Pokemon 1889: Tuscan Red & Prussian Blue
It is 1889, the Regions of Japan have now opened to foreigners and new inventions since 1868. The Emperor, under the advice of his advisors orders for foreign technologies to be implemented into their Japanese lifestyle to bring great change to his nation. His subjects travelled around the world and brought back inventions that are starting to be used. The change is bringing attention from the foreign lands.
This year, he announced the opening of the first Pokemon League in the Kanto Region. The league is open to everyone: rich or poor, native or foreign, male or female. He has appointed eight veteran Pokemon trainers to run Gyms to test trainers and give out badges, as a proof of their qualification. Trainers are required to collect all eight badges to participate in the Pokemon League. Thousands are participating to join the league
The league will have the trainers fighting against each other in a format of a tournament. The winner of the tournament will be crowned the champion of the region and will be given the right to challenge the Emperor himself.
There is opposition to the changes. Wanting to keep tradition, the mysterious Team Bushido declared war on Modernisation. They claim that their actions are to save the country from being absorbed by the Western world and they will be seen as heroes for their deeds. Their targets are anyone in favour of the modernisation such as intellectuals, inventors and foreigners. Stay vigilant.
Professor Oak, after returning from foreign lands was appointed the head scientist of Pokemon studies in the country. He is responsible for giving what is essential for all pokemon trainers: A trainerís card and a pokemon to help the trainers get a start. Under the approval of the Emperor, he encourages trainers to note down all pokemon they discover to aid his studies.
