Primrose Sinclair (Rose)
Rose has an unquenchable curiosity about the world she knew only from books. She wants to experience everything she couldn't before, although she is in no hurry to do so. Despite her unusual upbringing, she is surprisingly pragmatic. She has no deluded notions about what she is capable of and knows when she is in need of help. It might take her a while to actually ask for help though—she's self-aware, but she is also stubborn.
Observant and clever, she's the type to calmly but swiftly assess a situation before taking action. She has no prior experience in most things, so she relies on wits and perceptiveness to achieve most of her goals. That being said, neither her cleverness nor pragmatism can hide the certain naiveté she possesses about the world. Her point of reference has always been books and distant observations. She knows very little about what is or is not socially acceptable—for one thing, she is overly blunt and she doesn't know how to properly respond to certain situations—and has no idea how the world really works.
Rose is what you'd call an heiress. Her grandfather is the founder of the thriving Pokétch Company—Pokemon Watches for the World!
—who had just recently relinquished his role as president to his eldest son, which is her father. As the only daughter and
granddaughter in the family, she had been coddled and doted on all her life. She was showered with gifts and had everything done for her. And as if that wasn't enough attention for one person, she was also born with a frail body. She was under surveillance at all times and was forbidden from straying too far from their premises. It would be an outright lie to say she suffered when she lived in such luxury, but it was incredibly lonely and suffocating. Instead of traveling and going on adventures with her Pokemon, she was allowed only read about them on her books. Instead of making new friends and playing with them, she was allowed only to observe and pretend. Rose just wanted to experience life, to actually live
, so she resorted to the only possible option: she ran away.
Just days after she turned fifteen, Rose and her Piplup fled from her home in Jubilife City, leaving only a note behind. She brought with her a bagful of her expensive trinkets, which she proceeded to sell at the local Poke Mart. Then she went to the salon, where she traded in her telltale blonde locks for brown ones. Despite her assurance in the letter, she knew her family would send people to find her and take her back home. With more than enough money to last her years and a new unrecognizable appearance, Rose and Drizzle set off to start their long overdue journey.
