Blood and Dust OOC
So I may or may not get shot for adding another vampire RP to this site. But it's all good. Here's the idea:
It's a western! Two brothers are well known vampire hunters. Their fiery passion for shooting blood suckers in the face with silver bullets stems from the loss of their parents. By vampires, of course. However, one day the two brothers are caught off guard, and younger is attacked and turned. He tries to convince his older brother that he can control himself, that he's still the same guy, but the older brother can't bare to see his little brother become a horrible, murderous monster. When the older brother resolves to kill his younger brother, the younger hauls ass out of there.
He eventually joins a group of nomads that consists of vampires and humans. The caravan somehow has put their differences aside to work together. The vampires use their superior strength and speed to protect the humans from vicious outlaws, and the humans provide them with blood in return. The former hunter falls into their numbers with the hope that the other, more experienced vampires can teach him to control his bloodlust.
Meanwhile, the older brother it still on his younger brother's trail. Over time, he gathers his own group of hunters.
I'm not sure where I'm going with it after that, but that's what you assholes are for. Anyone interested?
1: Don't be stupid
2: We're aiming for a more classic depiction of vampires here. They can only drink human blood, garlic, holy water, crosses, sunlight, ect, can all harm and/or kill them if used right. They sleep during the day. Yes, sleep. They're faster and stronger than humans, but for the sake of the RP, they can't shapeshift into bats or wolves. In order to become a vampire, you have to be sucked dry of blood by one. One bite won't do it.
Also, I'm tweaking the vampire rules to make silver a weakness as well.
Because it's easier to make silver bullets than garlic bullets.
Honestly, garlic bullets would suck.
3: No more female characters for god's sake!
Alignment: (Hunters, the caravan, all by your lonesome. Keep loners to a minimum.)
Name: Orren Carter
Alignment: Soon to be the caravan
Personality: The difference between him and his brother is like night and day. Orren has a short fuse, a foul mouth, and a snarky attitude. It's hard to say where he got it from. He's not quick to warm up to people, and certainly not quick to trust. But under all the gruff and gristle, there's a decent person. Orren is honest, loyal, and isn't afraid to fight for what he believes is right. The key word there is what he believes is right. He's nothing if not stubborn.
Other: He's currently bogged down with two guns; a rifle and a handgun, but was forced to abandon his silver ammo. He's only got a handful of regular bullets, all for the handgun, but he keeps both guns on him because he feel naked without them.
Appearance: Orren has been cursed with an eternal babyface. He's been working on his five o'clock shadow for a few weeks now. The fact that he only stands at 5'5" doesn't really help. He is, however, stronger than he looks. Orren's built up muscle from years of battling the undead, carrying heavy guns and ammo, and horseback riding. He has shoulder length brown hair. His skin has gotten paler since becoming a vampire, but still holds a tan from the sun. It'll fade over time.
History: The Carter brothers came from humble beginnings. Their father was a blacksmith, their mother a seamstress. They lived in a small, peaceful town where everyone knew one another. This all came to an end after a coven of vampires came through and killed most of the townspeople. Some were turned, but most were brutally murders. The brothers' parents were among the casualties.
The older brother, Roan was old enough at the time to remember the attack. For a while, he was terrified of vampires. But as he grew older, he learned to hate them instead. He decided to help take control of the ever increasing vampire population and become a hunter. However, he had to take care of Orren at the same time. Once Orren was old enough, Roan began teaching him to hunt as well.
The two brothers made their own name in the vampire hunting business. They made just enough money to live, and nothing more. They could have easily become rich off such a living, charging desperate towns and people outrageous prices to rid them of bloodsuckers. However, Roan was an honest and humble man. He never asked for a price, and only took what was offered as a reward. Sometimes that offer was food, money, or even a place to stay for the night. Sometimes they didn't get anything, but that was fine too.
The brothers were happy with their lifestyle. However, such a dangerous job comes with consequences. They were on their way to a new town after getting a letter about a vicious coven that had taken up residency there. It was a standard job: go in, wipe them out, let the townspeople have peace again. However, something went wrong. Somehow, the coven knew they were coming. The two were ambushed before they could reach the two. They were caught off guard and were separated. Roan managed to get away, but Orren was outnumbered.
Roan came to save his brother, only to find his limp body laying next to a dead horse. Roan was devastated. He was even more so when he discovered that Orren had been turned. Orren came to and found his brother standing over him with a gun aimed at him. He tried to reason with Roan, but couldn't get through to him. Orren was forced to subdue his brother and run.
Name: Roan Carter
Personality: Roan is the perfect western movie hero: He's compassionate, humble, honest, loyal, blah blah blah. However, he's only these things if he's interacting with another human. Vampires are another story. He sees them all as blood thirsty monsters, and nothing more. He doesn't see that humanity can remain in them after they change. He only sees the creatures that murdered his parents and now his little brother.
Other: He's a fairly religious man. He carries a Bible around in his saddlebag and whips it out when he needs to pass some time.
Appearance: Roan is a bit bigger than Orren, standing at 5'10", muscular, and well shaved. He has the same brown hair and brown eyes, tan skin, and medium length hair.
Take the cigarette away from him, he doesn't smoke. He's just trying to look tough.
Reserving outsider/loner vampire hunter! Also...silver was always considered a weakness for the unholy supernatural beings, vampires and werewolves have always been in this spectrum.
I was actually considering stealing an idea from Twilight.
WAIT DON'T SHOOT.
I like the idea of their eyes changing color according to whether they've fed recently or not. The brighter red they are, the more recently they've filled up on blood. The blacker they are, the hungrier.
What do you think? :3
Alright, I can deal with that. For now. Now, let me see about making a CS.
*Takes the shot anyways*

Personality: A mysterious fellow, or at least that's the image he's going for. Doesn't have a name beyond "Red Steel", and doesn't seem to talk much about himself beyond that. He's nice enough though, offering his assistance in matters that would require his gun or sword. He's rather modest about pay and sometimes doesn't even ask for it, he just looks around for vampires or bandits or what-have-you, deals with them in a way most efficiently, and goes on his way.
Other: Posses a weapon known as the Sora Katana. It's razor sharp edge never dulls nor rusts, but the sword itself cannot be removed from it's sheath unless it's with Red Steel's hand. His other weapon is an unnamed but still rather impressive .45-70 five round revolver, usually loaded with Silver bullets to deal with vampires. When he needs to reload, the entire chamber pops out, and he uses a moon clip to reload his bullets quickly.
History: Little is known of the one known as Red Steel. As a child, he was raised far away from these strange desert lands, in a place where grass grows and water flows. There he was taught the way of the sword, one of the many students doing so. But as he grew older, more of his fellow students left; the advent of the gun began to make many lose interest in the art of swordsmanship. Eventually his own master passed on, time taking him away, leaving the boy with no one but himself. But before his master died, he gave the boy something. As the last student to remain by his side, he would be allowed to keep the school's treasured object; the Sora Katana. It was a great honor and responsibility placed on his shoulders, especially one so young. But after his master died, the boy was to find a new lot in life. So he traveled west, towards the desert, were the sun fades over the horizon. Along the way he had a few adventures, one that even taught him to like the workings of a handgun. Afterwards he spent many years making one for himself, to use against his enemies when they were unworthy to taste the blade of the Sora Katana.
Years pasted, and the boy made a name for himself. "Red Steel", they called him. It was given to him because of how much blood would be on his sword after he was done killing anyone who opposed him. But Red Steel was no bandit or murderer; simply a wanderer, looking to keep his skills sharp. He would travel from town to town looking for trouble to fix, and sometimes he would be in the middle of no where, waiting for trouble to find him. A strange fellow, but ultimately, a noble one. He recently took up vampire hunting when he heard news of various vampire clans attacking human villages, and he took it upon himself to make sure the humans would live to see the next day, and for all vampires who would harm them to see their last night.
How does silver effect the vampires?
It burns them and turns the effected area all black and crispy.
Like over fried chicken.
