END OF DAYS OOC
Zombie Apocolypse (DayZ)
This is a thread that will be run very much like a Dungeons and Dragons style, turned based system... I will be Dungeon Master and will give the story lines, I also have here a pair of dice which will be rolled to decide likely hood of what you want to do working, and also the benefit you receive from it.
FOR EXAMPLE... I will roll two dice, the first will depict the likelihood of you opening the cache you want to open. If it is an even number you may open the cache, if it is an odd number you may not... You may wait 3 turns and try again or you may move on if you are unsuccessful... If you are allowed to open it, the loot will be decided by the second roll... The higher the number rolled the better (statistically) the loot. Some items can only be carried once, for example a players primary weapon may be two handed (M4A1 Carbine) this must be dropped for any other weapon... Another player in your party may roll to decide if they can pick up yours in place of theirs. In the roll, a 6 will get you, for the example... A silent AK47 with underslug Grenade Launcher, which will do 50 damage and have 20 defence with a chance to get +10 from the Grenade Launcher, whereas a roll of 1 will get you a hand axe with the stats 8-3.
A story line will be provided through out the game as you progress through a map, which I will be basing on real areas of the world using google earth to plot your movements. Maps are available to find in caches, to help you plot where you want to go... Some areas will have better loot than others.
More ideas will be 'updated' as I go along, but this is the basic plot line. I will explain battle systems and movement systems as we get to them, in a tutorial style manner... Enjoy folks, I'm brimming with plot ideas so let's get started, I need 2 players to complete a Squad of 4, as I will be along for your journey as a host player.
If interested, please fill in the character sheet below, if there is enough interest, I will randomly select 2 players with my eyes shut. They will be in the first game. Be prepared, if you die in the game, you can not be "respawned" until the initial game is finished and your teammates are also dead. Please fill in the character sheet below, bare in mind, realism is key here... Players who choose to be older in the game, will have more experience points to buy their initial load out with, but will be slower in game, and have less hit points. These attributes and load outs, however, will not be revealed till the start and you are in, please choose wisely.
Entrance Exam: (Required, the players will all meet at a local farm, please give an example of how you think your character has come to be at this farm and a bit of backstory on your character's life before the "event". Please give 2 paragraphs. Minimum of 4 sentences)
Name: Robert J. Munz
Occupation pre-apocolypse: Police officer
Body Type: Athletic (slim, muscular)
Eye Colour: Blue
Hair Colour/Style: Brown, medium length, messy
Skin Colour: Caucasian
Tall and athletic, when Robert isn't working he seems like the average guy and he considers himself as such. His proud and upright posture is a result of his role within his community and he has a strict fitness regime to keep him fighting fit for a shift at work.
It was broad daylight when Robert J. Munz saw the farm, he had been walking for days looking for someone. Anyone. He shifted the backpack that was hung over his shoulder as if struggling under the weight, even though there was nothing inside but the little food that he had managed to find since leaving home 4 weeks ago. Everyone that he knew was one of 'them' now, even his wife. They had been married for 2 years before he was forced to put a hollow-point between her eyes. That gun lasted all of ten minutes after he fled the house in disbelief, only to discover that his wife wasn't the only one lose her mind.
Rob shook his head and cleared his thoughts, "get to the farm", he said to himself as he shot a glance over his shoulder to see if he was alone. It had become almost habit now, he knew they were out there, he just had to make sure they didn't know that he was too. The farm gate was was fastened shut, which was a good sign, and after sliding the lock across and pushing the heavy wooden gate open he made his way to the front door. He knew better than to just assume that it was safe so on his way he stopped to pick up an axe that had been wedged into a tree stump just off the path. He was comforted by it's weight.

Quick input here, the starting map is this, yes it is a real place in the UK, and can be found by searching Google Maps and then you can plan your routes around the apocolypse-torn scenery!
This is a basic outline of how the stats system works... Lets say your character has these stats:
Carry Weight: 50lbs
So if you come up against a zombie or any other enemy.... The battle goes like this, you can choose to fight or run, if you choose to run, your speed stat simply needs to be higher than the enemies and you can escape. If it isn't you are auto-entered into a battle.
Once in the battle, basically it's your stats vs the enemies stats. Enemy Stats will be kept in the OOC and updated as they are encountered throughout the story. Let's say, an average zombie has these stats:
A dice is rolled, the result is then multiplied by your strength to give your break point, if this number is the same or higher than the enemies defence stat, then you land a hit... your strength stat is then deducted from their HP.
For example, you roll a 3 and your strength is 6... So your break point is 18 which is equal to the zombies defence stat... You land a hit. You deal 6 damage (your strength stat) and deduct it from their HP, which is 10... leaving them with 4.
The zombie now rolls a dice and the same process occurs against you. Lets say the zombie rolls a 6. That is multiplied by 5 which gives the zombie 30, which is well above your defence stat. It lands a hit. Deduct 5 from your HP, leaving you with 95.
It is now your turn again.
This continues until one of you dies... If you die, you leave the game... Permanently! If you win, you are offered the chance to loot the body, this works in the same way as described in the first post with caches. Remember, only certain low level items can be gained from enemy looting... and the only way to revitalize your lost HP, is to eat certain types of food and drink, or find medicine by looting buildings.
Name: Patrick Lee Garrison
Occupation pre-apocolypse: Army Surplus store owner (part time survivalist)
Body Type: Muscular, large build
Eye Colour: Green
Hair Colour/Style: Dark orange very rough and unkept, he has a decently large full beard
Skin Colour: Caucasian (Irish Pale)
Physical Description: A Large man while not as strong as he looks he can carry his own weight and more if needed while not very hygienic he considers cleanliness as a added and unneeded luxury in the apocalypse.
Entrance Exam: Patrick Had been walking for days on end when he hit the Farm it was just about sunrise and he was thirsty and hungry. "eating 7 year old MREs an't the most delectable thing to do but in this hell hole of a world it what we gotta do now." Patrick said to himself as he approached the farm house remembering what he had gone through and what he has seen in the past few weeks. At first it was just rumors about the attacks no one ever took it seriously well expect him and his people the ones who are always ready when society crumbles and the first to attempt to rebuild a world out of the ashes but no one could have prepared for this the biters came fast one day he just woke up to see a large line of people at his door men trying to purchase MRE survival equipment camping items and guns after he went out of stock people just camped outside hopping that Patrick would have more supplies but their hopes where false one night Patrick just up and left them as far as he knows they are all either still camping their or have been a meal for the biters. But that don't matter now what does matter is self preservation and keeping up the will to survive in this hell hole we call home.
You have been accepted Patrick Lee Garrison. Your opening stats are as follows:
Carry Weight: 70 lbs
If you could put them in your sig that would be awesome. Here is the link to the IC, we have already started so feel free to start playing.
Welcome to the roleplay Thorgili! looking forward to meeting your character!
Name: Jackson Muchamore
Occupation pre-apocolypse: Unemployed. Backpacked from place to place using 5 years worth of savings. He was pratically a Hobo (Note I said Hobo and not a Bum, two different entities)
Height: 5 foot 12 inches
Weight: 100 Kilograms, which roughly translates to 200-ish pounds
Body Type: Broad shouldered, Barrel chested, and very, very large. The guy was born inherently large, so it isn't something that comes from a bad diet.
Eye Colour: Grey
Hair Colour/Style: Dark Brown and very scruffy. His bangs hang over his eyes easily, and the thick sideburns link up to an even scruffier beard.
Skin Colour: Caucasian, with a light tan on his face and arms.
Physical Description: Like I Said, He's broad shouldered and Barrel Chested. His size to height ratio makes him look like a too tall dwarf, and his scruffy beard doesn't help to dispel this theory. If clothes fall into this category as well, Jack's outfit of choice is a heavy, dark brown overcoat with an equally dark grey zip up hoodie underneath. He wears a pair of extremely loose jeans, the bottoms of which are frayed to the point of being nothing more than stringy bits of fabric. As for shoes, Jack sports a pair of well used trainers, the grip of which is miraculously not worn to the sole.
Entrance Exam: It was getting late when Jackson spotted the farm house on the horizon. While his old instincts of leaving people be told him to keep walking, something nagged at him to approach the house. That something being a need for a meal. It'd been a few days since his last proper meal, and a diet of nothing but energy bars and jerky hadn't helped. So, the man prepared himself for what was in the farm. He'd seen the monsters that now roamed the world, and what they did to people, so Jackson was more than a little prepared. Removing the old piece of metal pipe he'd managed to pry from some old train depot from his belt, he started the steady walk up the farms sloped driveway. It'd been a long time since he'd walked towards a house, as opposed to from it. "Thinkin' 'bout those things ain't a good idea..." The grizzled man muttered to himself, pushing the memory from his head before it could form.
