Return of the Ranger Reboot (IC)

It was a bright shining day yet again at Angel Grover and years have passed since the signals blared danger. The Rangers for all intents and purposes were gone as the world had no need for them. The first generation came from space and gave their powers away to a group of humans who in terms kept their fight going against the Monster King Rashim. Alpha 5 remembered the days of Zordon before he was killed by the General Harklok and the other rangers in the halls preparing to test themselves against the powers of the king. However those were long gone and twenty years had past. Alpha was busy, as usual, keeping the place maintained in hopes of the Rangers returning one day. However he doubted it would ever happen again. The sacrifice of the past rangers were something of note. Two of the six rangers died stalling for their friends, the pink and black ranger, and their morphers recovered by the Red Ranger and the Green Ranger later. The Red Ranger was crippled in the final fight leaving him feeling powerless and guilty. The dinozords were all repaired and sent back to their hiding places for later use. Only one Ranger survived 'completely' unharmed The Green Ranger and their friend and mentor The Phantom Ranger. The Phantom Ranger had went away with the Green Ranger after depositing the morpher and of the Green Ranger and the other morphers back in their places. Red Ranger lost his spirit and went away to other parts seeking to find out if he still had the strength to be a ranger, and Yellow still vanished after the former Black Ranger and Pink Ranger died. Yellow felt guilty over his inability to help his comrades. In truth Alpha did not know where they were now nor did he know how to find them. However he did miss the Red and the Green Ranger and the Yellow Ranger who was missing in action and left his morpher behind. But it was all for nothing as the General stopped and killed Zordon in this very place they stood using some sort of black magic. Thankfully he was stopped from destroying the rest of the things thanks to the Phantom Ranger. In Zordon's last breath he transferred what he could to the powerful Phantom Ranger and he became protector and head of the rangers in his stead. Oh how Alpha missed those days so much if only he could have them back! Suddenly footsteps sounded from the entrance to the Rangers HQ. Alpha started to panic and rushed to the security consoles, what was going on!? He did not know because there had been no message from the Alien Rangers returning to help them or the returning of the others so it had to be an evil person! Alpha looked down the hall as the footsteps got closer and the panic really set in! "Who's there! Ay yi yi please don't com-" but before he could finish the familar sight appeared to Alpha. "You're...you're back!? Where's-" The black armored ranger raised his hand and shook his head. "Patience Alpha we must work quickly, I will explain everything later I promise. If we don’t work quickly bad things will happen. Now come with me or else the Rangers be destroyed forever. It will be just like old times." The Phantom Ranger said and then walked over to Alpha to explain what was to come...

The bell rang in the halls of Angel Grove Community College as Professor Dom explained that they were to study the final chapter on mathematical equations for homework. Joe pulled out his cellphone and text messaged all the guys and girls of his little circle to meet him in the cafeteria for a little group meeting. "Hey professor I'm going to come by tomorrow for a bit of help if you don't mind." Joe called down to the professor who was getting his stuff all together but was having a hard time due to the fact he had a hard time walking due to a birth problem that left him with a stiff left leg and he nodded and told him to come by at two o'clock. The rest of the class was already trying to get out of the class as quick as possible. He couldn't wait to get outside it was so cold in the school thanks to all the air conditioners! He straightened up his dark green jacket and golden watch, a gift from his father for passing high school, and got his stuff together. He headed to the door and wondered what the day was going to be like. He liked Professor Dom a lot the guy was a cool guy in his opinion. He was fair, he helped you out, and he was one hell of a straight and honest guy. He was the sort of teacher you sat down and laughed with but he was still very mature in his own way. Joe wondered how everyone was doing and hoped they were doing alright.

Sonny let the upbeat music fill him as he did a series of complicated dance moves. He was alone in the dance studio that was off campus, working on a dance routine he would perform at a recital. Hip hop dance was his life. His passion. When the song ended, Sonny jogged over to the sound system and turned it off. He was huffing and puffing for air as he used his shirt to wipe the sweat from his forehead. He took one quick look at himself in the mirror and did a goofy pose. He always loved his body. It was in perfect shape and the real looker. Still, he wondered why he still didn't have a boyfriend yet. Shrugging, he went to the back area to shower and put fresh clothes on. After about an hour, he left the dance studio with his duffle bag and clean clothes on. They consisted of a yellow tank top, some skinny jeans, and some black converse. He had already done his hair in the locker room. Now he was just starving. Just then he received a text message from someone. Sonny took out his iPhone and unlocked it, seeing it was a message from Joe wanting to meet at the campus cafeteria. Perfect timing. He got into his car and drove off down the street where his college was. He was already done with his classes so he didn't really need to stay after lunch. Sonny parked his car in the student parking lot and walked into the building where the cafeteria was at. Once inside he helped himself to a sandwich, chips, and water, walking to a nearby round table and sitting there. Sonny ate in silence as he waited for the others to get there. There were quite a few people in the cafeteria since it was the usual hangout spot for many students.

The library seemed to be quiet as she worked on her paper. It was due tomorrow and she had procrastinated. It wasn't something she did often but there had been a lot of her mind. McKenzie sighed as she sat back in the wooden chair she sat in. Surely there had to be a faster way to get this done. There were times she hated her psychology teacher. Did he even read these papers? She highly doubted it. Frustrated, McKenzie pulled out her phone to see that Joe had sent her a text message. He wanted to meet in the cafeteria. "Why not? I need a break anyway." She closed her laptop and shoved it into her pink backpack. Standing, she put the backpack over her shoulder and left the library. Her long black hair was down for once and it was odd to feel it brushing against her exposed neck and shoulders. Today she was dressed in a pink, off the shoulder shirt with long sleeves and jeans that fit her body just right. Passing by a few guys, she could see them as they looked her over. McKenzie rolled her eyes. All of these guys seemed to be the same.

She found her way to the cafeteria and looked around. She didn't see Joe but she did spot Sonny. Without another thought, she went right over to where he was and sat down. Before either of them could say anything, she had pulled out her laptop and got to work on her paper again. Most would think the library would have been a better place to do homework but the white noise in the background of the cafeteria seemed to help the girl more than the silence did. She was furiously typing away as she tried to finish the stupid paper. "I just don't understand this. Why would he even make us write a paper like this?" McKenzie had a bad habit of talking to herself when she did homework. It was a habit she really needed to break. Finally, she looked over at Sonny. "Hey Sonny. Hows your routine coming along?" Both of them were dancers and she enjoyed talking dance with him.

The sound of heavy machinery and the repeated clicking of a hex wrenchs filled TJ's ears as he stared intently into the open hood of the car he had been instructed by his professor to work on. Normally he would have been right to work on it, to be fair there were numerous problems with it; the radiator was shot, the transmission was blown, and several fuses were outright missing. It was a hefty order, but nothing he couldn't fix...except for one thing, one very big thing. When his professor eventually approached, he stared curiously at the young man, cocking his peppered eyebrow up slightly as he observed the young man. "TJ? Its not like you to just sit there staring, normally you'd be done by now. Something bothering you?"

Normally, the question might have elicited a small snort, or even a casual "None of your business", but this situation wasn't exactly what TJ would call "Normally". After a few more minutes of staring intently at the inner workings of the car, he rose and turned to face the professor, all the while pointing his hex wrench back at the car. "Look...I know that we're student workers 'an this is all a part of our grade, but I ain't gettin paid to do a thousand dollar job here. That engine block has a damn crack in it around the back the size of the San Andres and the only way you're fixin that is with a new engine. Now..." He looked around, holding out his arms pointedly, as if to emphasize his point, "Pardon my saying, but I don't seem to have been provided with an extra engine in my work area."

The professor seemed rather amused by this than anything else, going so far as to chuckle in amusement. "Of all the students here today, you're the first person to notice that...think of this as a lesson in carefully looking over instructions, and I'm pleased to say you've passed with flying colors." TJ could only imagine the looks on the faces of his fellow students when they found out about this next class, and was even preparing to comment to the effect of "That's messed up" before he was interrupted by the bell signaling the end of class. Giving his professor a casual wave, he set off from his class, only to moments after receive a text message from Joe asking for him and a few others to show up in the cafeteria. Now, did he particularly like Joe? Well to be fair he didn't particularly like anyone, but Joe had done enough to earn enough of his respect that he responded that he'd be right there. Thankfully, the cafeteria wasn't that far off from the Garage on campus, and it was only a few minutes of a walk before he was there.

Upon walking in, he immediately saw two people he'd previously seen hanging out with Joe on other occasions around school, and while he was aware of who they were, he'd never really put much stock into overly talking to them. Still, if Joe wanted a little powwow between friends, he didn't see why he couldn't spare the time, wasn't like he had anything better to do at the moment. He walked up to the table and sat down quietly and rather abruptly placed both feet up on the table, using the leverage to lean his chair back and forth; might as well relax if he had to wait, and the look on his face was that of subtle boredom, laced with just a tiny undertone of letting the other two know to just ignore him and continue on with whatever it was they were jabbering on about.

Benji was struggling to get the vending machine to accept his crumpled dollars so he could buy a some off brand energy drink. He was beyond exhausted right now and if he didn't get some caffeine soon it was doubtful that he'd make it through the day without passing out. He'd had a huge biology test today and he'd stayed up all night studying, he could probably quote his text book verbatim by now but he wouldn't be able to stop worrying about it until he knew his grade. After a couple minutes of him arguing with the vending machine it finally took his money and a can fell fell out. He grabbed his drink and continued wandering around the campus. He had a few hours until his other class and was just looking to kill some time. He was about to head to the library to some algebra homework when he got a text message from Joe. He wanted to meet in the cafeteria for a group meeting, the guy had perfect timing because the last thing Benji really wanted to do was math homework.

He texted Joe back, perfect timing dude, you just saved me from the horrors of algebra homework, before heading to the cafe. As he walked he popped open the can and drank some of the energy drink. It tasted pretty bad but he hoped it would at least keep him awake and alert for awhile. He walked into the cafeteria and looked around for a familiar face. It only took him a couple seconds to spot Sunny, McKenzie, and TJ sitting at table and he headed over to join them. “Hey, what's up?” Benji said as he sat down at the table with them. He was a bit curious why Joe was looking to have a meeting but was also excited to get to know Joe's other friends who he'd really only met a few other times.

Joe had trouble getting there before the others because of the crowded hall way areas but he didn't mind. After all his friends were not going anywhere were they? Hopefully they hadn't killed each other but there was always that chance they would! He pushed his way past the last group of kids on his way to the cafeteria and he waved over to the group he assembled as he walked over. Joe sat down next to TJ and grabbed a bottle of water out of his jacket pocket. "How's it goin' guys? Sorry for being late there was a herd of cows we call our class mates gathered in the halls down by Professor Dom's class." Joe asked as he smiled at everyone and greeted them individually hoping that he hadn't caused any unneeded commotion.

As Sonny was eating his lunch, he looked up when he saw McKenzie approach his table and sat down. He gave a wave at her as she sat down and went away at her laptop. He that was the type of person she was. Whenever she had some kind of work to do, that's the only thing that was on her mind at the moment. So he didn't bother her until she spoke to him. Sonny started giggling when she became frustrated at the paper she was writing. "You should have seen the Psychology paper I had to write last week. I wanted to pull my hair out and cry. It was ridiculous." He knew she was talking to herself but he found it funny to comment all the time. He took a drink of his water before answering her. They were both dancers so they always found themselves talking about routines. "It's going great actually! I just need to tweak it a bit more and then it'll be ready for the recital."

In the middle of talking, he noticed TJ approach their table and sit with his feet up. He looked over to McKenzie and giggled a bit as he ate one of his chips. Sonny never really spoke to TJ that often but they got along okay. They were just complete polar opposites. Sonny gave TJ a small wave before picking up his sandwich and taking another bite. Not a moment too soon, Benji came up to the table and sat down with them with his energy drink. McKenzie and Joe were the only ones he talked to all the time. He only got a chance to socialize with TJ and Benji whenever Joe wanted everyone together which wasn't all the time. "So how are you boys doing today?" Sonny asked after he drank his water. His eyes glanced over and saw Joe as he came up to them sitting down. "Well, it's the man of the hour. Everything is good with me. How are you?" Sonny bit his bottom lip only slightly when Joe mentioned Professor Dom. "He just needs to hurry up and confess his love for me. He needs to quit lollygagging around," Sonny said jokingly.

"Bro Professor Dom is cool just like you are but he does not roll that way like you do no offense intended of course. Plus he's what double our age I wouldn't have thought you were into guys that old. Besides isn't he dating an old girl friend of his from back when he was in high school? Moving on before the subject gets uncomfortable for you guys. As for how I'm doing...well nothing special is going on dealing with some stuff here and there and I'm getting ready for that charity run in a month. Got everything ready for that." Joe said as he yawned to himself and looked around hoping this wasn't uncomfortable for the people here. He really hoped he was not offending Sonny but that could happen he supposed. After all the duo of doom of the school weren't bothering him right now so that was something. "But that wasn't what I was callin' you guys here for. But before I go on about it I want to hear what you guys are up to." Joe said trying to act like a friend to everyone but he sounded like a dork and a loser he knew it. Regardless he was going to try and make sure the guys didn't just think he was gathering them here for some social call.

Sonny rolled his eyes and drunk some of his water. "It's called a joke. Have a sense of humor. You don't hear me complaining when you guys go around talking about how some girl is hot." Sonny's sass instantly came out, taking a bite of his sandwich. He really got irritated when straight guys got so uptight for no reason. He would be going crazy right now if McKenzie wasn't a part of their little group. He swallowed it and looked around the table. "Well I'm fine. I'm done with dance practice for today so I really don't have anything else to do besides go home and get an icepack for my leg." He sighed, grabbing the remainder of his food and throwing it away in a nearby trashcan.

Benji stayed quiet while Sonny and McKenzie talked about Sonny's dance routine since he knew less than nothing about dancing. It wasn't long before Joe showed up and explained that he'd gotten held up after his class by the crowds in the hallways. He had to chuckle a bit when Sonny mentioned that Professor Dom was secretly in love with him. “Seriously mate, if you hooked up with Dom he'd be texting you all the time asking if you've finished your homework or trying to take you to mathematics symposiums with him. You'd probably die of boredom.” He said replying to the comment with a joke. Joe had asked how they were all doing and Benji was starting to worry about why he'd asked them all to met. “I've been alright, had brutal bio test today but I'm thinking I did alright.” He said shrugging a bit, right now his life pretty much centered on school, training and work. Benji had a part time job at a comic book store. “What's up with you Joe? You sound like you're either about to tell us you've won the lottery or some seriously bad news.”
