One Piece: Quest For Justice [IC]

Campus Island

The sun was high in the middle of the day, in the blue skies over the prosperous Island. An island filled with life and joy. The mines are prosperous, and so is the life off the farmers, and in between are the other people. Campus Island is as close to a perfect island as you might find, except for the few social outcasts, there are a few poor people, a poor house, and so on. But the royal family, and their nobles tries as hard as they can to help those in need, the sick and the poor. The people of Campus is however not the heroes of this story. No. This is the story revolving around the brave men and women off the Marine forces of the 108th base.

A group of men and women, those under the command of Commander Churute Kil, commonly known to the people of Campus, as well as his subjects as "Lance" The second in command, and possibly the second most respected fella on the entire island excluding the Nobles and the Royal family. He, along with the rest of the Marines are hailed as heroes on Campus Island, it's a good place to be a marine in. But, because off the prosperity off the island there will always be the threat off Pirates.

Speaking of which, an explosion in the Town plaza was heard, flames spreading and guns were fired as the people was put into panic, evacuating the plaza. The den-Den Mushi in Lance's room was heard, as the young commander was working out as he was doing push-ups at the time. He got up from the floor, and put on his White top, as he buttoned his shirt, he picked up the Den-Den Mushi. And answered it. He was met by the barking of Edward in his ear, about an explosion in the Town plaza.

Lance put on his black shoes, as well as grabbing his headband and his aviators, putting the sunglasses on, as he tied up the bandanna around his forehead, to hold his hair back, before he got to running. He got into the main-room of the Base, where it had communicators to all the other rooms. He shouted into the room. " My team as well as the first division all hands on deck, there's been an explosion in the plaza, Pirates it looks. I need all of you there now! Edward's not coming, he's in a meeting with the Nobles!" He shouted, before he turned around, and headed back into his room, taking the leather strapped hilt that held his Tomahawk, Wolfblade before he set off towards the town plaza.

“Explain yourself, Apprentice! How does this happen?!”

The roar of the bald Chief of the Cannoneer Squad, Master Chief Petty Officer Dowser echoed throughout the cannon deck of the ship docked underneath the base. The subject of his berating’s was Seaman Apprentice Truuni Culveri, as usual. This time, she’d forgotten to lock one of the cannons back in place after cleaning it during the weekly inspection, and it was currently on the other side of the ship, sitting in the place of a cannon that was now on the bottom of the sea floor, one of the other cannoneers currently in the process of swimming back.

Truuni, arms held at her side, gaze lowered to the ground, face red with embarrassment, tried to explain herself, but there wasn’t much she could say; she hadn’t messed up this badly in ages. “Well I...there really isn’t an excuse. It slipped by mind, is all,” Truuni tried to explain, not really feeling that the truth would pass as an explanation in this case. Even though she was called away by Petty Officer Dowser after cleaning the cannon, she still should have had the common sense to lock the cannon back into place.

“Well, now we’ve lost a perfectly good cannon, and I doubt Seaman First Class Zhao is going to be too pleased about his swim,” Dowser grumbled. “I’m going to have to report this to the Commander...” Truuni slumped even lower.

Luckily, it didn’t seem like that would come to pass, or at least not for a while. The door to the cannon deck burst open, a panicked looking runner suddenly spouting, “There are pirates in the Capital! An attack! Lance is ordering his team and the First division at the Plaza as soon as possible!” After the initial gasps of surprise from Lance’s cannoneers, Truuni could make out a bustle of noise from outside, both on the ship and on the docks.

Dowser mobilized his cannoneers as soon as he could. They stormed from the ship, heading to the storeroom of the base, moving through Marines running left and right. They picked up their equipment: mortars and ammunition; far easier to carry and move through town than cannons. As Dowser tried to get in contact with Commander Lance or the Lieutenant for orders on where to set up, Truuni checked her own hand cannon over, wondering if she would get another chance to try it today. She’d just preformed maintenance on it the previous night, so she was a little eager.

{Franz Heisenberg}

_108 Marine Base_

Franz Heisenberg dressed in a navy blue flock coat and pants with crimson red trimmings, and possessor of a finely trimmed curly mustache was a Chief Petty Officer at the 108 marine base. He wore silver bifocals for his blue eyes and seemed have two spheres connected to his curly and messy black hair for some reason which was covered by the navy blue top hat he just placed on. After filing a request several weeks ago, Franz has finally gotten permission for shore leave. " Hmm, Hmm." He said as hummed a jaunty tune to himself as he grabbed his things, a satchel loaded with all sorts of devices and tools, and various other equipment like pistols, his customized rifle, a bear trap or two and even his bazooka, which he strapped to his back. He had planned on going hunting for his shore leave, to relax his mind, quieting all the useless and stressful voices plaguing his very thoughts.

Franz seemed to be going all out as he also wore his specially tailored right and left gloves, each embedded with a unique device from his homeland in the sky. So happy Franz was that he even tucked in his own unique den den mushi that has a mustache like his and a top hat on its left eyes, inside his satchel as he knew no one would call him as this land was quite peaceful. The smile faded as he received the news from the loud speaker in his room about a plaza explosion and a possibly pirate attack. " Oh dear..." He sighed as he opened another drawer and connected some kind of strange looking device to his feet.

" Fate must not want me to have a day off. " He complained as he opened his door and left.

Amami was humming a tune she liked as a lot of maps were scattered around her room. She was trying to make them as detailed as possible, so she took out every chart she had and looked at them all. If one had the same area as another she would make sure both of them had the same amount of details.

Amami looked around and tried to find a certain chart. She was a very careful woman when it was related to her charts, as she knew a good chart was one that was in a good condition and had plenty of details and information on them. She found the chart she was looking for after a couple of minutes of searching, knowing that later she would present it with pride.

She was drawing a few details in a chart when she heard the message. She sighed, placed the chart aside and grabbed her marines outfit. She quickly put it on. She grabbed her stuff and her special made Katana and then went out, heading to the plaza. It wouldn't take her more than 10 minutes to arrive, though she did enjoy taking her time.

Quas Rodrigo was doing his regular chore boy duties. Some of their pans were rusting and they needed ingredients for the dinner later. Seeing as how he was an expert in ingredient choosing, the chefs assigned him the task to go shopping in town. On his back was a sack of new pans and woks, and in his hands was a half full basket of vegetables. He was by one of the stalls at the moment, looking around for the shopkeeper to give his payment for the food. "Hey, mister!" He looked down to see a young civilian boy with a coin pouch. "My ma isn't here right now, so I'm in charge of all the money!" he said with a grin. His smile suddenly disappeared when he saw the green food in Quas' hands. "Blegh... I don't get why old people keep buying all that gross food!"

"It's gross alright," Quas said with a nod as he handed the belli and knelt by the boy, surprising the lad at his words as he accepted the money. "But you're a strong boy, aren't you?" He held up a green pepper. "These are bad guys that deserve to be destroyed! And if you want to protect your ma and pa from their horrible taste, you gotta defeat it yourself! Sure you can step on them or throw them away, but they'll still be there and come back! But what if you eat it?"

"... They'll stay inside me and not go anywhere!" he answered, his face lightening up at the realization.

"Right! And once you kill them with your strong teeth and swallow them like the mean food they are, you'll get rid of them from the face of the earth! It may taste bad at first, but a true hero must sacrifice to protect his precious people!" Quas exclaimed with a grin equal to that of the boy's who was agreeing animatedly. He rose up his hand for a high-five, and right when the kid returned it, a huge explosion occurred a few streets from where they were. Quas quickly stood up and turned towards the affected area where smoke was now clearly seen. He gave a quick salute to the boy. "Good luck on beating up and chewing out those veggies!" The boy saluted back.

Quas held tighter onto his basket of food as he ran towards the plaza. He was in no position to head towards it if it were an attack, but he was right there, only blocks away from the site. His assistance may not be that great, but it would be quick!

Seri Kurikawa

The three man felt uneasy. "Really ma'am, you shouldn't-" One started, trying to ignore the letter that Seri was waving around before his face. The female Warrent Officer crooked her head slightly to the side and looked at the three marines. "Really it is no trouble. Arren was supposed to deliver those, but he fell ill so I figured I could deliver them for him. Don't you want this letter? Maybe it is very important." She said, flipping the letter around so she could read the adress. "I guess if you don't want it I will have to deliver it back to the person it came from." She mused. Quickly the man took the letter out of her hands.

"Really there is no need for you to go through this trouble, ma'am." The man said, clearly feeling ashamed.

"It's no trouble really." Seri replied, waving his concerns away with a flick of her hand.

The man pocketed the letter and saluted. "Thank you very much, but with permission, you have people for that." He said.

Seri laughed. "Well yeah, but as I said, Arren fell ill so he couldn't do it. Besides I figured all of you were busy with your own stuff so I decided I could take being a delivery boy, er.. girl, for a day or so."

"But what about your own work, ma'am. Surely you must be busy."

Again Seri waved him away. "Don't worry about it." She said smiling. She turned around and walked to the door. "I'll leave you to it." And with that she left. It was how things always went with the little Warrent Officer. She just liked helping people out. She failed to see why everyone kept complaining about that. It was not like her own work wasn't getting done. Most of the time she managed to finish it all on time. Never had any complains about that. Seri chuckled to herself and opened the door of her office. It was neat inside. Piles of papers lying carefully sorted in boxes. There was one window with a windowstill large enough to sit in. Seri loved it. Dropped the now empty bag on one of the chairs she picked up her violin and sat down against the glass. she looked outside. It was a normal day as ever in the base it seemed. People working, running, talking, doing training. Carefully she placed the bow on her violin and started the first tune of her song when immediately Commander Lance's voice echoed through the room. For a moment Seri thought that he was going to say that she was slacking off. Though that thought was ridiculous. He had never said that before. Besides how would he know? No, his message was far graver than that. An attack. Seri sheathed the rapier that she used as bow and put the violin in its case, before strapping it to her back. After making sure her had her portable Den Den Mushi on her wrist she left her room.

No peaceful music this afternoon.

Lance would quickly make his way towards the plaza, people running away in fear. A wounded young man, probably not older than Lance was carrying a man on his shoulders, the man was wounded, blood coming from his head, as the boy was bleeding from his right arm. Lance couldn't help but feel proud of people like him, as the young man collapsed, falling to the ground, as Lance caught him, and the man with no strain on his body at all, he lifted five or six times heavier weights as warm-up exercise. " Good job boy. You've probably saved a life. I'm proud of you" Lance said, as he nodded for aother marine soldier to take them to the medical-bay. " Kick their asses, Commander..." The young boy said, before he passed out. Lance nodded his head, as he put on his Marine-Cap, that hung in his back-pocket. Putting it on, as you could still see part of his black bangs, as well as his red bandanna and his aviators with gold frames. He didn't wear the blue scarf, and his collar off his Marine-Vest was unbuttoned.

His black leather pants shoewd the bright metal buckle, inbetween the untucked pieces of white cloth from his tunic, his feet was covered by the high-quality black leather shoes, and his hands there were leather gloves of similar texture. "Time to wreck some criminals." He said, as he looked around, being able to see his team forming from all around, Franz would probably already be up on a roof, or something. " First division, back away." Lance said, as the Marines took two steps backwards, their weapons still aimed at the plaza, where the smoke was still not cleared. He saw two civilians, one in the hands off a big man, they weren't much more than a 20 or so group of Pirates. The big man was probably some form of muscle, he didn't seem like the brains off a opreation like this. But on the other hand, going into the plaza of one of the richest and most prosperous kingdoms in this sea wasn't exactly a very smart move.

In the middle, there was a man, holding a sword. A big Bastard sword, the blade was surely 2 and a half meter long, which looked absurd, given the man's own height being just above one and a half meter. Lance looked up, as he whispered. Keltu and vanished, only to appear a few inches from the man holding up the civilian male. Lance didn't waste any time, as soon as he had the man's attention, he uppercutted the man, keeping his focus, despite the anger the felt, he called upon the spirit of arsuni, strength of an Ox. The big brute was knocked to the ground, and soon began crawling back up. Directed a punch towards Lance's face, Lance grabbed the civilian, as he saw how another one of the pirates aimed a rifle at him, and just as he fired the bullet, Lance used Lekaru, to take another leap in the air, doing a backflip, as he landed back behind the marine lines. " Where's Kita?!" He barked.

The Pirates, smiled, as the short man with the gigantic blade spoke up. " What, can't keep your men in line? We're not here for small wish like you. We're the Moonshine Pirates. GrandLine and Back-Pirates. We're here to kill one Edward Newton, personal reasons." The pirate commanded, Lance scoffed. " Grandline and back ,huh? So you got your asses kicked to hard in the Grandline to stay there?" Lance taunted. Towards which the man got rather enraged, his men opened fire, as Lance barked at his soldiers to take cover, and return fire. Lance sighed, as he ducked behind cover. "Come on Franz, some support would be nice" He thought to himself quickly.

He was wondering where the rest of his team where, hoping they'd report in to him rather soon. He wanted to kick this fight up a notch. But he doubted he could take on all of those guys by himself.

Amami arrived to see the shots beginning. She decided against going next to Lance, even when it would be the smart thing to do. She scanned the area to see if she could find any clear paths from behind the pirates, and she did, but it involved going at the very edge of the fire area. It was a very risky move, and as long as the pirates kept firing without stopping it would be dangerous. She also found another route to get behind them, but that one involved taking down two pirates before being able to use it.

Amami took out her katana and started to block the bullets with it, going toward Lance with smooth moves. She appeared to be dancing as she moved though the bullets, which made the sword's movements be smooth but also fast, allowing her to block the bullets well.

As she arrived at the cover next to Lance, she gave him a punch to the arm "Already got yourself into some trouble commander?" She asked and looked around, trying to spot any more routes to go through "I found two possible routes that can allow us to go from behind the pirates. One is through there" she pointed to one of the walls, where there was a cover in parts reaching behind the pirates "And another through those two, but of course both of them requires going through the fire. I can try going through the safer one, which doesn't require killing the two pirates, but it's up to you." She told him and took out her gun. She aimed carefully and started to shoot, hating every time she pressed the trigger. She managed to hit a pirate in the arm, but he kept on shooting, determined to keep going. The bastards just didn't know when to give up.

The Cannoneer Squad was, as usual, slow to start, but packing a mighty punch. They charged through the town, mortars and ammo in hand. Truuni’s heart pounded from her nerves and the running. Master Chief Petty Officer Dowser grumbled, not having gotten any word from either Lance, who was likely in battle, or the Lieutenant, who wasn’t responding either. Taking charge himself, he led the Squad around the Plaza, avoiding it. They charged up the steps of a nearby restaurant, onto the upper dining area. There was a wide, flat space, but it was covered in tables and chairs, some plates with still warm food present, the patrons and employees likely having evacuated. “Clear the deck and set up! We need to offer support!” Dowser ordered, looking over at the battlefield. Truuni spaced out for a moment and looked too: she could see Commander Lance in combat and quite a few pirates as well. One of them appeared to have a hostage. Truuni was about to point it out when Dowser noticed her. His patience wearing down, he yelled, “Get moving!”

Truuni jumped into action, putting the mortar she had down and began to help moving tables and chairs aside. She gently slid one table aside, not wanting to disturbed the food and drink on top, when someone else came to help her, roughly pulling the table. Truuni groaned quietly when the drink; a fruit juice, spilled, staining her uniform. Looking up, she saw that the one helping her with the table was still soaked, though not dripping after the run here. Truuni bit her lip as Seaman First Class Zhao looked at her, his normally bushy navy blue hair fizzy and wet. He didn’t say anything, but the look of disgust and anger was enough. She was a fuck up, she knew it. The burn scars on her arm, still bandaged and healing, were more than enough of a reminder, but it didn’t make her feel any better. She continued to help prep the area, and began setting up the mortars. Once they were set up, they could rain hell on the pirates...hopefully.

_Rooftop_ Quite far away_


Bang! As one of the pirate riflemen drop to the ground with a thud. " Must you always be a hurry, Lance. " Franz complained as he took the shot. He then, handed his rifle to a few barrels that had sprouted arms, legs, and eyes, while Franz picked up another rifle he loaded. " Damn it boy, I'm a sniper, not a damn miracle worker." He grumbled to himself as he looked through his scope to spot another target. The barrels with their new found eye sight and limbs acted as an assemble line as they prepared the rifle the proper way with loading the ammo with a metal rod, adding the right amount of gunpowder, and then use a brush.

Bang! Another pirate riflemen dropped to the ground with a thud. He was picking them off one by one like flies and from the pirates point of view this madman was no where in sight, an invisible enemy. " Regardless, support is here and if they dare to get out in the open to shoot you, then they won't be an issue no longer." Franz commented as he handed another rifle over to his animated object crew and picked up yet another loaded rifle to use. Apparently the reason, Franz was late was because he decided to create himself a little army and take as many rifles as he could find so that he could go on a sniper's spree. " Its just unfortunate, my hands won't forget their skill any time soon." He said as he searched with his scope once more.
