The internet is full of them. No, I don't mean the people that act all "crazy" and random. I mean the actual mental cases, the people that mostly hide it and tend not to make a big case out of it. Trust me, 85% of the people that attract attention towards a presumed illness or personality disorder are not, in fact, mentally sick.
Anyhow, the present cases are not what I want to discuss over. What do you think of mental illnesses in a story? What is your opinion on managing to keep them away from becoming something mainstream or overused? Also, do you enjoy to document yourself over stuff like personality disorders? I know I do. I find them the most interesting things on earth. I'd also like your opinion on whether you think my interest towards all kinds of mental issues is natural or caused by the fact that I am close to being diagnosed myself.
I believe movies about people going mad are, coming after good sci-fi movies and detective movies, my most favorite type of movies. An all time favorite of mine, out of this particular genre, would be "A beautiful mind". What is your opinion on movie representation of mental illnesses and/or the way they slowly or quickly grow upon people?
Have you got a certain mental illness that or more of them that you're most interested in? I have my favorites. What do you think about stereotypes related to mental issues and which ones do you think are the most common?
I made this thread merely to check up on other people's opinions, see what people think. I'm not trying to imply that I am mentally ill, because I'm probably not. I find this an entertaining subject to discuss over, so.. discuss ^^! I don't want to have to bump this 10 times. Don't be lazy.
