Between Angels & Demons IC

The city of Hope. The bastion of the rebels. One of the last places a human could truly be... human. Though how long would it last? And how close to their goal of a free Earth were they? Well, far from. The rebels don't even have the firepower to attack small outposts of the Angels or Demons. What the rebels need are Heroes... Who who DARE to stand up and speak out loud! To rally them together, and to point them towards the enemy! And this is the day... the city gets to choose this Hero.

Today were the elections for the new General of the Rebel Army. There were a lot of candidates, but only one could be chosen! All that is left for the candidates to do is to give a speech in the town hall. After that, the voting would begin, and hopefully a new age would shine...
It's 12:15. The speeches start at 13:30. The candidates sure must feel nervous...

Leila did not feel nervous.
Why would she? She didn't want to win. She was no general. Why would she want to mess around with a load of ignorant macho men and talk about fighting when she could actually BE fighting?
She's in her bunk, playing her violin and trying to master Hysteria by Muse, a true classic if ever there was one. She hums the note before trying to play it to no avail. This music business was harder than it looked.

Leila sighed and began to make for town hall, after picking up her blades and coat, of course. She takes a winding path through the darker shady streets; her pale skin burns easily in the Texas Sun, but still manages to get there early. She sits down in the front row, hoping to at least be amused by the attempts of some of the other candidates.

Elect a candidate for General of the Rebellion? Sounds like a typical war film for the silver screen. Samson, or also known as Fox by his peers, walks along Main Street and examines the city's inner structures. The taller they are, the more likely they were hit, huh? Fox's head is tilted back, scanning his entire surroundings. Most buildings, especially the old sky scrapers, were blasted and left gaping holes from every direction. His attention returns to the road, detailing the few people he saw heading in the same direction as him.

This city, Hope, was certainly cleaned up of all its junk more than my old home. Guess they had the time. Or desperately wanted the debris. He notes the lack of cars, broken or otherwise, in the streets. Fox's left hand reaches to his brow and shifts his hair to the back of his ear to get a clear look. Crowds were certainly gathering inside a fortified building known as the Town Hall. Getting rather aggravated by the sun, he reaches into the inside of his left breast pocket within his coat and pulls out a pair of sunglasses. Quickening his step, Fox makes his way to find his sister. Who knows why she ran off instead of coming with me.

Brooks leaned up against a wall while he waited. Waited for the election to start. It seemed the moment would never come.
As much as he hated elections, this one was for the very survival of the human race. It was about who should lead the remaining free men and women against the freaks.
Brooks knew deep inside that he would make a great leader, but he also knew that his hatred and sorrow might become the downfall of Hope.
He'd hold his speech, but wouldn't be surprised if he was not elected. He expected better candidates than himself.

"Fuckin' shit, isn't this election gonna fuckin' start soon?" Brooks said out loud, to himself as he leaned against the broken stone wall.
"We could be shootin' some freaks right now, but we choose to wait another hour or somethin'" he continued to rant to no-one but himself and the cracked brick wall behind him.
"We could all be dead by the time this shit starts" he added.

A dry wind brushed over he rusty surfaces of what once used to be a city. Structures that once stood proud and tall ,reaching for the sky now looked more like used toothpics among gravel, and the few buildings that still stood was far from impact.
Riley stood on top on one of those few building. She had assigned herself to be on watch-duty during the towns hall meeting, not because it was needed, but more because she really didn't like huger gatherings of people. Even less those who would go out of their way to be liked or chosen only to end up never keeping their promises to the people who elected him or her as a general.

She sighed and repositioned her seating, when she noticed steps sounding from below her. It was her brother.

"Oy, bro! Up here!" She said and waved, knowing that he was most likely looking for her. "And whatever you say, i'm not interested in going to the meeting. Just tell me the details later if you go, ok?"

Vix's mind was finally starting to slip, after days of walking along with no way to eat and only occasional water, even with a captivity born ability to survive with minimal nourishment he was starting to truely feel the hunger and fatigue setting in, and he'd only just found something that could qualify as 'civilization' in this age. As slowly as ever he approached the 'City of hope', though he had no idea where he was, all he knew was that it was the only place for countless miles that looked like it could contain humans, and as luck would have it, he spotted signs of 'defensive positions' set up to look like plain rubble and deter suspicion from demons and the like. He continued to move closer at a steady pace right up until he heard a voice, lazily lifting his head to see a couple of men on the rubble, armed and aimed for him and seeming to shout things, but in an instant his body relaxed upon realizing he'd finally found some humans, at which point he blacked out on the spot and proceeded to eat pavement.


He had no clue that he'd stumbled into the 'City of hope' on the same day as they were to have an election to select a new General, all he knew was that when he finally awoke in a Cot in what he assumed was a make-shift medic Facility, he could hear all kinds of ruckus else-where. For the time being though, he wasn't interested in moving, pleased enough with simply resting where he was while he finally had the chance, fairly certain that someone would pop in to check on the 'stranger' who had stumbled up to town, maybe if he was lucky it'll be somoene with a brain and an open mind.

Then he smelled it... Water, Clean water at that, Something he hadn't been able to drink in ages, instantly he snapped his eyes open and snatched up a cup that had been left nearby, gulping it down with reckless abandon before letting out a loud sigh, then realized suddenly that the straps holding his arms tied to his waist had been un-done, how nice of them not to strip him down or anything. With some fresh water in him at last, and a quiet grumble, he sat up and braced himself against his own knees while waiting for his body to fully awaken again, figuring he should go ahead and get someone attention, thus calling out "OI!, Is anyone else nearby here? I would 'love' to know where I am now."

A man peeks his head around the corner and sees that Vix was awake! He walks up to the bed and raises his hand. ''Howdy there! It is good to see you're still alive. We had our moments of doubt.'' The man looks at the cup and the drops around it. ''Seems you were quite thirsty my friend. But now to answer your question. You, my boy, are lucky enough to be in the city of Hope! One of the remaining strongholds of the rebels! And I'm starting to think it's the last one... We are getting more and more refugees everyday.'' The man shakes his head in a worry and then looks back to you. ''I'll help you up, then just fill in some forms, and you're good to go! With a little luck, you are still in time for the speeches!''

Vix blinks at the man for a moment, possibly the first time his excessively red eyes were seen unless someone went poking around while he was unconcious, but accepts the help getting and gives a little nod "Yeah... That's one word for it, I've been walking for days with no food, and the only water I ever got was borderline mud... I've quite a story to tell, but no clue who to tell." With that he let the other man lead him to wherever these 'forms' were while adding on "Hmmm, What forms? and for that matter 'why' forms? hahah, to think, there's paper systems in this age... Also, What speeches? Did I have special timing getting here or something?"

"Oy, bro! Up here!" . . . "And whatever you say, i'm not interested in going to the meeting. Just tell me the details later if you go, ok?"

She makes it sound like I really want to go myself. . . Fox sighs, finally looking up at his sister as he leans against a wall, hands in his coat's pockets. His eyes watched her lazily from behind his sunglasses, thinking of some type of response. As he thinks, his right hand raises slowly to the mask around his neck and he fiddles with it before placing it over his face. With his free hand, he extends his arm and waves at her, the rings upon his fingers reflecting different light spectrums.

"I'll just run in, find out who wins and talk to that General or whoever leads the Supply Runs!" Fox's voice carries out to his sibling, ignoring anyone else in the area. "Looks like they could really use us here." He finally turns and walks to the Town Hall, settling his hands back into his pockets. His eyes attempt to note any significant-looking characters along the way as well as when he makes it inside.

"Sounds good!" Riley answered with a nods, then watched Fox as he walked off towards the meeting hall. She then turned back to observing the view while fiddling with her necklace. She was trying to figure out a way in which a sufficient water cleaning system could be installed, what would be needed, how she would manage to do it etcetera.
Ever since the invasion of the angels and demons, the water supplies have been scarce, not to mention dirty. The city already had one cleaning system but there was a hard rule of how much water could be supplied to each and everyone of its inhabitants. That had been the first thing that she had learned during her time here.

She also thought of a way in which she could fix the power system. Electricity seemed to be rare, and the way things were built up again, fire heat wasn't the most safe way to provide heat and food.

In fact there was a lot of things that needed to be fixed in this city of Hope and as her self-entitlement to be on watch at the moment, Riley had also given herself the title of head-fixer. She was, after all, very skilled with her hands, and there was nothing wrong with her creativity.
