I have an idea, it's not very well developed or anything, but it's one I think has potential. I would like to do one that's not set on Pandora, but the Borderland universe. Maybe, it could involve the gun manufactures and the war between them? Perhaps each person could play a character that serves as a representative from each corporation.

On a side note, I do work part time, and go to school for the other part so I won't be on as much as I would like. That being said, I"m also not the most experience with leading a rp so I'll be looking for a Co-Gm or two to help me manage things, and figure out the story. So yeah.
I started a thread about this a while back, actually. If you like, I can bring all of my old ideas over here in one coherent form. You can pick through them and assemble them as you please.
Sure. I'm open to any and all help / suggestions :)
So you said that you wanted it to be on another world other than Pandora. Understandable, I think Pandora has been explored quite thoroughly, and as there are vaults on so many worlds we can pretty safely make one right the hell up.
I was thinking a more urban setting would be interesting, simply because it's barely touched on in the two games thus far. A planet that is largely controlled by the Dahl Corporation, perhaps. The law is rigid and strict, and it's pretty much a police state. It's not the same evil, sadistic state that Handsome Jack tried to set up, but it's much more pervasive because it's literally everywhere. You can't go two blocks in any given city without seeing a Dahl soldier/policeman.
So obviously this strict order doesn't work for everyone. The rebels are all quite attracted to some group that's gaining steam, funded and armed by Vladof. The RP could start just as this group(labeled terrorists at first) makes their first move.
I like the idea of pitting Vladof and Dahl against each other, because they are so very opposite. In their ideals, and even in the way their guns work.
By now the games have come up with six basic character archetypes, and I figured that's a decent number of characters for an RP(some disagree, and if you do, not a problem!). So we could have six characters, each a new class with a new ability/skill. There would be a soldier, a stealthy one, a siren, a berserker, a tech user and some kind of crazy dude.
We could be working for the revolution(obviously, I think). Or, especially if you like having more characters in your games, we could have two different sides, and each can have their own different takes on those archetypes. For instance, the Dahl side would have an Officer, a Sniper, a Demolitions expert, and perhaps a Close Quarters expert.
One thing that I will say is that we can't have a bunch of sirens running around. I think you should definitely limit that to one in the whole game. Considering there are only six in the whole universe. There's Maya Lilith and Angel(also maybe Steele from the first game?), so that leaves only two adult sirens left(though it is possible that when Steele and Angel died, it freed up more spaces for sirens to be born. This is tricky because, while it's stated explicitly that there can only be six, it's never explained why or how it works).
Now here's where I have questions:
Would we utilize a stat based weapon system(like in the game) and produce randomized loot drops(because who doesn't love that shit?)?
Are our characters going to go up in levels? Or perhaps they can just add onto their abilities as time goes on.
I could see this working, especially vladof being the one going up against dahl.

MMmmm. I'm all for finding loot in all sorts of places, but I'm not sure about using stats, because I think it would complicate things too much. Unless, there's a simplified stat system like a scale from 1-10, or something similar.
I prefer they gain skills as time went by.
Are we going to do it so each character has a special ability that requires a cool down like in the games?
As for the Dahl controlled planet, how would you feel that's it was a known vault for years, but Dahl has kept it hushed up, while they tried to get inside. Things were going good, except for their failure to get in, until the vaults were all opened up because of what happened on Pandora, and everyone found out where all the vaults had been hidden?
I don't think the vaults all opened, I think Lil and the gang just got a map. It's possible that they'll still need a key to get in. I like the idea that Dahl found it ages ago and told nobody, though.
Another idea from my previous thread that I forgot to mention was that the Vault has already been found, but the key is in three parts. Dahl has one, Vladof has the other, and the third is on one of the planet's small moons.
I figured we'd use actions skills like they have in the games. Probably not a direct "cool down," but more of something that limits it. Something more narrative based, you know?
As for guns: 1-10 is too simple, to be honest. Because you could have a sniper that's a five, and a shotgun that's a five. They have the same rating, but guess which one's more accurate. We should either do in depth stats(though you could get away with simplifying some. Probably just fire rate, bullet damage, mag size and accuracy. And then they'd have the weapon manufacturer too, which would give them a special ability), or none. The stats could read like this:
Rate of Fire: 7
Mag size: 28
If we do go with this, though, I think we should simplify by not having gun levels. Each stat(besides mag size, obviously) would have a max of ten.
Another idea that got thrown around, though, was weapon mods. They could exist to simply raise the stats of your gun. And there could be some that could even completely change the way it behaved.
The thing is, I know that the play style here is completely narrative based, but I have the worry that without the use of stats, differences between guns won't always be clear.
I didn't mean they were all opened. What I meant is that all the locations were revealed. Like all the vaults in the universe started glowing and giving out signals to their location when the gang saw the maps.
OH so then it'll be the objective of both teams to try to steel the part of the key from the other corporation? So the third key would be hidden in one of the small rooms? Maybe that could've been done by another group that's against the opening of the vault entirely? This group could serve as a powerful opposition to both parties.
I see that. The stronger the skill, the more of a limit it would need to have.
So the weapon mods would kind of act like the mods for a grenade?
Will there be legendary weapons?
I dunno, it's your deal dude.
The thing that worries me most about weapons is where they're going to come from. Like, who's going to make them all up, or decide the stats(if you go that road).
But these are all just cow's opinions if no one else joins.
*Busts in through window*
Booyah! Lemme' see what I'm dealing with here!
I personally think going into the stats would be fun, but giving the GM would probably be deciding what loot we find, he/she would need to create the weapons. So how simple or advanced it is will be on 'em. I don't think a 1-10 scale will cut it, we need to probably go higher- In fact, don't put a limit. A shotgun could have a really high power and low accuracy, and the sniper rifle would have high accuracy and (Depending on time obtained) decent damage compared to the shotgun.
Accuracy might be better if based on percentage, depending on how in-depth we are going. The shotgun would probably have around a 36% accuracy and the sniper rifle up around 80%, maybe less when zoomed out. While the power would be around 14x22 for the shotgun, and 155 for the sniper rifle. I think it becomes easier if we do what Borderlands does: We don't limit ourselves. The stats on the guns can go up to whatever we want, beginner guns can just be in the basic 5-50 range, but as we progress, it just gets big, powerful, and stupid! Just like it does in the games.
There is, of course, elemental effects and bonuses to take into effect, as well as stats added on by these Weapon Mods, if we actually use them. (Because I like my pistols to spit acid and my assault rifle to light people on fire. In the most stupid and brutal ways possible.)
As for Action Skill cooldown, I figure a little common sense to not abuse it will make it work out between us, yes? Although I never understood how Roland/Axton's turrets came back. Life's mysteries, huh? ._.
Well we could go for the open ended random weapons, but I think the only way to do that fairly would be with some kind of number generator.
So for elements do we just keep the ones in the game or do you guys want changed?
