A Charmed Life
Remembering a time when the world wasn't screwed up was extremely difficult to remember. Hannah could barely remember a time when she wasn't living in the underworld. A place that used to be where demons had inhabited. Now it was witches who hid there. Had she been by herself, like others probably were, it likely would have driven her crazy. Isolation and being on her own wasn't much of something she ever cared for. How long she'd have to stay down there was hard to stay. Being up on earth wasn't safe though because of the massive number of demons up there. How or when things would change, she wasn't entirely sure. She'd like to hope soon but also did not want to hold her breath on that.
Chris thought going back to the past would help. Hannah wasn't sure how bringing only one of his aunts here would help, but he was the one part whitelighter and you might as well try every option, right? But then actually being there changed her mind. Getting to see the sun again and breath real fresh air, it was an amazing feeling that one could easily take for granted. Having to go back to the future was a thought she didn't even want to think about at the moment because of it.
They had to get Phoebe though, which was why there were currently outside the place he said was her house. Hannah felt a little awkward. Seeing as she never had to try and tell someone she was from a different time before, it wasn't exactly something she would look forward to if she did have to. At least the woman was another witch so it was a lot more believable and not dealing with someone that would want to put you in a mental institute or something like that.
The thought had always been the same. Phoebe and him would be together and happy and somehow he would still be able to be his half demon self while she would be okay with that. At one point they had that. He was the source with her as his wife and even embracing the dark side. Her sisters had been a big reason why it hadn't worked, of course. Him expecting her to basically stay away from them had been rather unrealistic, he knew. None of that really mattered now though. All three of them were dead. He hadn't actually been vanquished and in taking back the position of source, the old one had killed all three of them. Cole was definitely not happy about this as he had wanted to try and win Phoebe back. Now all he could do was find the demon and give him a slow and painful death.
Currently he had a demon that supposedly knew where his target was. They didn't want to talk, of course, and so he got to enjoy torturing them. He wanted to find that demon and kill him in what used to be the Halliwell house.with them dead he took it over since it was one of the few places he still had memories of Phoebe from. And he enjoyed torturing demons here. With hell basically being on earth there was much more bad things going on. Death, disease, and anything else one could think of. He might have enjoyed it had he not been half human and that half knew she wouldn't have liked seeing this earth if she had still been alive. It made him kind of miss the days of playing a double life where he'd help the sisters as well as do some evil on the side. Those days were long since gone now, and he couldn't do a lot of stuff that would show weakness.
"Tell me where he is!" He demanded with some annoyed anger.
Chris sighed once again, knowing that he had missed the past more then anything, especially his mother and father. But this time he couldn't let them find out that the future was even worse when they left it. Wyatt wasn't good, he had been the one to actually kill his family and right when he had tried to kill Chris himself. Paige had made him orb to the underworld, he had been the same age now as he had been as he was before, and now he was back in the past with his newest charge. Hannah was the one he had been with for a long time as he looked at her "If my plan works, this will be our future Hannah, and I'm sure Phoebe will need some herbs and all that. We can enjoy this for as long as it lasts." he said before he knocked on the door of the small home that Phoebe had bought, instead of a columnist she was now a real writer.
He just knew he needed to wait as he watched as the door slowly opened, Phoebe looked worse then ever. Bags under her eyes and her hair was tied in a messy bun, it seemed that she had told him the truth when she had been still alive. Coop had left her, the only guy she had began to love again, yet another forbidden one, and he had decided that being a cupid was more important then her and once again she had given up her hope on love and the fact that she would finally have a daughter. That was all that he knew as he took a deep breath. "Hey aunt phoebe, I wish I could tell you good things but sadly that isn't true. I need only your help, your sisters would only make it too obvious and the future is worse. Wyatt is bad, but that isn't the worst thing." he said as he had no idea on how to mention Cole.
"Hannah, maybe you can explain it?" he asked as he didn't have the guts to tell her, he loved his aunt too much and he had only been dumped in that universe after coming back. Little did he know that it was worse then before, demons had taken over the world as he first moved to hug his aunt, he had truly missed her. He just wanted to make things better and he knew she would help him. She always had been his favorite aunt.
Her mind was always on Cole after Coop had left, slipping back in that same depression that she had been in when she had to vanquish Cole, she had been under severe pressure and she always had regretted choosing her sister. That might have sounded cold hearted, but she felt that way. At least the world hadn't been as bad when Cole had been the source, he knew what she wanted and her life with him down there had his advantages too. She had been so happy back then, giving in to her evil side a bit and all that. He was also the reason that she had started writing a book about the both of them, but he was a vampire and she was a werewolf in that story. Somehow it became famous, and she knew people would hate the end.
Though when she head the knocking on her door she was confused, no one had said they were coming over and Paige and Piper would just orb into the house, but lately they even left her alone. They knew she needed to do this on her own, sighing as she moved to the door and slowly opened it. Frowning when Chris stood there with a blonde girl, she was a beauty. Wondering what was going on as she didn't even register everything he was saying until she felt the hug around her body. It took her everything not to cry as she pulled back. "Hannah, Chris, just come in. Want something to drink? I have soda, lemonade, tea, coffee." she said as she then let them in.
Moving to get them their drinks as she gave them a weak smile "So why do you only need me and what is going on?" she asked as she wondered if the girl was his girlfriend, they looked like a great couple and they would be allowed to be together. It would only make sense for them to be thereto, but she knew Chris his face, there was something huge going on and he didn't want to tell her something because it would break her heart.
Hannah hoped he was right and this really could be the future. Getting to that point where it was like this again would probably be long, hard, and difficult but it could be worth it. Things could be normal again and demons would be the ones cowering in the underworld rather than the good guys. Still she wasn't looking forward to having to go back though and would really miss being up in the fresh air and the bright sun. She just needed to enjoy it now while able, she kept telling herself. Even if part of the reason for being her was business and this was not a time for fun or anything like that. "I hope so," she said in a low voice right before the door opened.
Giving a light smile as his aunt opened the door it felt so odd. Here she was standing in front of one of the charmed ones. That was not something she had ever expected to happen. Nodding she wasn't really sure how to say how the future was, or mention that there were rumors Balthazar was alive and possible now source. Walking in after Chris she followed them into the living room. "Sure. Just a lemonade for me, thank you," she said feeling maybe a little shy. It would be nice to drink something more than water though, that was for sure.
Shifting her feet she wasn't sure how exactly to explain this. How did one tell someone the future was basically hell on earth? "The future isn't good.." she began. "Demons are roaming the world. More than the usual.. Good has to hide. A lot of them is in the underworld, I think. And there's been rumors that.. uh.." Anyone who knew the Charmed One's history knew of the whole Cole and Phoebe romance. So telling this was kind of awkward. "Balthazar is alive and he didn't actually get vanquished."
The demon didn't seem keen on talking much to Cole's annoyance. It took maybe another twenty minutes of torture before he finally got any information. Something about time travel. Perhaps they were just going back to warn the sisters so maybe the future might get better. While he might not have been keen on everything changing, he would rather Phoebe be alive since there was no point in him being all powerful if he didn't have her by his side.
After he got all the information he could, he just put the other demon out of his misery. Afterwards he had someone to get rid of the body.
Phoebe was more then surprised to hear that the future wasn't good, but then again, Chris didn't just come over for a visit. She knew it was something huge and she actually felt sad that they lived in a world where evil ruled. She knew it couldn't be pretty at all and she also knew that there had to be a reason when they picked her. It was then that she said Cole his name, instantly she seemed to flinch at the pain, her heart hurting more then ever when they said his name as she looked up. "Cole?" she asked as she heard he was alive. Then why didn't he visit her now, now that he needed her the most? "What do you mean he didn't gt vanquished, I did it myself." she whispered as she still regretted that moment in life. Trying her hardest to hold back the tears as Chris spoke.
"He was in some kind of sleep apparently, he then woke up to look for you. Like he always did but..." he said as Phoebe looked at him "I'm dead in that future?" she asked as chris nodded. "I guess I could have guessed that, if it weren't for us, then evil would take over. And after magic school would close. And since you think Cole is the source, you hope I can help?" she asked as she looked at him and swallowed. "I'll have to make it seem like I died... I know I don't want to come back once I have Cole." she whispered as she looked up at Chris and swallowed. "I can't pick my sisters above him again, he.. he is Cole." she said as she then looked at her. "And Balthazar only comes out when he's angered. He has him under control" she said as she then looked at the girl.
"Listen, if we go there. Then we need a lot of herbs and potions. And you are going to help me. Chris, you're getting everything I need and then we start the spell to get back to the future, this time it will be out power instead of that of my sisters. Maybe vanishing is indeed the best. It will hurt my sisters but in time they might understand. That way I can choose them both." she whispered. "I can't go back here without him."
Chris looked at his aunt and after all those years he could see a glimmer of hope in her eyes, he knew that glimmer wasn't as powerful as she was with Coop. Her heart belonged to Cole and Coop probably knew about this. He had to break her heart in order to have her be happy. He knew she was going to have to go back eventually but he wasn't going to tell her that. She needed to make Cole believe that she was there for him, that she chose him above her sisters and that she would be with him forever. He just swallowed and looked at her "That potion Phoebe, it wasn't strong enough, it only wounded him badly enough, so he went to the underworld. At least that are the rumors." he said as he then looked at Hannah.
"Do you think you can do that so soon? Or want to have one day of no duties?" he asked as he then saw that Phoebe seemed to understand. "Once I get to Cole.. Maybe demons and witches can live next to each other. I did the impossible already, didn't I? I loved the source and still do." she said as Chris shook his head. "Yeah maybe, mom did the same you know. Back then white lighters and witches couldn't even be together." he said with a smile as Phoebe got up and then started to write down what he would need.
Hannah could see Phoebe looked pained at the mention of her old lover. That was the reason she used the name Balthazar instead. Because she thought it would hurt more if she had said Cole. It hadn't been meant in a bad way or something like that. While she wasn't sure that it was a good idea for Phoebe to stay in the future, because then the past would be changed without her being there when she should, the girl decided not to say anything. Now wasn't really the time to. Plus his aunt seemed to be hurting because of how she missed Cole, and probably part of it was because she was alone after Coop had left.
"Yeah. It's hard to say for certain. There's so many rumors." Then mention of potions perked her up. It had been awhile since she really got to do anything like that. Having herbs down in the underworld wasn't a very easy task to accomplish. She felt a bit rusty because of that and hoped it was like riding a bike and that she hadn't forgotten something really important when it came to making them. Nodding, a day off and sounded great. Just getting to be up away from the underworld felt great.
She had a hard time imagining witches and demons actually living alongside each other. Maybe it was possible though. "Then we wouldn't have to stay in the underworld anymore." That was definitely a nice thought.
Phoebe watched as Chris nodded and then orbed out of the room to get everything they would need as Phoebe smiled and told Hannah to follow her to the room where she had the book of shadows. She never had parted with it, not even when her sisters believed that evil had gone down. She never believed that evil would be gone, she knew that from the time she and Cole had ruled the underworld. "Demons aren't too bad, at least not when you are the girl of the source. And is it bad that I hope the rumors are true Hannah? I would die to see him one last time." she said as she looked at her and then went to the attic. Pulling out all the herbs and the things she would need as she started on the vanquishing potions as she looked up at the young girl. "So how does the world loo like down there? How do you know Chris?" she asked as she asked her to help her out.
Just naming herbs that she would need as the book of shadows was actually opened as she moved to the picture of Balthazar. "Have you seen him?" she asked as she wanted nothing more then to find out he was really there. "And what do the rumors say? I want to know as much I can without me changing the future in a bad way." she said as she looked at him and then took a deep breath and sighed. She wanted to see his face again and she did wonder why he wasn't there in the moment, why Cole never had looked for her. "I mean if he is alive, then why didn't he come to me? I know he loves me, he didn't even fight back when I threw that potion." she said as she had made them more powerful then ever before.
"And how many potions do you think we need? This is about 50 vails." she said as she looked at her and took a deep breath "Do you think we need more? Because we could actually fill a few backpacks, but then we need more. I'll also take the pendulum to look for witches and all that. What else do you think we could use?" she asked as she looked him over and took a deep breath again. "Please, tell me all you can tell me?"
Hannah watched him leave before heading upstairs to where she assumed they'd make potions and whatnot. Being back up on the surface and not in the underworld was a very surreal feeling. Almost an overwhelming feeling, she kind of thought. She wasn't sure what to say about the whole demons comment and didn't think they were any good. Obviously she wouldn't say that though since Phoebe loved Cole. "I guess not. I've never met any good ones personally, so I wouldn't know" she said carefully. "Not that good. Witches are afraid now that demons are overrunning the world. Most are hiding out down in the underworld, I think" she said. While there was a few she had kept in contact with, mostly she had tried to stay hidden and most of what she knew was what other people had told her. "He's my whitelighter," she said lightly and hoped it wouldn't be taken as something more. She had never really admitted any feelings before and now didn't seem like a good time considering everything that had to be dealt with.
Looking through the supplies she tried to pull out all the herbs that were being mentioned. "No, not personally," she shook her head and was glad to not have seen Cole. She had been worried about running into demons and them trying to kill her. "Well they say that he's the source again. Most demons are running around on earth and causing a lot of destruction from what I've heard. I guess they're causing more wars, making people angrier. That sort of thing." At least that was what she was assuming and hadn't stayed on earth long after things started getting really bad. "I don't know.." she said in a low voice. "I think he didn't wake up until after you and your sisters.." she trailed off and didn't want to finish that sentence.
"We might need a little more than that," she said while thinking. With just Phoebe they didn't have the Charmed Ones so they'd need extra stuff like potions. "That would be good. It'll probably be harder finding the ones in the underworld," she nodded. "Maybe take herbs we think we might need for spells or something?" She suggested and was trying to think of what else they could prepare for before heading back to the future. After pulling out some more of the herbs she debated speaking again. It felt silly to but she also knew Phoebe had used to do that advice column.
"So.. what made you realized you first loved Cole?" Probably a random question, she supposed but was curious.
Phoebe instantly could feel the tension and feelings that came from Hannah when she mentioned Chris, like she was afraid she would find about something. Phoebe could clearly feel the sadness when she said that, but she wasn't going to tell her anything about that just yet. She didn't know how the girl would take it and soon she was filling another backpack with all the herbs that were very hard to find even now. She just knew any herb was needed and she simply started to pack everything that she thought she could use. All apart from the book of shadows, she knew her sister would need it one day and she just put in a piece of paper that she would explain why she left later in time, that it was just very important that she had to leave for a while. She didn't say how long she would be gone, she just told them that she would be back for sure.
At least she hoped that was enough as she smiled when her new friend started to talk about her and Cole, a true smile forming on her lips. "It actually will sounds cheesy as ever. But I dropped my books and then some guy snuck up on me and my reflexes kicked in, quite literally. So I sort of tried to kick him in the face and then he grabbed my foot and we started talking. While he was holding my leg to be exact, and then we locked eyes and instantly I was attracted to him. You know, it was magical, and then he let go of my leg and we always found excuses to see each other again." she said with a smile as she looked at her. "Even when I knew he was a demon, I couldn't stay away from him, it was like I couldn't find enough excuses to be with him. Every single moment of the day I thought about him."
That was all she said before she smirked "So when did you find out that you were in love with Chris hmm?" she asked as she seemed to be more carefree now. Looking around as she knew he could enter any minute "And try to talk as if it's about something you read or something, he can be back any moment to get all the herbs." she said as she looked at her and tried to act like nothing had happened. "You forgot that I'm an empath Hannah. I can feel it,and if I know Chris well enough. Then he looks at you more then he ever looked at any other woman." She said with a smile as she hoped they could get to the future as soon as possible.
She then moved to the wall and started to draw the sign that she would need to get to the future, trying to think of a spell that would work between the three of them.
Hannah was kind of glad when Phoebe didn't ask more questions about Chris. That was kind of a relief. She didn't really want to talk more about him and didn't think there was anything to talk about. He was her whitelighter and that was it. Helping fill up the backpacks it would be interesting to see what potions they made. While she learned a lot from her mother, she was still young and could learn a lot more.
As she heard the story it did cause a bit of a smile. While she had claimed it was 'cheesy' it was kind of nice. Like something you might read in a romantic novel or on some film or television show. "That sounds nice," she said referring to the whole thinking about him everyday and still being in love even after finding out he had a more evil side to him. Quite literally. She couldn't quite say she had that, at least as far as loving someone that lived on a darker side.
Her eyes snapped up to Phoebe at the mention of Chris. It was kind of a shock and she hadn't thought about the whole empath thing. Had she then she might have tried to hide her feelings. But it was a little to late for that now. "You think so?" she asked and hadn't thought he really looked at her in that way. "It was kind of funny. When I first met him I was younger and had been annoyed by the fact of someone watching over me. Young and stupid, thought I could take anything on all by myself," she said and sometimes thought she was so naive. Still sometimes she did stupid things. Carefully she had said that while checking around in case he shimmered in. Walking over she watched her draw the symbol, time travel was something she'd always been curious about but had never done until now.
"Trust me, I know Chris and I know what you mean by thinking you can do anything. I had that for a while but it is quite quick that you learn that there are worse enemies out there and the white lighter is something very special to a witch. They protect us and all that, they are there for a reason." she said with a smile as she looked him over and took a deep breath and then looked her over. She was quite believing in white lighters thanks to Leo and she knew that they were the reason that she and her sisters had gotten as ar as they were now and even then she would end up dead by a demon.
It was then that Chris came back and so she knew she had to talk differently "So that is the story of me and Cole, vanquishing him is a thing I'll always regret, I love him forever and it will never change." she said as she then looked at Chris and smiled. "This is the drawing, is there anything else we might need Chris?" she asked as she then started to work to think about a spell that would help her to get to the future but is was hard for her to think of one.
On a piece of paper, Phoeb wrote the date and year on which she wanted to arrive in before she moved to both of them and swallowed "Okay, I changed the spell, I hope it will work because you can only go to the future once but it might work". she said before she smiled "Okay and here is the spell we all need to say, all at the same time, reapiting it as long as it takes to open the portal. 'Ignite as you recite.... Hear these words, hear the rhyme. We send to you this burning sign. Then our future selves we'll find,In another place and time. A time at war where demons dwell,Bring us there safe and well.' " she said as she frowned "But maybe we leave out the future self one for me."
Chris felt bad that Hannah hadn't been able to enjoy the whole past life, where she would be able to walk the surface as long as she wished and where she would just do as she liked. Chris just wanted to make her feel better and when he got back, he had filled his backpack with a lot of herbs that they could use. He knew Phoebe would be shocked at the whole demon thing, even when she had been around Demons when she had been with Cole. He just hoped she would be able to change everything and that Cole would soon notice that that world wasn't hat Phoebe wanted.
He orbed into the room and then looked at Hannah as he moved towards his aunt "It might work, or I can try to get us to the future, I'll be weak for a while but you two will be safe then. Thought that spell might be the best way." he said as he looked at her and took a deep breath. "Oh and I also got us some soda, we can't really drink that there and I know Hannah likes that, it's at least some confort we can have right?" he asked as he smiled when his aunt nodded. "And maybe the changing of the spell will work."
