"Genius" x "Slacker" (RedGuy x Eskimolander)
Benjamin Edwards loved learning, and this would be one of this biggest experiences yet: starting a job. His bowl-cut brown hair was neatly combed, his circular glasses were perfectly aligned, and he wore a purple, collared shirt tucked into a pair of khakis with a leather belt. Fashion and dressing up had never been his forte, but Ann - his caretaker - had helped him today.
"Kid, you know you'll just be sweeping up in the food courts, right?" Ben's new manager gave him a dry glare.
"Yes, but I was told it would leave a good impression to dress nicely on my first day of employment." Ben smiled back.
"Ah, whatever." The manager sighed and shrugged. He was an older man, but not too much older, maybe in his early thirties. He wore a red polo shirt, which did a remarkable job of preventing Benjamin from determining whether he was muscular or just fat. "Just take this cart and find your partner - she should already be down there."
"Roger!" Benjamin quickly grabbed the large, yellow custodian cart - fully-equipped with a broom, rags, and cleaning solutions - and started to wheel it out.
"Wait, take one of the big aprons." The manager stopped Benjamin before he could exit, massaging his forehead with one hand and pointing to a nearby rack with the other. "It'd be a damn waste for clothes that nice to get stained with people's trash."
"Ah, very well then, sir!" Benjamin beamed as he put on an old, green apron hanging on a nearby rack, covering the entirety of his arms and down to his knees. "If that's all you require of me, then I'll be getting to work!"
Benjamin grabbed the cart again, and proceeded out of the backroom.
Redsburg Funland wasn't Disneyland, but in the Midwestern United States there was nothing better. It had fiendishly-designed roller coasters, well-stocked arcades, and of course a small water park. There were department stores, and themed restaurants, and there were performances from time to time. The admission was cheap for students, and that made it the prime place for them to go hang out if they had nothing better to do. Between the students and the tourists, Redsburg Funland was pretty crowded from opening at 10 AM to closing at 8 PM. And during these busy hours, there was possibly no place in the park that needed attention more than the food courts.
After navigating through the sunny park pavement with his custodial cart, Benjamin finally made it to the expansive food courts. Though the restaurants were better in quality, the food courts were much cheaper, and this fact alone kept them crowded during all times of the day. Even with so many people sitting and moving around, it was easy to make out another custodial cart towards the center of the courts. After a few minutes of clumsily making his way through the tables with the cart, he pulled up next to his partner and gave her the best greeting he could muster.
"Greetings!" he said, making his tenor voice heard over the crowd. His glasses were much less aligned now, and sweat was dripping from his hair. Though the ninety-degree heat wasn't that bad for the ordinary park-goer, it was something like hell for the custodial crew, who had to drag their carts up and down hills in the beating sun.
"It seems that I am to be your partner in the sanitation and maintenance of these food courts." Neb explained with a smile. "As you are my senior, even though it be by a short amount of time, I will follow your commands as efficiently as possible!"
