Justice League: The Rising

Fox was watching over the city, a new sight in her eyes. She was wearing a black out fit, a mask covering her face. "So...a new place, a new start" Her ear whig went off. "Yes, Tony?...I know I have the gig, I just wanted a look around thats all..." She ran across the roof tops, shadows hiding her movements. She watched the city below and sighed. "I have to stop them...I have to stop the horsemen..."

Tony was sitting at the studio, watching Fox running thru his bird in the sky. "Maggie...you don't have to do this..." He said quietly, watching her run. He looked to his left at a picture on his desk. It was of three people. Two girls and Tony. One was a red head with bright blue eyes. The other was a dark brown with hazel eyes. He sighed, moving his red hair out of his face. "I'm trying sis...but she only listened to you"

Fox jumped over a roof top and said "tony, it's not like we can call a hotline for bad guys wanting to take over the world. Besides, I'm part of this mess and I'm going to fix it" tony sighed and said "alright, if you say so..." Fox stopped when she heard bank alarms. Tony said quickly "could be anything, fox" fox smiled and said "or could be our next clue in finding these guys...." She ran towards the alarms, her shadows moving around her to cloak her in darkness.

In the watch tower Wonder Woman was heading for the platforms as the alarms went off. "A bank robbery this time of night....when will we ever get a break." She ran into the control and looked around for any of her teammates to go with her down to the planet.

Batman was hard at work, as usual, doing research on some investigation or another, when he heard a signal alert on a monitor behind him. A red light was flashing on the grid map of the city.

"Another alarm," Batman said in his usually droll tone as he looked at the monitor. He narrowed his eyes in concentration as he tried to center the coordinates of the alarm. "This is a highly secure place. Whoever set that alarm obviously means business."

Batman dashed over to the bat mobile and hopped in, closing the roof above him and speeding out of the cave and down the streets of Gotham.

Wonder Woman landed on a roof top with the Flash running up and landing next to her. "So, why are we here?" Diana pointed at the bank below. "Thats why we are here" They both jumpped down just as three teenagers ran out the main doors. Wonder woman rasied her hand and said "Stop where you are...you won't beat..." She suddenly held her head and Flash said "Hey, you alright?" she shook her head as the biggest guy laughed. "Looks like even the Justive League can't stop us...rush em" The other two, a white haired girl and young man. The girl opened her mouth and screamed at the pair, sending Diana and Flash flying into the building. The big guy walked over and grabbed both heros and pinning them against the wall. "Now lets have some fun..." Flash fought to break his grip but Diana looked like she was about to be sick. Then a voice rang out. "I wouldn't do that, heavy. Put them down..." All three turned and saw a woman walk out of the shadows. Heavy smiled. "Well, a new player..." He dropped the two heros and Fox smiled at him. "Hands up folks..." Heavy threw Flash and Wonder woman into the building, Flash blacking out.

Flash moaned and started to come around when he heard a voice say "Now, the cops will be here soon...and I will give you all one chance to promise you won't go back to the source...let teh power rush go..." Flash heard a car nearby and knew the engine. "Bats..." Fox turned then said "More to the party I guess..." She brushed herself off as the three teenagers were hanging from the wall, their own shadows holding them there.

Batman approached the scene of the robbery within minutes, and pulled the car in the back lot of the bank. He hopped out and leapt with his usual stealth up to the roof of the building and made his way over to where he heard some talking. Soon, he looked over the corner of the building, and was shocked to see the Flash laying unconscious in the rubbled ruin of a wall. Well, maybe not so much Flash. He was cocky, and Batman knew he would make mistakes that led him to these situations. What really shocked him was seeing Wonder Woman laying nearby. She was hurt, and she looked like she was going to be sick soon.

Batman looked around and saw a strange...person...he thought he saw ears on her that gave her a wolf like appearance...standing out in the open. She was talking up three teenagers, who were hanging upside down from the ceiling. Looks like she beat me too it, Batman couldn't help thinking. Cautiously, he descended the wall until he was kneeling beside the Flash and Wonder Woman.

"Flash," he said, trying to steady them. "Diana. What happened here?"

Flash moaned and tried to sit up. "We got ambushed...then Diana got sick and I couldn't get a grip....then she showed up....I think I blacked out after that....ow" he held his head as fox sighed and said the to kids "fine, hang there till the cops get here. There are more ways to stop you from going back. Trust me, you will thank me later" she then walked over to Diana and knelt down beside her, then tapped her earpiece attached to her mask that was showing the ear affect. "Tony? Ya, I got a odd case here....no, the kids were new. They didn't stand much of a chance. No, I need you to bring up wonder woman's file....so, magically strength and flight....you think it could have an bad reaction to the source?....alright, I get scans then clean up" she then pulled out a small scanner and started taking scans of Wonder Woman.


From what the pair could see of her eyes, she looked worried. When she was done she picked Diana up and walked over to the other pair. "Your friend needs a hospital right away. I'm not sure what's wrong, but it could kill her" flash tried to move again as he said "how did you beat.....those guys so easily?" Fox smiled and then set Diana gently next to batman. "It helps when you've fought them before. Name is Shadow Fox. And you guys have a Rising on your hands"

"I can run a basic diagnostic and start work on a cure back at the cave," Batman said, checking her pulse. "Shadow Fox, huh? Would you mind telling us just what happened here, and who you are?" He picked Wonder Woman up and have her over to Flash. "Put Diana in the Batmobile and meet me back at the cave. I think I'd like a moment alone with our little 'friend' here.

Batman touched his earpiece activating the communicator. "Superman, Lantern. You may want to get over here. Something big might be coming up."


Clark Kent was taking notes in a press release when he heard his communicator buzz. He stood up and left the room as he put the earpiece in, and heard Batman's voice on the other end. "Something big might be coming up. A couple of super powered kids, and someone calling herself 'Shadow Fox.'"

"I'm on my way," Kent said. He went into a supply closet and changed into his signature outfit before flying away.

Flash nodded and picked Diana up, putting her in the bat mobile then said "meet you at the cave....and thanks fox for the save" then he was gone. Fox leaned against the bank wall and said "I stopped the bad guys. And I told you, my name is shadow fox. Not much more for me say" then they both heard a voice from above "why do I find that hard to believe" green lantern landed by batman, looking shadow fox over. "Maybe we should call John and ask him to check her out" fox raised an eyebrow "your Alien from mars? The mind reader? Look I'm not here to hurt anyone" GL looked at batman and said "what happened? I thought Wonder Woman was handling this"

"So did I," Superman said, floating into the room. "And Diana should have been more than capable of taking care of these bozos. What happened?"

"I don't know," Batman said. "I was just about to ask Shadow here about that." He turned to her. "What were you saying a moment ago about a 'rising?' What are you planning?"

"Take it easy, Batman," Superman said, placing a hand on his shoulder. Batman snorted and stepped back, looking up at the three teens still hanging upside down. Superman shook his head and looked back at the Fox. "You'll have to excuse Batman. He's a bit...untrusting. You said you were Shadow Fox, right? I'm Superman. Care to explain what went on just now?"

GL shook his head as Fox said "I was out on a run, then heard the alarms. I have been looking for Source Kids since I came to town so I thought I would take a look. When I got here, both your guys were about to get beaten to death by a Source Kid named Heavy. So I wrapped them up and then was trying to talk them not into going back to the Source when the man in black showed up. That's all I know"

She heard a beep in her ear and she touched it and said "I'm in the middle of something, Tony" Tony was typing fast when he said "Fox, you need to get out of there now" She took a few steps away and said "Tony, stop messing around." TOny said as he read the scans again "Fox, I'm not kidding. I just finished with Wonder Woman's scans. She has it alright. She's been infected by the Source" Fox blinked then looked at the three standing there then said "Tony, that's not possible. The Source wasn't here" "I know Fox, that's what I'm saying. This means that those kids are still active. Radio Active. And you might be too. You need to get out of there before more of them get sick or worse" Fox nodded then said "What about the kids? I can't take them with me?" Tony rubbed his eyes and said "I don't know..you might have them high enough so it won't hurt them. But you can't let them touch you until I'm sure its not you" Fox nodded amd said "Over and out"

She looked back at the three heros, GL and Batman looking up to decide how to get the punks down. So she turned and started to head for the doors, praying they wouldn't try and stop her. "Breath Fox, just get out of here and fast..." She thought.

"Now just hold up there, little lady," Superman said. He put a firm, yet still gentle hand on her shoulder as she tried to back away. "You still haven't answered me. We need to know what's going on here. Anything you know, please tell us."

"You're wasting your time," Batman said. He threw one of his batarangs up, slicing the rope that held the three teenagers off the ground, and they fell with a thud. He turned to Lantern. "Fly them back to the cave, and tell Flash we'll catch up."

He walked back over to the Wolf and stared into her eyes. "We should analyze her. For all we know, Diana could have contracted something from her, or maybe those other kids."

"I think you're right," Superman said, relenting. He turned back to Shadow. "Last chance to tell us what's up, Shadow."
