Julia heard the beast before she saw it as she walked through the forest. She pulled her sword out of her sheath and stopped, waiting for the creature to come into sight. As she waited she heard it circling her. Her chest rose and fell quickly as she anticipated the creature that was coming after her. Then it sprang from the bushes tackling her. She yelped as she hit the ground. Rolling onto her back, she looked up to see a chimera above her. Her breath caught in her throat as she noticed she was trapped between its lion paws. She rose her sword and swung it as best she could at the creature's gut. It bleated at her and swatted her away, sending into a tree. She was slightly grateful for the blow, despite the pain from the impact, it allowed her to escape from close quarters with the chimera. She stood and felt as though her vision was slightly different from moments ago. She rose her hand to her face and felt her hair matted with blood over her right eye that had a large gash across it. She gasped, realizing she was no longer looking through the damaged eye.
As much as her father would hate it, she ran. Moving to dodge a tree, she ran straight into it. Groaning on the ground, she knew fighting was not plausible. She could practically feel the Chimera's breath on her and moments later it was. It treated her like a toy more than a meal. The snake bit her and the claws threw her about and she realized the creature was merely playing then it would kill and then it would eat her. She felt her body bleeding from the multiple cuts and bites the creature had gave her. It was over her again and she watched lift its paw and rake its claws across her forehead. She screamed from the pain.
Then she could no longer see. The creature had damaged her other eye and she knew she was blind. She waited for the final blow, her body tensing. However, moments later she was merely listening to the chimera running away. A quick death was not in her cards. Instead she would bleed out, blind, in the forest, slowly.
The monster ran away when fire spews down from the clouds above. A man maybe twenty came to her aid. The man looked at the girl "hold on young one" he said going over placing a firey hand on her wounds healing them while whistling. He slowly picked her up.
"Don't be afraid I am Apollo I am here to help" he said as he went to his chariot.
(Sorry on phone I make bigger posts usually)
Julia heard a voice and her interest instantly, who on earth could have scared away a chimera. She felt a warmth on her body and then her face, cauterizing her wounds it seemed. It hurt but she no longer felt herself bleeding. Her hand reached up and felt her eye lids that were sealed shut now to stop the bleeding. Arms snaked under her as she lay there and then she was lifted from the ground. It was strange not being able to see anything. She only saw darkness and emptiness and only one thought ran through her head, how on earth was she going to fight, do her father proud if she couldn't even see. She looked in the direction when the voice introduced himself. She squirmed slightly in his arms, "My father wouldn't be happy seeing me with you. He doesn't believe you to be very bright... Then again my father wouldn't be happy with a lot of things right now."
Ever so slowly her hands reached up and touched the face of the god. She felt his nose and lips, his eyelids and ears. It was extremely strange not to see what she was touching. Dropping her hands, she felt her own face, "Why.... Why did you save?"
"I'm the god of healing and sunlight and music I help anyone. I think Ares will stay away from you while your in my care" the god spoke warmly. The horses galloped to a large sunny palace. He gets off and took her inside "I'll get your eyesight back" promises slowly
Julia shook her head slowly, "Why would a god what to go out of their way so much for a mere mortal?"
She found his neck and wrapped her arms around it. Using it a leverage, she lifted her legs up and out of his arms. Dropping to the ground, she felt around for something. Finding a table, she grabbed hold of it and felt around it, "An even better question is why Apollo wanting to go out of his way for a mortal daughter of Ares. You two weren't in the best of books last time I heard."
She went quiet then and felt her sheath and felt the absence of her sword. She sighed and swallowed, "I do have one question.... Am... Am I scarred?"
Apollo looked at her "you have only a scar on your back" Apollo noted slowly "I help people"
Julia turned toward the voice and rose an eyebrow, "So much that you take them Mount Olympus? Or were you hoping that I would be to blind to notice that."
She walked toward where Apollo's voice was coming from, "Yes, you heal. Yes, you held. But how many have you brought to your special little palace? Were you hoping they'd be grateful and show you their thanks before you cast them back to the mortal world to bear your child?"
She shook her head, "I've seen the mothers and fathers of demi-gods. The only thing that brings them joy is the child they have. They are empty otherwise, I know this. So if that was all you were wanting, you might as well just take me back to the forest."
"I'm here because this is where my healing medicine is girl. I didn't make you cone here to bare me a child" he spat in disgust shaking his head "besides I don't want any more kids I had enough kids hating me so I don't want anymore. Like what is the point to have kids if they hate you" looks through his shelves for things to heal her eyes.
Julia took a few steps back and bumped into the table she had grounded herself on moments ago. She cursed as she heard something hit the ground and crashed. She lowered to her knees and spoke quietly as she attempted to find the pieces of glass, "... I have my father's quick temper... I'm sorry... Maybe your children wouldn't hate you if you saw them... Visited, acted like a real father. That's why I hate my father. Ow."
She winced as she nicked herself on a piece of glass. With her other hand she found it and picked up. She felt around for the table top and placed the shard on it. She sat back in defeat as she sucked on her finger, trying to stop the bleeding. She couldn't even pick up a mess without injuring herself, this was hopeless.
Apollo sighed "Zeus rule. Can't talk to our children very often. " sighed seeing her hurt herself "clumsy? " he chuckled walking over helping her back to the couch "now sit" he said
