going now?' But I have to tell you...sometimes I feel like the answers to those questions don't matter either.
We've been traveling for about...3 and 1/2 months now. We started out just the 4 of us, but we found some people along the way. (Pause) if my map's right, then...we're in uh...Mexico City. We've got enough water, between the 6 of us, for another... (Pause) week and a half. I'll take the time to uh...to tell you about everything we've seen. All that we've done...if you ever find this, then...let me tell you that I'm sorry. I'm sorry that we failed you. I'm sorry that I failed you. I'm sorry that we couldn't do better. (Pause) (Sigh) You deserved better..."
The tape ends.

RULES
Combat is as follows:
You state your attack, and leave it open for the victim to react.
If you attack somebody, you must have sufficient reason, and must be prepared to explain such in a private message to me, or CavalierTunes.
If you have sufficient reason to shoot somebody, then do so. If you are 5 feet away from them, and state shooting them in the head (without any obvious impediments, i.e. sandstorm, or absence of limbs lol), then they die. Simple. They may, however, dodge/block the attack that would otherwise connect, or kill if they can explain why they were able to do this, i.e. anticipation.
This game is based almost entirely on survival, and thusly logic.
