Plot
It's been thousands of years since the Dragons fought the Azreli. And as time went on, the war became more of a story. A story people would tell to their children, or tell to their friends in a dark winter night around a campfire. The Dragons beat the Azreli, but at a cost. They were crippled. It's said that there are only around two or three left. The Azreli, what was left of them, were banished to the Black Realm and the gate destroyed. In Avalon, thousands of years later, the Black Gates start to appear. There weren't many at first. One or two. The Azreli that appeared from these gates were killed off by kingdom guards yet they refused to believe that they were Azreli. Now, the Gates are appearing more often, releasing the whole Azreli army upon Avalon. A small group, you, plot to stop it. Why you? The kingdom's armies tend to use force and try to take on a whole army of the Azreli. You and your group are stealthy, at times, and know what they're doing. You are the only hope left for Avalon and it's people.
Travel across the whole of Avalon as you take on the Azreli, have a bit of fun and get pissed in the local bars.
You start off in Caerwin

Preservation - The god of, well, preservation. He is what keeps things alive. He preserves the good things and lets the bad things rot. Without him, there would be no life. Preservation is who keeps the crops growing (when Tascael isn't interested in them) and is what keeps humans growing. Preservation is what keeps the forests growing and the animals breathing.
Without preservation, life would not be possilbe. People believe Preservation to take the form of a ghostly human. A mistly spirit. Only a certain few have encountered Nozdormu and stayed sane to tell the story.
BAD:
Syrabane - The god of destruction and master of the realm of the The Abyss. Syrabane can cause many natural disasters like earthquakes and floods. Many people believe the tales of Syrabane and follow under his rules. These people are called the Mystic Syrians Many believe Syrabane was created to serve under a higher power but rose up against his master and took over the realm of The Abyss. There is believed to be an ancient area in the world containing an important artifact of Syrabane but many believe this is just a tale. No one has ever actually seen Syrabane. It is believed he takes the form of a giant red Satyr with fathomless black eyes.
Mystic Syrians - A cult devoted to syrabane who travel to the statues of syrabane all around the land of Avalon in hope of summoning the dark lord back to Avalon to kill and take over as their leader and produce misery for everyone else, It is said to join you must crack the ancient code hidden in the portraits of Syrabane they had painted. The cult is said to be hiding somewhere in the of Karwan where some people even believe the whole village to be the Mystic Syrans. After all there have been rumours of the village holding a dark secret.
The Abyss - The root of all evil, this is where syrabane defeated his master (Malacath) and became the high king. Malacaths minions all fell under Syrabanes rule after Syrabane touched the Blade of Anarchy casting a spell over the minion warriors. Syrabane has tried to invade the kingdoms of Avalon many times but has failed. He believes his minions are too weak and he now searches for a stronger power.
Canaan (Pronounced Cay-nan) - The place where the humans believe to go when they die. Canaan is a place where the souls go after death. There are two seperate parts of Canaan; Arcadia and Archon. Arcadia being the home of the good souls, Archon being the home of the bad. It is said that souls who go to Archon are put through eternal torment. Those souls are known as the Stranded.
The Madlands - Home of Nozdormu. This world is completly random and filled with odd creatures, odd people and filled with evil and good. The world is filled with the colour and madness of Nozdormu and the people live under his rule. The only way to enter the madlands is through a strange portal which randomley appears throughout the land of Avalon. but it has been showing up in Caerwin a lot recently almost as if waiting for someone to enter.
The Black Realm - Home of the most evil ever known. The portal to the black realm is lost to everyone. No one knows how to find it. And the ones who have, have always been killed off by the darkness that resides in it. Most people don't believe in it. They believe that The Black Realm was just a place in stories they'd use to scare the naughty children. But there are a few who believe. A few who search for the portal - known as the Black Portal - into the realm. Why they search? No one knows. Most people would believe them mad! Descendants of Nozdormu! But they believe. They believe they can find it, and they wont stop until they do.
It is said that the Black Realm is a dark place. The land is black, the skies red and the water? There is no water.
The Nexus - The nexus. Said to be a place of power. There is no gates to this realm like the other ones. The Nexus is only accessable through the mind. Minds of the High Wizards. It is said that the Nexus is the place where the High Wizards can meet and is where they can recharge their staffs. The only way to gain access into the Nexus if you're not a High Wizard is if a High Wizard pulls you in themself.
The Void - A place where high wizards caught practicing banned magic or worshipping Syrabane and performing necromany are sent to have their power stripped. Only one wizard has left the void with their powers intact but no one has been able to explain how they have kept them and he refuses to tell his secret. He's now in hiding and no one has been able to find him. People believe he is hiding at the top of the high mountain of Rag'nos. But no one has been able to reach it as it's protected by a power. People believe it to be Allomantic power.
Caerwin - Caerwin is the one of the human kingdoms. It's in the middle of Avalon, which is a disadvantage as attacking forces can come from all sides. Aerwik Castle is located in the middle of Caerwin and surrounding it is many villages. Caerwin is the main kingdom of Avalon where King Dahere, ruler of Caerwin and Avalon resides.
Castle - Aerwik Castle. Located in the middle of Caerwin. On each corner are four turrets (towers). Inside the Castle is the gate to The Void which is guarded 24/7. Aerwik houses some of Caerwin's richest.
King - King Dahere rules over Caerwin. He isn't a good ruler. But he isn't a tryant either. Although he cares for his people and feeds them he thinks too much of himself to bother with anything else to do with them. He lives at the very top of Aerwik, in a room he calls his Safe Haven. It is the most heavily guarded place in the castle. Dahere has short brown hair and brown eyes. He is quite a tall figure. He wears bright clothes with a red cloak. His crown is gold and has jewels going around it with one big jewel at the front. He is a nice person if you get to know him but if you annoy him, he can get pretty mean. However, if you are found out to be a user of Allomancy it is immediate execution. Dehere's family have ruled over Caerwin for centuries. King Dahere is protected by four High Wizards. Unlike any other kingdom who has five High Wizards, Caerwin only has four. It did have a fith until he was caught practicing Allomancy and was sent into the Void.
III) Caerwin - Villages
Burlema - The count of Burlema is known as Count Mallona Hassildor . Burlema is known to be one of the worst villages in Caerwin to live because of the corrupt count Hassildor who demands high taxes and consorts with some of the largest criminal groups in Caerwin not caring if people in his village are affected. The people who live in Burlema only put up with him because they couldnt find anywhere else to live as all other villages are full.
Sonea - The slum of Caerwin. Where the poor reside. Sonea is home to the most filth ever seen in Caerwin. Dahere doesn't even bother trying to clean up Sonea or do anything about it. The people who live there are usually refered to as "Scum" or "Vermin". People say you can smell the filth of Sonea from Burlema, which is on the other side of Caerwin. This, is not true. Sonea's houses are usually shabby huts that don't even keep the rain out most of the time. The lucky ones actually get brick houses. Not even them, are as good as normal houses though. Soneo doesn't have any sort of ruler or guards. No one really cares what happens to the people in Sonea. The people of Sonea are usually seen walking around in rags. They don't get much food. The children of Sonea are lucky they passed the age of one.
Glaswyne - The home of the rich. The village is located to the north high in the mountains of Caerwin next to the border of Sotherys. The count of Glaswyne is one of the nicest in Caerwin who is happy to listen to the townspeoples problems and change anything they may find wrong. But many people take advantage of him. The town is filled with large houses and elegant people who have too much money for their own good. One of the big problems in Glaswyne is robbery though as many theives can make good coin from looting the possesions of the rich.
Pinefort - Pinefort is unlike most other villages. Pinefort is also the location of the Caerwin parliament where the people go to vote if they want a new law or something. Pinefort is more of a market district than a village. It has around ten to fifteen houses with a huge variaty of market stalls. These stalls sell goods such as bread, wine, small weapons and other things.
Cherdayonil - Located in the south eastern corner of Caerwin it is the biggest market town in the whole kingdom where the whole town is basically a market. The only real people who live in cherdayonil are vendors who work in the market for a living every day. This is the ideal place to get your armour , weapons and any other survival equipment. The town is al well known for being filled with beggars who will try and get money from busking and will steal food from some of the stalls.
Nozagt - While not exactly a kingdom, it is an underground lair. It is one of the many homes of the Thieves Guild. Nozagt translates to steal in Latvian. Nozagt is run by Damion, one of the many Thieves Guild leaders. It's entrance is only known to the members of the Thieves Guild.
Redlyn - Redlyn, a normal village like others. Redlyn is home to the average people of Caerwin. They're not rich, but they're not poor. Most people live in Redlyn. There's not really much to say about it.
The Laws and Punishment throughout Avalon are severe.
The things that were illegal in Avalon were:
Innocent Murder - Punish
Paedophilia - Torture then punish
Child Murder - Torture then punish
Stealing - Punsih (Most likely whipping)
Breaking and entering - Punsih (Most likely whipping)
Robbery - Punsih (Most likely whipping)
To test if a person was guilty in Avalon, the accused would go through one of these ordeals. These were:
Ordeal by Fire: Ordeal of fire typically required that the accused walk a certain distance, usually nine feet, over red-hot rocks or holding a red-hot iron. Innocence was sometimes established by a complete lack of injury, but it was more common for the wound to be bandaged and re-examined three days later by a priest, who would pronounce that Preservation had intervened to heal it, or that it was merely festering—in which case the suspect would be exiled or executed.
Another form of the ordeal required that an accused remove a stone from a pot of boiling water, oil, or lead. The assessment of the injury and the consequences of a miracle or lack of one, followed a similar procedure to that described above.
Ordeal by Boiling Water: This ordeal of hot water requires the accused to dip his or her hand in a kettle of boiling water and retrieve a stone. Afterwards, the hand was bound and examined after three days to see whether it was healing or festering
Ordeal by Cold Water: The ordeal of cold water was when the accused was to be submerged in a stream and acquitted if he survived.
Ordeal by Combat: The accused and the accuser would fight in an arena to the death. The winner would be proven innocent and the loser, well, dead.
Ordeal by The Cross: The accuser had to undergo the ordeal together with the accused. They stood on either side of a cross and stretched out their hands horizontally. The one to first lower his arms lost.
Ordeal by Ingestion: The accused was to be given dry bread and cheese blessed by a priest. If he choked on the food, he was considered guilty.
Ordeal by Posion: The accused would swallow the poisonous calabar bean in an attempt to detect guilt. A defendant who vomits up the bean is innocent. A defendant who becomes ill or dies is considered guilty
Ordeal by Boiling Oil: There are two main alternatives of this trial. In one version, the accused is ordered to retrieve an item from a container of boiling oil, with those who refuse the task being found guilty. In the other version of the trial, both the accused and the accuser have to retrieve an item from boiling oil, with the person or persons whose hand remains unscathed being declared innocent.
Punishments - Punishments were severe in Avalon. Such punishments were
Hanging - The guilty would have a noose tied around his or her neck and dropped off a platform.
Beheading - The guilty would sit their head against a hard object and an executioner would drive an axe into their neck, cutting off the guilty persons head.
Whipping (Flagellation) - Whipping was a common practice in Medieval times. It was also the fastest way of administering justice to criminals. The type of whip would depend on the type of crime or misdemeanor committed. While most whips were made up of a single strand of leather attached to a handle, there have been records of three tail whips, or chain whips too.
Bastinado: Bastinado was the practice of hitting the soles of the feet with either a whip or a cane. Also, some victims were forced to walk with weights attached to their bodies, after the beating.
There are also other types of punishments which are self explanitory:
Blinding
Boiling
Starvation
Tongue removal
Drowning
Roasting
Choking
Finger(s) removal
Mutilation of the genitals
Quartering
The more severe punishments - torture - were kept for people such as mass murderers and paedophiles
.
These were:
The Rack - The Rack was a rectangular frame with rollers, either at only one end or both. The victim's hands and legs would be tied to the ends of the rack, with a handle being moved to gradually increase the pressure on the victim's body, thus excruciatingly dislocating the joints in the body
Manacles - Possibly the most basic of all torture devices, these were a set of handcuffs by which the victim would be hung for hours on end. Needless to say, this would put all the pressure on the wrists, thereby resulting in excruciating pain to the victim
The Iron Maiden - The Iron Maiden is a human-shaped box with sharp spikes inside. The victim would be placed in it and the spikes would slowly move towards the victim.
The Water Wheel - The Water Wheel was simply a big enough wheel set in a pool of water. The victim would be tied on the rim of the water wheel, and the wheel would be moved. This would force the victims to be dunked in water, as well as having their muscles and joints stretched. This caused heavy asphyxia and disjointed bones at irregular intervals by the spinning of the wheel. Other methods of water damage included tying a prisoner with ropes to a hard stone bed and pouring water through a funnel on his mouth which was covered with a thin sheet of cloth. The torturers would then proceed to make the prisoner swallow large amounts of water whilst consistently clubbing his bloated body with heavy blows.
The Street Sweepers Daughter - This was a circular metal contraption in which the victim was forced to kneel down with his chest touching his knees in a crouching position inside the machine, and the grip would be tightened by compressing the bones, causing a heavy flow of blood from the nose and ears. All this done in public view with spectators hurling stones at the victim, would eventually result in the victim suffering from paranoia and madness.
Flaying - One of the most brutal tortures used which many are against. It involves the prisoners skin being removed whilst he is still living.
Slow Slicing - This is where as the name suggests the prisoner is sliced very slowly. The idea of this punishment is to humiliate the prisoner in front of the whole village by slicing individual body parts off one by one including genitalia.
The Head Crusher - The Head Crusher. A horrific and largely feared device, the Head Crusher was a steel dome, sized enough to fit the human head, and was supported with two vertical steel bars on either sides, with a T-shaped screw bar at the top and another flat bar at the base. The prisoner's chin would be placed strategically on the lower base bar, and the dome would descend, wrapping itself firmly around the prisoner's head. The torturer would then start to turn the screw from the top which would compress the head, resulting firstly in smashing the jawbone whilst cracking the teeth out, and forcing the eye sockets out of place, accompanied eventually with parts of the brain squeezing out of the ears.
Sotherys - A kingdom north of Caerwin which is high in the mountains and is close to Glaswyne. This continent is home to the Dwarves of Avalon. The Dwarves love this kingdom because of the large amount of ale available. This kingdom is famous for making alocoholic drinks to supply to the rest of Avalon. The Dwarves live under the rule of Atticus Bransleworth.
The Elven Forest - Like the name says. It's a forest kingdom built by the elfs. It's not like any other kingdom with strong walls. This is a kingdom deep in Avalon's biggest forest; Arir.
Here, most of the elves in Avalon are located. Arir is also home of Tar'rik, High Elf.
Borelyn - The kingdom of Borelyn is located in the south west of Caerwin and remains largely unexplored due to the harsh conditions and hostile inhabitants. Only one man successfully explored Borelyn and came out alive. He is believed to be a high wizard so powerful he has survived the void. But no-one knows where he is now there are only tales of his location.
Austror - The smallest kingdom in Avalon and was originally part of Borelyn. This was made a kingdom after a brave group of warriers conquered an area of Boreyln. With no other kingdoms wanting the area to be made part of their continent all kingdoms deceided to make Austror its own continent and to make this into a large containment camp for some of the biggest scum in Avalon (Serial murderers and stuff) where they would be sent to die or spend the rest of their life. Austror is not ruled by anyone per say buy a warden for the camp is selected every four years. This warden is known as Tarig.
Turrian - Turrian is on the west edge of Avalon. It is home to the Orcs of Avalon. Orcs are very territorial creatures and will attack anyone who tries to enter Turrian without their permission. The Red Kingdom - The Red Kingdom is home to the Dragonlings. The Red Kingdom is on the north west corner of Avalon. Like Virenias, it's home to some of Avalon's biggest volcanoes and pits. The Dragonlings live under the rule of Aldrenthaax.
Eiessel-Lazur - Eissel-Lazur is the home of the Epharian. Not many people visit this place as they're scared of it's inhabitents. Not that they're hostile, just their weird formation. It's located at the south-east of Avalon. The Epharian live under the rule of Aleris.
Sky Temple - An odd place which no-one has entered apart from the void wizard. The sky temple is located at the far edge of Borelyn where people are too scared to enter. They could be dead or they could have found something so scary they don't want to leave Borelyn.

The Madlands Portal - A portal into the madlands of Nozdormu which seems to appear randomley throughout Avalon. People believe it's to summon a certain person. It's been appearing a lot at the bottom of Rag'nos so people think it's trying to get to the Void Wizard. But as it was said, it's only been at the bottom which must mean the wizards allomancy must be so strong that it even keeps out a god's portal.
The Dead Cave - Said to the cave where the Miris reside. It's said that anyone who enters dies and is converted into a Miris. The cave is said to be one of the biggest caves in Avalon. Inside the cave is around 500 stone beds each belonging to a Miris. No one has ever ventured in The Dead Cave and came out alive.

The Azreli. The most feared race ever known. These creatures take the form of many shapes. The Azreli once waged war on the Dragons of Avalon. The Azreli and the Dragons we're equal strength and had equal numbers. The Dragons beat the Azreli and trapped them in The Black Realm but at a great cost. The Dragons were badly injured and their numbers crippled. There are only around three or four left. The Azreli have been trapped in The Black Realm for centuries. Azreli Priest - The Azreli Priest are the equivilant to a human wizard. The Priest's are one of the few Azreli that wear clothes. They wear red robes with small bone fragments going around the belt. They carry a large bone staff that they use to conjour magic.
Pouncer - Pouncers are small creatures. Probably the same size as a one year old child. These things have small heads with very thin arms, legs and torso. Pouncers can jump great distance. They usually attack you by jumping all over the place to confuse you and then attack with their claws.
Daemaron - Daemaron, the leader of the Azreli. He is the most feared out of all the Azreli, known to have the strength of a brute, speed of a hound and the power of the Priest. He is not someone you want to mess with.

The Borelyn Bastards* - These guys became known as the Borelyn Bastards after people briefly saw the promethleyns roam around the outskirts of Borelyn. The Bastard part got added after they were seen savagley beating a man and ripping his heart out and some guy said "What a bastard, why would anyone do that?"

Staff based Magic - Magic is magic used by High Wizards through their staffs. This magic can only be used through their staffs. High Wizard magic consists of the usual stuff you would expect to come from a wizards staff. Flames, ice and such. Magic isn't only usuably by High Wizards. It's also usable by Mages if they have a staff.
Allomancy - Allomancy, the banned magic. This magic was once used a lot before staff based magic. Only the High Wizards know why it was banned. Allomancy is slightly more powerful than the High Wizards staff magic and a lot more powerful than normal Mage's staff magic. Allomancy does not require a staff. It can be conducted through the hands. Allomancy is extremely hard to learn and there are only a few books that teach it. Most of them locked up in Caerwin's vaults.
