City of Heroes: Ultropolis

The City of Ultropolis! Is about to get a few new arrivals. The Doctome Family were on their way to a new life in Ultropolis. Not much was going on as they drove along the Highway, with nothing but trees and hills for them to see. The Family was quite content at the moment. Violet was enjoying another book, Keeping Calm in New Environments, and practicing some breathing exercises. Rose was watching a movie, which featured her and her sisters' favorite actor and crush, Derik Kouha. It was a movie about a boy who was a genius, and his sister who continuously destroys his lab, until the travels into the future to stop an evil genius who took over the world. Robin had fallen asleep on her papers which she had been drawing on. Alex was in the front seat with A.R.C. (Artificial Robotic Canine), making schematics for new gadgets. Finally, Jade was playing on a handheld game system, which was just about to die. Then it did.

Jade put the game down calmly and looked out the window for about 10 seconds. A new record for her to not be doing something. "Dad, when will we be there?" Jade asked their father, tapping her foot anxiously. ""Don't worry, we'll be able to see the city in just a few minutes." he said reassuringly. "This is stupid, why couldn't we have just flown everything there? It'd be faster." She said trying to keep her voice down. "I wanted to spend some time with my children. Besides, you don't want to show off in front of our new city do you?" he said. "Look," Alex said pulling out a spare battery pack. "You can have these. I know how you are when you get antsy." He said. Jade took them happily, then realized what Alex had said. "What's that supposed to mean?" Dr. Doctome looked back with a stare that made even a superpowered young girl stop from starting a fight.

Meanwhile in the city, a few of the regular gangs were going crazy as usual. The screamers, a gang of rock and roll enthusiasts, had just broken into one of the many City Banks, to fund their new band equipment. A young looking man in a black suit with slightly pointed ears looked down from inside a large skyscraper. In fact, from this point he could see a few miles past the city limits. "That, man is late." He said. He looked toward the sun which was now almost at its zenith. "I hate the wretched thing." he said, pulling a pair of shades out of his suit to cover his eyes. He turned, listening to the echoing sound of the elevator ding. "Ah, there he is." He said to himself. He sat slowly onto the chair in this room. "We can finally get down to business." He then saw a glimmer out of the corner of his eye. "I see our ape friend is finally here as well." He said, seeing a large machine emerging from the ground outside of the city. "The plan can finally start." He said.

As the Doctome family came over the next hill, 5 minutes from when they had began talking. "There it is everybody! Ultropolis. He said as they all began stirring from their own things, all but Violet. They all ooed and awed at the large city, easily 10 times the size of their last city. Robin rubbed her eyes and looked, "Is that where we are going to live now?" Robin asked starry eyed. "Yep," Dr. Doctome replied, "we'll be living in a nice apartment though so it will be a little-" He was interrupted by a sudden earthquake which sent the car off the road. A large machine, that looked like a large robotic version of a Spider Monkey currently with a drill arm, burst through the ground. It stood close to 30 meters tall. A cackling could be heard from the machine as its arm turned back into an arm. "I've finally found you." It said. The family recognized the voice immediately. "Craz E. Saru." They all sighed at the same time. The family got out, and stood ready to take him on. All except Violet, who was still in the car. Shaking in silent anger. "It's about time something exciting happened." Jade said as she flew forward to take on Craz. "Not so fast." Craz said as the machine's hand came up and stopped Jade's punch. "I have learned from my mistake, and now know how to get rid of you all. he said as his machine slapped Jade into the ground. They each tried there own ways to beat Craz, but were blocked. The robot had a climate control system, it was made with a generator that allowed it to vibrate quickly enough to block any of their attacks, including an anti-gravity system to shrug off Jade's gravity beam. Violet finally burst out of the car, 5 times as big, and angrier than a shaken nest of wasps. She went for the machine's mouth, charged with electricity. The robot chomped swallowing whole the sister. It then spat her back out, landing in a smoking heap of girl. She was back to normal size, and passed out. "hah, you have simply recharged my machine. You can't know the power which I now possess." he said, as his machine launched electricity from it's hand at them. "And do you know what the best part about it is? He clamped down on the family, save for Dr. Doctome and Alex, who were without there suits. "It's all magic." He said.

A voice came from behind the robot, which the girls of the family recognized immediately. "Hold it right there." the monkey robot turned just in time to see a humanoid robot about the same size, grab it's face and pull it down to the ground. The monkey robot was then quickly taken apart by the white robot. The girls were safe for now. The girls seemed to just be dazzled by the sight of the new robot. "Thank you for saving our family!" Dr. Doctome yelled to the robot. "It's my job sir. It said as it placed the monkey head, which was where the cockpit was, and knelt down, its cockpit opens. "My name is Derik Kouha. I'm being commissioned by the UPD." A red haired boy walked out wearing white armor that looked similar to storm trooper armor. The girls squealed in delight and just about fainted. We are just moving into the city. Is it always this dangerous?" he asked. Derik was swarmed by the girls asking him to sign autographs and such, but he answered. "Yes, but not like this guy. I'll...uh...give you an escort." he said as he signed a few more. He quickly guided them to their destination while telling them about the city. He then left to his own duties. "Well, here we are everyone." Dr. Doctome said, "Our new life."

"Great, now we got more robots running rampant in the city!" Clay said as he saw the robot monkey made its appearance "As if that Kouha wasn't arrogant enough with his shiny suit of armor." "Are you jealous, old man?" Alex said, floating lazily on his hover board "What was that boy?! Me, jealous, to a spoiled brat like that?! Do I need to clunk you!?" "No, Sir. I am just saying, if I had the parts I could build you a suit of armor too you know." Clayton gave him a look of disdain "I'll stick to having just and Iron Arm for now, don't even want to think what I would be like trapped in a metal case when we are on patrol, speaking of which"

The cyborg dove from the building just beside the bank, it wasn't that tall but just tall enough to the point where the screamers didn't notice the vigilantes till it was too late. It didn't hurt having the monkey robot distract them, but it held the draw back of wrecking the city if let roam free. Clay crashed his cybernetic fist into the hood of the armored van, busting the engine block beneath it and shattering the wind shield. The rear tires floated in mid-air with the force of the punch bending the van's frame and utterly wrecking the vehicle. Alex followed up by swooping in behind the terrified thugs, using his hover board to pulse a powerful shock wave that forced a number of the gang members either to their knees or flat on their faces.

"This can be done the easy way" Clay blasted a screamers fingers off as he pulled his gun "Or my way"

Three others tried to repeat their friends mistake, they too would be missing a few digits when the police arrived to take them away. One of the regulars that worked with Clay approached, watching the robots in the distance carefully "You Supers, just come out of the wood work now don't ya."

"Well there is a difference between us and them" "What's that?" "We did this by choice" Once the gangsters were all finally taken away, Clayton and Alex made their way home where Clay felt it was best to start a private discussion.

"They aren't better than you, Kid." "What'dya mean by that?" "Just think you should always keep in mind that no matter what powers they have, you are just as good as they are." "Where'd this come from? Do you think I feel like a loser because THEY were attacked by a giant robot monkey and I wasn't?" "No, I just know that you will want to compete to prove your worth. I am saying you don't need to and that you should know" Alex hadn't thought of it at all, challenging one of the Doctume sisters sounded like a thrill ride with his inventions being tested against super powers.

It started a spark in Alexander's eyes that Clay caught quickly, he didn't reinforce what he said about not challenging the girls. In truth Clay wanted nothing more than to see Alexander wipe the floor with the super powered brats, they're asking for it he thought to himself.

in the skyscraper, out of the elevator stepped a white haired man. he wore casual clothes, a tan leather jacket and blue jeans, with a wide brimmed fedora hat which shadowed his face. he didn't look it, but this man was one of the city's most important people. known throughout both the common rabble, and the criminal underworld; though for vastly different reasons and by different names. this was neo pheonix, or as he was known among the criminal population, Darkness. with him was a thug carrying a large briefcase. he walked up to the suited man, and began to speak "i apoligize for the wait. i had a meeting prior to this, and it ran longer than expected. shall we discuss the terms of our arrangement? i was informed that you desired the type of cutting edge technology that only i can provide..but little more than that." darkness said in a business-like tone

"Ah yes, Darkness." The man began. "You finally arrive. Tis no need to apologize though." He said, taking a humble bow. "Onto business. My associates and I wish to purchase quite a large sum of tech from you, for we have a plan to take this city, and later the world." he said with a smirk. "We need a little of everything you have, from magical tech, to the highest grade." He looked at him, wondering if he would believe the magical part. "For we have a new enemy in the city, a family of heroes. They go by the name Doctome, but as heroes call themselves." He shuddered, "The super sweet team. It's so cheesy, wouldn't you agree?" He let out a small chuckle, "But enough of that. We also would like your assistance breaking out a new arrival to the City's Super Jail." He pointed toward the robots, "As you can see, he has just lost. But he is the only one who has ever come close to destroying that family. Craz E. Saru. With his help, we may begin our conquest." He looked out the window again. "Soon, with his help, there will be a war. I'm sure you would be interested with that, no? When we are done, you can have this pathetic planet if you wish, our goals are a little higher than just Earth."

Later the Doctome family had moved into their new home in a flash. "Now, who wants to take a quick look around town?" Dr. Doctome asked. Everyone eagerly said yes. They all geared up to go, except A.R.C. who had already seen the entire town, via web. "ARC, be a good boy and watch the house while we are gone." Dr. Doctome, now Doctonium Man (Looks like this http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_ly...t8oo1_1280.jpg with white and blue instead of white and red) said. They left the apartment through the balcony window, and quickly found the screamers being arrested. "Well, looks like we already have some competition." Doctonium Man said. They continued around the city, except for Jade who decided that she wanted to see who else was around, and what they were like.

Meanwhile, Derik had just dropped Craz off at the Super Jail, where he was taken into custody by the Shapeshifting Warden and his psychic 2nd in command. The Super Jail was more of a mountain a few miles out of the city near the sea. It wasn't visible from anywhere in the city, but people knew it was there.

"I need to head out, I was asked to make a minor adjustment to the UTF Tanks after that run in with a dinosaur." Alex said as he made for the door "What dinosaur?" "You!" They both had a bit of a laugh, Clay was only laughing because he remembered how he had ripped out the tank tread to give him a chance at fighting Metal Man. The punk kept gloating that he was all metal while Clay had only an arm... it would end up the same arm that caved his skull in. "Ah, memories" He hadn't realized Alex had already sped off.

Honestly the UTF was more than capable of fixing their own damn tanks and if anyone where supposed to fix the treads it would be the one that broke them. Instead, Alex was going for a thrill ride, racing across town in the direction of the cities tallest building, Ultropolis Tower. When he reached the tower he spiraled upward around the outside of the building, close enough that if he wanted he could reach out and touch the structure. He remembered the first time he tried this that by the time he reached the top he chucked his lunch into an air vent, he spent so long trying to settle his stomach that he was nearly detained by security. Alex deactivated his board and stepped onto the concrete roofing, he was in his special place. He came here a lot to be with his thoughts or away from Clay or if he started thinking about his parents. Right now he was there to think about meeting someone with actual super powers for the first time, he wondered if they were vastly different from him or what things they had to do differently because they were super... he thought the same thing about Clayton and his arm, with that being his dominant hand he was sure that he was breaking everything he touched for a while. Even know Clayton will crush a doorknob or shatter a coffee mug if he is distracted, but he is old and these supers are his age and have had their powers since birth so they probably have some idea how to keep control.

"is that all? easy, too easy." Darkness said, motioning for the thug to open the case. inside were a set of what seemed to be three guns. "these are a rather promising prototype from the phoenix enterprises weapon lab. looks like just three guns, correct? wrong! these.."as he spoke, he pulled out the two smaller ones, and pushed a switch above the triggers, causing the entire gun to collapse into what appeared to be a PDA type device. "are a system of hard-light constructs. each deployment system is preloaded with a variable armory of weaponry choices. all that is needed to have a weapon at hand, is to scroll the screen, choose the load-out..and there you have it, your chosen weapon. ammunition isn't an issue, but after a certain number of shots it'll go into a short cooling cycle.." he explained. "i trust this is to your liking? as for the magitech, you'll have to go to my street watchers..Mr.Shun here will gladly arrange for that." darkness said, turning to look out the window, gazing into the rapidly darkening city "so, a prison break eh? i suppose i could use the amusement..." he said, taking off his hat. scarlet red eyes glowed brightly, like embers, as a large smirk was on his face. "tell me..do you know why they call me darkness? some would say that it's because i usually work in the shadows. but the truth is..a bit more..literal." at this, he allowed the smirk to break into an unhinged smile..which then turned unnatural as his teeth turned to jagged fangs. his eyes flashed for a moment, and thick, black smoke bellowed out of his open mouth covering his body, and obscuring him from sight. it took a few moments, but the smoke began to assume a vaguely humanoid form.. a very demonic form, it stood 7 feet tall at the least, and reeked of superiority "This, is why i am known as darkness! take it in..and bask in my glory. you seek the release of the filthy ape? fine. i only ask that you recognize that when the dust clears, that this city is mine." with that, darkness devolved into a storm of smoke and smashed through the window, barreling towards his destination

Marc was walking towards his office when he was approached by a group of three men. They blocked his way. "Would you kindly move aside?" Marc asked friendly. "Hell no, first you have to pay us, rich boy." The tallest of the group replied "Cash or life, I don't care either way." He continued while producing a flame in his right hand and the other two grabbed their guns. Marc sighed and looked on his watch. "Well, I suppose I have a minute to deal with you."

The thug seemed a bit taken back by the response. "Your life it is then." He yelled angrily and produced a large cone of flames, engulfing Marc entirely for 5 seconds. Once the fire cleared, Marc was nowhere to be seen. Instead, his place was taken by a large men in dark grey and red battle armour. "Oh, shit. You're that Catalyst guy." The thug yelled and he tried to shoot a fireball at Marc. "Seems like it. Well, back to school to you guys." Marc replied. The fireball disappeared. "Lesson one, fire needs three things to burn. Take one of them away, like oxygen, and it extinguishes." The other guys prepared to shoot until they noticed their guns were rusted entirely. "Thanks to oxidation, rust can form on metals. And lastly, the entire world is build on polymers. Quite literary actually." Before the thugs knew what happened, they were trapped in a box made out of plastic. "The asphalt is made out of bitumen, which is a rest product of cracking oil. Oil is made out of alkenes and those can polymerize, creating plastics."

With his attacked locked up in their plastic cage, Catalyst looked on the timer inside of his helmet. He smiled, it was even less than a minute. His battle armour seemed to shrink and within seconds it was entirely gone, leaving only Marc in his suit as he continued his way.

Kamila was sitting in the kitchen, lazing about and eating sushi when she heard a yell from the living room. She sighs and brings her food with her to see Aiden with the TV paused on a scene from the city. He had a system set up so he could view from any security camera in the city, and he monitored them constantly. "Whazzat?" She asks, mouth full of food. Aiden resumes the video and she sees a car driving past the camera, then being thrown off the road as what seemed to be a large robot monkey burst through the ground. Kamila takes a seat next to Aiden, offering him some sushi as they watch. Her eyes focus in on each face, scanning and memorizing each detail. "Yeah, just what we need, another bunch of supers.." She mutters grumpily, watching as they all get defeated one by one, until a humanoid shows up. Kamila groans, covering her face. Aiden looks over at her, raising a questioning eyebrow. "I really, really hate that guy.. Look at how those girls fawn over him! It's pathetic, especially with them being supers! He should've let them all die.." Kamila flops back against the couch, arms crossed.

Aiden shakes his head, smiling lightly. "Well, aren't you aggressive today, hmm? Methinks you might have a crush on this Derik guy.." Aiden laughs lightly at the look on Kamila's face, getting up to go put the empty sushi plate in the dishwasher. "Hey, hey, I was kidding, chill out.. How about we go find those new supers and introduce ourselves, hmm?"

Kamila rolls her eyes, shrugging. "Yeah, fine, whatever.. Might as well go as Nyx and Ryder, hmm?" Kamila heads to her room, to throw on her black wig, some black pants, and a plain tank top. No need to get fancy.

Aiden nods, and heads to his own room to throw on a shirt, pants, and wig. They were the type that didn't go displaying their face to the world, wanting to avoid being randomly attacked by anyone who might recognize them, and also to avoid paparazzi and fans. He heads out the door, being soon followed by Kamila, and they casually make their way around the city to find the family.

"Well whatdya know?" The man said, "finally a person who looks similar to my people. Lucky bastard can change in the sun though." He then turned towards Mr. Shun. "Well Mr. Shun, about the Magitech..." He said. ""By the way, my name in the Human Language means, Vlad. Ironic is it not?" He said.

Down in the city, Jade had just seen a man take out a few thugs by placing them in a plastic cage. "That was awesome, but I think I just learned more in that minute than I could in a month of school." She said walking off, hands behind her head. She thought that she could hear the familiar noise of the Jade Empires laughing a few blocks away, but decided it was nothing. "I've seen that guy, I wonder what other types of Supers are in this town." she said.

At the Super Jail, the warden was having a speech about the integrity of his jail, and keeping the denizens of Ultropolis safe from harm from every criminal within the jail. He didn't happen to notice that the cameras were picking up a few unwanted guests.

Alex jumped back onto his hover board, carefully positioning it and powering it down so that it was balancing on the ledge of the building. He tipped the board forward and it slid off the building putting Alex in free fall. He could feel himself shout with excitement but the rushing air seemingly made him deaf as his descended to earth. The fear of death was an amazing drug, it was natural, it was free, and it was easy to apply to the body in his line of work. In his last seconds he kicked the accelerator which threw him forward and up once again, but not long as he brought himself to the sidewalk and started walking home.

Yet again he didn't get far as a girl caught his eye, she wore green with fantastic black hair. He simply float when he saw her, he wanted to say something but didn't know what. Why was he acting like this? He had fought monsters the size of a house without so much as breaking a sweat but he couldn't speak to a stranger... a girl. He wanted to be in his spot again.
