Demons and Vampires, mortal being depicted in legend and lore throughout the most literate, and more aware parts of mankind’s history. Two ancient blood lines, locked in a struggle that defines the ideal of eternal. It is a conflict that began with the dawn of time: when god first spoke into existence the three races of the three-fold lands: Angels of the heavens, Vampires of the Earth, Demons of the hells.
The dawn of antiquity was a time of great violence, as the war between heaven and hell waged between the three races. Demons fought angels in the hallowed halls, or so the story goes. The chief betrayer, Satan, was cast down for his part in the onslaught, and in the end, the demons thrown from the gatesof heaven, onto the earth below. The angels, who as a result of the war, had lost a vast amount of their population, have shut themselves in heaven. In an effort to avoid such circumstances again, they venture beyond heaven’s walls as little as possible.
The vampires, who during the war largely took the side of heaven, are a different story. No gates separate them from the rage of the defeated demonic hoard, and with Satan’s leadership organizing them, the Vampires now find themselves locked in a war they cannot win, yet cannot afford to lose. They fight to maintain the stalemate, to protect heaven’s light… to uphold the ancient and old agreements…
The war continues amongst the kingdoms of men.
Vampires as a host of heaven?:
The idea here is that, innately, their ‘feeding’ isn’t viewed as an evil act, but seen simply as an act of survival. Their feeding on humans, who in the definition of this roleplay are a lesser race, is viewed no differently than the human consumption of a cow. Innately, its not evil. Remove that from the equation, and I believe it’ll make more sense. But in truth, their position is more of a neutral, where they joined sides for some benefit (which will be revealed through play).
Characters:
During chapter 1, I request that all characters be limited to the Demons or Vampires. Please no angels or hybrids at this point. Perhaps later we will involve others, but not yet.
BOTH races are human looking aside from slight physical differences. The vampires and their fangs. Demons and their red eyes.
Vampires possess a greater strength and agility than normal humans, and a slightly greater advantage over that of demons. Vampires are photophobic to sun light. It isn’t lethal, like burning of the skin, but increased exposure creates a toxin that can become lethal if allowed to build up. The rate of production of this toxin is a variable, and thus exposure is avoided as much as possible. The toxin, once created, isn’t one the body of a vampire can expel. Once its in the system, it remains. Latten effects of this toxin can include psychosis, decline in mental functioning, weakness, and eventually death.
Demons, while possessing a strength greater than that of humans, are slightly weaker than vampires, but they’ve talents in other areas. In order to exist on earth, the demon soul must inhabit a physical form (that of a human). Without a human host, the soul is drawn back to hell, and is unable to interact with the physical world. The only way to actually kill a demon is to kill its host. A problem occurs when a demon is slain in a open or public venue. Lets say you shoot a demon in the heart in a mall. The body starts to die from the trauma, but this death isn’t instant… The demon has the ability to leap from the dying host into a fresh host given certain conditions are met:
1.) The host is within 10 feet of the dying host.
2.) The new or target host bears a tainted soul (sinner’s soul: Murderer, rapist, adulterer, thief… use your imagination).
A vampire is not capable of telling if a demon’s soul was vanquished or if a transference has taken place, however, a demon cannot immediately take over a human host. The transference requires a lot of its strength, and a 24 hour recovery time is enacted before control over the new host can be achieved. .
