Welcome to a World of Magic!
Maisie had nearly killed her owl when it came and woke her up, a near half hour early. Bloody thing was defective for sure. Third time this week it had done that, and Maisie had only been at Hogwarts for a month. "Better not do that all year, you..." Maisie gritted her teeth, she was certainly not a pleasant riser. No one dare doubted that. It took every muscle and fiber in her body to roll out from under the covers. Laid out on the floor, Maisie propped her self up on her hands and crawled to the dresser. Gripping hard on the handles, she pulled herself up while simultaneously pulling the drawer open. It took her little more than a minute to pull her uniform on. Although when it got to her tie on the other hand, it took her nearly ten minutes before she finally gave up and tied it in a simply knot. Maisie shrugged and went to the common room, she'd get the hang of the blasted things sooner or later. She laid down in front of the fire place and finished off her last bit of parchment from the day before.
The day went by awfully quick for Maisie, one minute she was at the Great Hall having breakfast, next minute she was walking to her final class. Potions. Oh joy, how she loved potions. Almost as much as a cat loves water! She chatted with some of her friends as strutted down the corridor towards the dungeons. With many of her friends being in different houses, it wasn't long before the group branched off. Maisie took a deep breath before walking into the Potions class, smiling big at Prof. Dorkins. He was a good teacher, but oh Merlin was she terrible at potions. Taking a seat in with the other Gryffindors she took note for quite a few minutes. Occasionally throwing some nasty looks at the Slytherins, who shared the class with them, whenever she overheard them picking on someone. "What a bunch of bullies," She whispered to the girl next to her.
With about 30 minutes left in class, Prof. Dorkins turned around to address everyone. "Now, I'd like for the lot of you to get into partners and start working on a Cure Boils potion," He threw his hand up as many students immediately got up to work with friends, "Tut. Tut. Today I will be assigning everyone their partners-" A large groan went throughout the class "-No complaints." With the strictness in his voice, everyone immediately quieted. About five minutes later, everyone had moved next to their respective partners, many of them begrudgingly. "Now, whoever you're seated next to, will be your partner for the remainder of the year. Understood?" A collective, drone-like answer from the less than enthused children, "Yes, Sir,"
Maisie looked over at her partner, a Slytherin. Greaat, not. Being the better person, Maisie reached her hand out for him to shake, "My name's Maisie, Maisie Wilson." She put on the best "happy voice" she could muster.
