It began with a light, one infinitesimal speck in the darkness. There was nothing... and then there was you.
You came from the other realm, a place mortals cannot tread. You came with others, and you all came with the same intent: To craft a new world, better than the old one, with your deific powers, your will, your goals. Your siblings do not share the exact same vision that you do, but you know this world cannot be made alone. You and your fellow gods agreed to change the void into life.
Around you are stars now, those brilliant heralds of your arrival, and you come closer to a world... the world. Your world. It is time to make your dream a reality. It is...
The Dawn of Worlds

To simulate the transparency of the map, first make adjustments to the Current World Map. Then, copy the Grid image and paste it onto the map, making sure that you make the white on the grid transparent (so that it doesn't cover the map when you make your edits).
The color code is as follows: Light green is grass, dark green is forest, gray is mountain, brown is barren, yellow is desert, swamp is gray-green, ice/snow is white (but since the whole map, in the beginning, is white, you have to draw out where the snow begins with a black line until the map is colored). Bodies of water are blue. Special terrains will have unique colors (discussed either here or via PM). If I'm missing a terrain, let me know and we can add it in.
When using the map, use Letter# coordinates. That means: A1, C7, or H12, as examples.

Aquillo stands a stout 5' 6" when appearing normally. He sports medium length hair, black as pitch, but it fades slightly to blonde at the tips. One lock of hair is pure white, and is often flared across his forehead. His eyes are a stunning ice blue on top of dark tanned skin. He carries a large staff for appearance,a pearl embedded in a metal head at the top of the staff. He also wears a sapphire earing on his left ear, embedded in silver. He wears a leather-like tunic and pants with black boots up to the mid of his calves, his clothes are colored black and grey, if depicted in clothes.
Aquillo will often take a different form upon entering the water, or being around it. The thing about this form however, is it changes on a whim. It reflects any number of creatures or plants he will place in the waters. Sometimes you may see him in a great monstrous form of a squid like beast, and others as a stalwart being encrusted in coral. The diversity of his "shape shifting" is near unlimited. He will often change his shape in order to scare mortal races or to appease their thirst for knowledge and religion.
*Aquillo is very interested in the workings of the surreal, including magicks and energy. He seeks to mold these energies into something more. He likes the idea of something greater behind the scenes, and look to add his own spice and flavor to the intricate ebbs and flows of the powers around, including learning about his and the other god's powers.
*With his memories of the world he left behind, he brought with him a love of maritime life. He had a background of fishing, boat-building, and other such activities. In this new world he want's to work to recreate the waters he loved so much, direct their flow, and give life through it. He plans to have at least one big, beautiful ocean, and a few islands to go with it.
*Desires to give the gift of life to his own people, a vague shaped idea in his head to represent his loves, he is in the workings of formulating a race after his own heart, wherever his lies, so shall his race.*
*As a former sailor in another world, another life, another person, he became very involved in *trade and merchanting. He wishes to bring the races of this new world together through trade, and establish deep-set relations through the exchange of valuable merchandise.
Aquillo is a quiet and reserved individual, he barely speaks, and comes off lightly shy, but he has been know to drink, make merry, and make a fool of himself and his "brethren." HE carries a fierce air about him that seems to come from a deep set rage nobody understands, or seems to know alot about. He is very vain with his appearance and his speech, as well as his ideas. He will argue, and occasionally fight, someone for hours and days in order to prove he, and his ideas, are the best there is.
He is also a very loving individual, taking great care of his allies, and his creations. He is known to wait for someone to confide in him, or even embrace him with love, but rarely actually vocalizes his desire to help out. He often expresses himself through quiet actions, and when visible, facial expressions. Those who get on his bad side, on the contrary, often feel his stares hot with anger and hate, rather than love and passion.
Appearance: What at first glance appears to be a tall, well-built male, upon closer inspection turns out to be an extremely technologically advanced Golem... Even closer inspection, however, reveals that there is very little in the way of metal parts to this man, most of it is simply for decoration. Zepp is bald, and stands roughtly 7' tall and proportionally broad, with the physical build of a football player. Aside from that, he looks rather average, but with various metal plates grafted to his body, including a lens over his left eye, and half of his right hand being forged of metal.
Of all the powers granted to him, Zepp works the hardest at landscaping and technological advances. He is a man of science, and values hard work. In the end, he wishes to embody the soul of hard science and technology (Think metalworks, craftsmanship, etc.)
Zepp has little affinity with the elements of water, fire, and air; but great affinity with the elements of earth and metal.
Zepp naturally prefers races more suited to architecture and crafted works rather than more artistic or warlike races. His own creations follow suit. (Dwarves instead of men or elves, for example.)
Zepp has an unusual habit of favouring naturally dangerous lands (Volcanoes, Earthquake fault lines, etc) for his works. His craftsmanship is strong and will be able to stand the test of these dangers, and even turn them to their advantage at times.
Personality: Aside from his passion for craftsmanship, Zepp greatly enjoys sticking his fingers into other people's puddings. With the thought that he is making their life more interesting, he will happily change someone else's works rather than start something of his own from scratch. However, in he interest of fairness, he is usually quite happy when someone messes around with his workmanship as well, and feels it's "All in good fun" even when lives are lost as a result.
He is very level-headed, and will usually be the first person to try and soothe an aggravated situation, and the last person to go to war or intentionally sabotage someone else.
Appearance: Casitus appears as a small child no older than eleven, with bright blue eyes and the lightest of brown hair, with skin that’s just one or two shades off of white. He wears a simple brown robe with some silver trimmings on it. The sleeves are too big and completely envelope his arms, whilst the robe drags across the floor behind him. It also has a hood. This is how he appears to both immortals and mortals. (subject to change with IC “aging”)
Innocence – Casitus is the very epitome of innocence, having no memory of any life from before. He currently feels no hatred or malice toward any living creature and is utterly trusting. Therefore these are the ideals he will encourage to start with, believing that everyone will be the same.
Adventure – In his youthful inexperience, Casitus has a boundless thirst for exploration and adventure. This isn’t just limited to physical adventure, but intellectual curiosity and a general motivation to try and learn as much as possible, something which he’ll try to reflect on to any creations.
Equality - With his child-like nature and innocence, Casitus does not yet understand the complex inner-workings of people who think they’re “better” than others. To Casitus all life is equal and should be cherished.
Personality: Casitus is just what you’d expect a completely innocent child to be like. Extremely na´ve about the ‘world’, differences between lying and telling the truth, when someone’s good or bad, none of these things make much sense to Casitus and he sometimes struggles to follow conversations which revolve around them. He is, however, very kind to those around him and has a generally positive disposition, even cheerful, which can be annoying for those not so inclined to optimism. The ‘young’ God is always willing to help others in order to try and make friends, and is more than eager to learn as much as he can from the ‘older’ Gods.
Appearance: Esvehe stands at a height about average among the gods, at around six and a half feet in height, with a moderately muscular, sinewy build, appearing about forty or so with his humanoid body. Esvehe's primary skin tone is a deep tan, but this is obscured by the bright golden tattoos which cover his entire body, taking the form of complex, intricately woven lines of varying thickness. These lines can be straight, loosely curving, or form complex flourishes. They merge at all sets of angles, and break and merge into one another. The complexity of this pattern is impossibly deep, but it is indeed a pattern - but one so complex not even Esvehe has truly figured it out yet.
Esvehe's face is defined by eyes of light grey, a well proportioned nose, high cheekbones, a small mouth, and grey, disheveled hair that falls to Esvehe's shoulders.
Esvehe's clothing is comparatively simple - a mere white toga with a wide black sash, with a simple row of jade diamonds running down it.
Desired Portfolio: Esvehe names himself the Lord of Unity, who merges and brings together all things. He makes the many one. Esvehe has no preference for stone or wave, wind or flame, shadow or light, earth or sky, life or death, war or peace. Alone, they are to him but a single color smeared across a canvas, leaving room for nothing else, and in their presence they make but an absence. It is only when the many colors are brought together as one that one can have a true masterpiece. They may not be present equally, and not every color must grace every canvas, but they must be together.
Esvehe, aside from Unity, does however have some defining preferences. Esvehe has a fondness for intricacy and detail that exceeds most deities, and so he paints his lands with the finest of brushes when others might you a less specific tool. Esvehe, preferring elements to work together as a whole, prefers interactions between what he makes and shapes, and will forge them as such. Symbiosis is a favorite tool of his.
Esvehe names himself Lord of Order, for he commands the elements of the world to be as one not as a chaotic almagation of elements turned about on one another, but a mellifluous symphony unto itself wherein each aspect is an instrument, whose melodies all merge into one another in a resplendent harmony, whose philharmonic glory stretches across the octaves with all manner of instrumental sections in a manner far greater than they would alone, but also much more than they would if simply thrown together at random. For a random collection would be just as crude and unworthy as a single element alone, and must be subject to a guiding hand of order and law to make them more than what they are.
Personality: Esvehe is logical and methodical in his actions, often seeing those tasks he chooses to completion with utmost quality. However, Esvehe is prone to acting on his whims, and may not always choose the most logical path to begin. This makes Esvehe somewhat unpredictable at the best of times, which suits him just fine. Esvehe is generally calm and not prone to great passion or anger, and while more than willing to make and maintain acquaintances, he rarely makes anything one would call a friendship, and while he does tend to have his enemies, they are usually caused by the other party.
Esvehe has a taste for intrigue, but is only moderately skilled at it. He also has a fondness for the artistic.
Esvehe's most striking tendency is his often excessively grand behavior. He will often speak in flowery terms with excessive gesturing, and likes to make a show of just about everything.
Notes: I shortened it a bit. I didn't feel a particularly detailed bio fit a roleplay about gods. I'll give up a point if anyone can figure the name out within 24 hours from this post.
Appearance: Frigus, the Overlord of Frost. He embodies his chosen ‘element’, with soft, pale white skin. His flesh almost seems to radiate the cold, his breath white when he breathes, regardless of the climate in which he stands. He appears to be an elderly man, perhaps in his early sixties, with cheeks covered in snowy white stubble and long curls the colour of snow. His eyes are a striking, piercing blue – speaking of intelligence and wisdom. His build varies, as does his dress, but regardless of what he wears he exudes an aura of power and a ‘no-nonsense’ attitude. He is a God; you will bow to him.
Desired Portfolio: Frigus wishes to install himself as Overlord of all things cold. He knows in his cold heart that he will be worshipped – and feared – by mortal races as the Father of Winter, the Bringer of the Coldsnap, Sender of Avalanches, Creator of Mountains and Pack Leader of Wolves.
In the old world, he devoted much of his time to his own ‘pet’ race of shaggy, mountain-dwelling men who spent much of their time fighting amongst themselves, playing with and raising packs of wolves, and drinking and making merry. He provided for his people, showering them with love and affection, bestowing upon them gift after gift. However, due to their prolonged exposure to his Godly form, his people had begun to grow sick and ill – cursed with colds, their young born stillborn or even frozen solid. Eventually, his people died out, and Frigus blamed himself.
Wrought with grief and self-hatred, he has vowed to himself that he will not love another race of men ever again, and that he will instead devote his time to moderating the season of winter and punishing those who dare venture into his mountainous domain.
Personality: Frigus is often wrapped up in his own ‘world’, muttering to himself and detaching himself from his siblings, trying to relive the happy memories he has of his interaction with his people in the old world. He is a strong-willed man, and easily angered; but, on the flip side, he is also extremely loyal to those Gods who have befriended him, and he will do his best to back them up in the petty squabbles of the Divines.
Due to the demise of his people, he is wracked with guilt and self-hatred, and has vowed not to involve himself in the creation of men ever again. He wishes to create for himself a cold, mountainous region where he may live, surrounded by the creatures of the North, separated from the petty squabbles of ‘foolish’, humanoid, mortal races.
Bio/History: In the last world, Frigus was one of the first ‘born’ Gods. Using willpower and strength unfathomable by mortal races, he ‘created’ himself; literally making for himself a physical form using only his mind. He was deeply involved in the creation of the previous world, and was one of the first Gods to create any sort of intelligent, self-thinking, living creature beyond fish, fowl or beast. He created a race of tall, broad-shouldered Northmen – similar to the Vikings of our own world. He loved his gruff, brave creations with all of his heart, showering them with affection and love, receiving in return praise and adoration for his generosity and Divine presence amongst them. However, he eventually caused the demise of his own people by being exposed to them for two long, causing him to flee the world and come to this new place – his focus now elsewhere, as he tries to deal with his grief.
Appearance: Maev'sil'vien is a goddess who has more than one form that she will wear on a regular basis. These two forms reflect her two most prominent aspects. In her first commonly assumed form she appears as a humanoid female figure that stands approximately 7 feet in height. Maev'sil'vien has skin that is as pale as milk and she appears to glow with a light that is nothing less than otherworldly. Her hair and eyes are both the color of liquid gold and her eyes glow with a burning warmth that many find unpleasant to behold. She wears a raiment of the purest white and gold and this raiment like her actual body glows with a feverish warmth. From her shoulders and upper back emerge four long spines that appear to be made of ivory and have a pure white coloration. These spines are about 3 feet long in their base state and can grow or retract. When she uses powers they often glow and the power appears to be channeled through them.
Her other major form is almost the opposite. Maev'sil'vien remains physically similar and retains her otherworldly beauty but many of the details have changed. Her skin remains pale, but now it does not seem to glow but rather draw in light that surrounds her. Her hair changes to silver but still falls down to the middle of her back. The raiment she wears now colored in the darkest black and the purest silver and here eyes have also changed to become silver in color. The spines that grow from her shoulders and upper back are jet black in this form and emit wisps of shadow like the rest of her form. In this form they seem to belch forth shadow when she channels her power and to absorb light as well. There is a sense of cold from her in this form, but it is not to the intensity of the heat her other guise emits.
Desired Portfolio: Maev'sil'vien was the embodiment of light and shadow in the world that she initially came from and in several worlds after that. Her domain includes the powers of light and the powers of the darkness. From light comes heat which all life needs, but light can also be a force of destruction, the light of the sun can burn after all. From darkness can come death, but the darkness also shelters from the burning light. She is an embodiment of both Life and Death, Creation and Destruction, Light and Dark.
Personality: Maev'sil'vien is an ancient goddess who has survived the rise and fall of several worlds. Each time she has managed to survive and enter into the new world as it is born and the old world falls away into the void. Her age makes her disinclined to play well with those she views as younglings and beneath her but she is disinclined to bring down her wrath unless someone specifically goes out of their way to target her. She has aspects of both good and evil within herself and both will frequently play a role in determining the kind of responses that are given by her to various stimuli.
Appearance: Agora has a tall, lean appearance to her figure, towering over most women at a six feet tall with slender limbs and a small waist. Her divine form is a head full of hair made of steam and smoke, pale skin from remaining in the Underworld and small markings that mimic the veins of precious minerals that she covets. Although her appearance can change at will through her own powers, she prefers to visit mortals in the forms of former loved ones or familiar faces. She does have the tendency to change into beasts and creatures when defending the Underworld from those who try and take the souls without permission, although that is far from a common occurrence.
-Underworld: Resurrection, the reception of souls and ensuring the proper route to the afterlife. As a female goddess who lost her only love, she takes in all souls to help sort and guide to a proper afterlife.
-Justice: As the bringer of souls to the underworld, she usually is the last dealer of justice for many of the darker souls of the world. When they have evaded authority and proper judgement throughout life, she is the deity who observes all and decides for the wicked dictators and thieves alike.
-Wealth/Precious Stones: Caves rich with precious stones and diamond covered caverns are often associated with passages to the Underworld.
(I figure I'll be adding more over time but I would let that develop organically.)
Personality: Although she has an entirely dark and dreary niche in the world of godlike domains, Agora is a level headed, almost maternal individual. She is calculating, with foresight into all of her actions and a lot of thought before she acts. She maintains a good relationship with almost all of the immortals and rarely ever holds any ill will.
How does your deity behave: She is seen by other gods as a neutral force who does not hold favorites over any others. She ushers the dead from either side and holds no grudges. Other Gods might approach Agora asking for her help to bring an Avatar back that remains in the Underworld. The other Gods don't usually alter the Underworld due to the delicate and equalizing balance that it holds on the world.
What are their goals: Agora's main goal in the world is to help hold a balance between the souls entering and leaving the world, more like a traffic conductor than anything else. She has no secret ambitions but to prolong the 'life' of the world they're working to create by reducing the amount of spirits and their energy remaining in the world. The overload of otherworldly beings would inherently destroy the fabric of the world over time without shuffling the living and dead back and forth.
What are their preferred methods of changing the world: By bartering and negotiating with the other Gods. She has no interest in creating the largest city or a race to dominate all others on the planet. Instead she wants to cultivate the Underworld, help keep justice and create the precious materials underground.
As far as initial plans for the beginning of the world, Agora hopes to create a location that is a common space for the Gods to meet and be neutral. A safe haven of (planned) beauty and purity. The beginning race to be created would be the first, primitive faeries.
-Born from the God of Love in the Old World, who shed a tear for the loss of his only love, which fell to the ground and sprouted Agora. He doted on her and was known to show her great favor for her young beauty.
-Lived as the Goddess of Wealth in the last world due to her father's inclination to cause others to give gifts. Her somewhat vain personality was doubled with the wealth of the old world under her patronage.
-She fell in love with another immortal in the last world; the two were benevolent and kind until he was destroyed to the point of even being unable to locate the other deity's soul.
-Changed in appearance from her bright, almost mortal appearance to something more ethereal and smoky to coincide with her slight change in personality.
-Came to the new world with a promise to help manage to and help those who pass on. She's a gentle being that doesn't wish to fill the Underworld with more bodies- she feels every planet has too many deceased souls anyway.
* * * * *
First things first, we're going to put the stuff from the Interest Check that's relevant right here.
In this roleplay, there are three stages. I will decide when they will occur, but I'm thinking that the First Age will continue until we've developed the map and there's a general consensus of contentment in the OOC, and we'll decide on how long the following stages will last.
The stages are:
- The First Age - The Dawn of Worlds. In this age, all participating members of the roleplay will try and change the landscape of the world, not create races. The map will slowly be influenced in climate and geography according to player choices.
- The Second Age - The Rise of Mortals. The races of the world are easier to create and advance in this age. Here, the seeds of sentience are planted in the world, and mortals are crafted according to their gods' designs.
- The Third Age - The Tumultuous Times. This is the age in which conflict between the races is easiest to conduct. Religious sects begin to form, and civilizations wage war.
I will not be playing a deity in this roleplay, at least not a deity with powers. I will be playing the world, which will be named whatever we decide to name it in the OOC. I will be solely using Event powers, which may be good or bad, and will use a randomized chart to determine what happens and where.
I will have to ask you all to put a bit of trust in me, because I'm going to be rolling to see how many power points you gain each 'turn.' Since this is a forum roleplay, I will be rolling double the points for everyone, so that everyone can do more things in one 'turn,' and let you take two actions each turn. You can roleplay outside of your actions, too, but power points will only be granted when it seems reasonable for a turn to be 'up.'
Note: Be sure, before you post ANYTHING in the in-character thread, to save what you've written and refresh the page to make sure someone else hasn't taken an action that gets in the way of yours. If someone creates a great canyon where you were going to put your forest, you've obviously got to do a little bit of rewriting or have to work something out with the other player... or you can just grow the forest in or around the canyon. You ARE a god, after all.
When I distribute points, I will display the information in the following format:
Bob gains 10 power.
Bessie gains 12 power.
Shankmasterxx gains 11 power.
Special races will not cost extra points. However, I'd like for you to give your race one or two 'perks' when you create them, and you must have an equal number of 'flaws.' If you wish to remove a single flaw OR add one more trait (and this can only be done once), you must do so when creating your new race (or subrace). This will cost you an additional 50% points, rounded up.
(Remember: These races may be eventually used for a second roleplay in which others will play the races you've designed.)
In this roleplay, please realize that there is no way to eliminate another god. You may fight, you may have your minions declare war on each other, but even if you eliminate all of another god's peoples, that god can still conjure up terrible disasters to strike your species down, or turn your species against itself, or convert whole nations to the opposite alignment. Gods die, but in this roleplay, they do not die to each other (unless a player needs to leave the roleplay and needs a way out).
Concerning maps: I haven't yet decided on a map, but this is also because I want input from you guys. How large of a world do you want? What sort of starting shape would we like? Also, do you have a program you'd suggest I use for the creation and upkeep of this map? (If there is a website with a picture that we can all interact with and edit, that would be grand.)
Once we have a map, note that I will be using a grid system. Changing terrain or placing a city happens inside of one square on the grid. We will draw in the changes made at the end of each turn, not at the end of each action, mostly so that I don't have to edit the same page 12 times in one turn. I will be uploading an updated map to the IC thread at the beginning of each turn.
NEW: Races may have a maximum 'Good/Purity' level of +5 and a maximum 'Evil/Corruption' level of -5. When you first create a race, they may have +1, 0, or -1 Purity/Corruption. Please note that this has no influence on mechanics and is merely a measure of how 'good' or 'evil' the race is.
Now, with all of this "This is how we're doing things" stuff done, let's give you the character sheet, shall we?
* * * * *
Character Name - Replace the words 'Character Name' with, well, your character's name. Feel free to apply font color. You're gods, you can have a bright rainbow colored name for all I care.
Sex: 'Yes please' is not an answer.
Appearance: 1-2 sentences minimum; more than that is optional. Pictures are optional. No nudity.
Desired Portfolio: What powers or ideals does your deity wish to embody?
Personality: How does your deity behave? What are their goals? What are their preferred methods of changing the world?
If there is more information you wish to write up, go ahead. Just don't go overboard. I'm not going to force you to write an essay; I just want to see a cast of characters, preferably a varied cast.
* * * * *
I think that's everything. I know this is a rough OOC, but there you have it. I am looking for a cast of 6 players total, with myself as the seventh participant acting solely as a GM. Please note that. If you can convince me (and I can't promise you will), I may allow one or two players more than that number, but I refuse to go above 8 players.
The following players have priority to join this thread if they so choose to: Ghurdich, Squrmy, Infinitus, Raptorman, Chelubai, and Blandman.
