What do you want from the next Pope?

I really admired pope Benedict for a lot of things. Some are that his courage to stand down because he knew its be best, him striving for social justice issues, and the fact he was probably the first German I actually knew about (he became pope when I was 7).

So with all the commotion about who are next pope should be or should do, what do you want for the pope?

Personally I want someone who can help keep religious equality and keep the Catholic ties with world religions on good terms. I also wouldn't mind getting an African pope or an Asian pope. I think Europe has given us one too many popes, even though I wouldn't mind a primarily German speaking pope again.

So what do you guys want in a pope?

The Catholic church of today is corrupted due to its liberalisation and modernisation of the last decade. People still want the Catholic church to 'evolve' while it should take some steps back and adhere more to Thomas of Aquino's ideas.

Not a Catholic, but would love to see the next Pope to be more of a base for the religious fervor as opposed to this superstar figure that connects the real religion with the media-link... So yeah, basically what Kwak said.

Wasn't his fault. In the 40s the Germans forced all boys between the ages of 6-14 (or something like that) to be in the group. Even though Benedict and his family hated the Nazis, Benedict was forced to or otherwise he might not of been around today.

Benedict also didn't look like that, he may of been old, but he didn't look like that.

More Pope jokes. We barely have any anymore.

Anyway, the Pope hasn't mattered since Medieval times, so unless he wants to reinstate inquisitions and burning at the stake, I don't quite care. You know what I would love? If it was a gay, black guy from the US who became the Pope, just for everyone to all shut up about gay rights and racism.
