They had a tendency of marrying their cousins to keep their blood pure and to retain the ability to speak Pareseltongue. The House of Gaunt was once a prominent, wealthy family in the wizarding world, and originated from many powerful magical witches and wizards. Up until the 20th century, every single member of the Gaunt family was pure-blood. Like other pure-blood families of their time, they were supreme advocates of blood purity and were often inbred in order to maintain said “purity”. However, by the twentieth century, mentally unstable members of the family had squandered the family's fortune and cost it much of its prestige among elite pure-blood circles. By the earliest of the twentieth century, the Gaunts had been reduced to poverty, possessing only a few old heirlooms and living in an old run-down shack. Generations of inbreeding had made them violent and unstable. The Gaunt Family is extinct on the male line but on extant on the female. The Gaunt line runs through Tom Marvolo Riddle's veins.

After a while the Avery family stopped inbreeding. They can only have at most two children for every married couple because their fertility decreased during their period of inbreeding. Purity Will Always Conquer
"It is often said of the Malfoy family that you will never find one at the scene of the crime, though their fingerprints might be all over the guilty wand. Independently wealthy, with no need to work for a living, they have generally preferred the role of power behind the throne, happy for others to do the donkey work and to take the responsibility for failure. They have helped finance many of their preferred candidates’ election campaigns, which have (it is alleged) included paying for dirty work such as hexing the opposition."
The Malfoy Family consists of an ancient line of pure-blooded wizards, most if not all of whom were sorted into Slytherin when they attended Hogwarts School Of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The Malfoy family arrived to Britain from France in the Norman invasion. The family mansion is built in Wiltshire on land given by William the Conqueror sometime after 1066. Soon after Armand Malfoy's generation, the Malfoy family gained the reputation of blood supremacists and courting riches and power from those around them. The Malfoys integrated themselves in high class Muggle society, expanded their already large estate with the lands of Muggle neighbors, and dabbled successfully into Muggle currency and assets, becoming the wealthiest families in Britain. They apposed the Statute of Secrecy at first in 1692, but soon embraced it and cut all ties with Muggle families, denying that they had ever fraternized with such people.
After the law was passed the Malfoys began to seek influence in the higher authorities of the newly formed British Ministry of Magic, using their considerable wealth and charisma to do so. No Malfoy ever aspired for the position of Minister of Magic.
Notable Figures in the Malfoy Pedigree
Armando Malfoy was a French Wizard who arrived in Great Britian with the Norman invasion. He presumably gained the friendship of William the Conqueror. Sometime after William I was made King of England in 1066, Armand provided various unknown services to the king. In exchange for said services, King William granted Armand a prime piece of land in Wiltshire, seizing the property from the former landholders. Armando was later married to Viviana Nott who bore three children.
Nicholas Malfoy is believed to have murdered several muggles under the guise of the Plague, but was never punished for it.

The Yaxley Family
The Yaxely Family originated in Slovenia, and moved to Scotland in the early 1200s. The Yaxley family believes in blood purity, but they do not shout out their beliefs on the streets. Most families believe that the Yaxely Family is merely neutral. The Fact that about eighty five percent of children from the Yaxely family are sorted into Hufflepuff probably helps keep this rumor circulated.
Notable Figures in the Yaxely Pedigree
Xavier Yaxley was the first Head Auror in Britain’s Ministry of Magic.
The Prewett Family
(The Prewetts have no Family Motto)
The Prewett Family would be likely labeled as “Blood traitors”, as they occasionally associate with Muggles and Muggle-borns, and do not believe in blood purity. It seems that it is considered by most blood purists as a neutral Family, but the Prewetts would sooner cut off their own tongues than join blood elitists.
Notable Figures in the Prewett Pedigree
Donald Prewett was a large contributor in the creation of the Misuse of Muggle Artefacts Office in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement at the Ministry of Magic.
The Parkinson Family
The Parkinson Family is a line of Pureblood supremacists. They have occasionally bred with half-bloods and a single “mudblood” in the early 1700s, but prefer to breed among purebloods. The Nott Family
Οι φορείς της ασθενούς ξεπερνάει την ισχυρή
The Bodies of the Weak Overcome the Strong
“The Nott family is known for their silver tongues and subtle brutality. Often considered as clever as even the Malfoy family, they have a high standing in most political factions. The Nott Family can be found (or not found) using subtle bribery and/or threats to get what they want in society."
The Nott Family has an extensive pedigree of pure-blooded witches and wizards. Most of their line were educated at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and few were not sorted into Slytherin. The Nott family moved to Britain from Greece sometime between 1059 and 1064 for reasons unknown. The Nott family were often prosecuted by Muggles because they practiced “Black Magic”. The Nott family therefore heavily supported the Statute of Secrecy in 1692. Quite like the Malfoy family, the Notts often fed off the power and wealth of others, influencing the newly formed British Ministry of Magic and therefore influencing the public by default.
Notable Figures in the Nott Pedigree
Ambrose Nott suggested the Statute of Secrecy in 1686. He along with several others of the newly formed Wizengamot signed the Statute in 1692. Ambrose married Clarisse Black who bore several children.
Cantankerus Nott was a wizard and a member of the Wizengamot who is widely believed to have been the one who penned the book that listed the “twenty-eight truly pure-blooded families” called Pure-Blood Directory that was published anonymously in Britian in the early 1930s. He married Delilah Prewett who birthed their only son, Jasper Nott.
Jasper Nott was one of the Earliest Death eaters, and was friends with Tom Marvolo Riddle in School.
