Persona 4 RP Idea
Welcome! o: If you've clicked this I guess you're interested in a Persona 4 RP.
The date is 4/11.
You’ve heard about that curious rumor; what was it again?
Yes, you’ve heard the rumor about the Midnight Channel.”
A town turned to disarray after a murder, Inaba was once plain and peaceful, where people latched onto anything exciting they could find, before the police swarmed in search of a perpetrator. Inaba turned into a hustling place for all the wrong reasons. The first body found strung atop of a TV antenna, with no sign of any internal or external damage, the crime rings out an eerie message which nobody can quite decipher.
Welcome to Inaba.
Either as a lifelong resident, a transfer student, or somebody of a local caliber, you’re here now. With rumors of the mysterious Midnight Channel going around, alongside faint perhaps fictional tales about the murder, circulating around, Inaba has become a lively place. For once the center of attention in the region, it seems a crowd is finally being drawn. Especially since what was believed to have been a homicide turns a string of seemingly unrelated events comes together to form the murder mystery of a lifetime. The pieces are all there, yet nothing seems to fit together in any way possible, unless you included the fact of what not might be so realistic.
A group of seemingly average high schoolers, each with their own entrenched issues is suddenly dragged into another dimension through the TV to solve the mystery. Will you rally with them? Or stay out of the trouble?
Short summary, but this idea is only in progress right now. I certainly plan to add onto it later. I appreciate anybody who has come to check it out and I'm open to suggestions! I've seen a Persona 3 RP thread around, so maybe people are interested in the other installment as well.
I was figuring on allowing canon characters, except for maybe the protagonist, alongside OCs to balance everything out. Canons of course would have to have their original Arcana and Persona, while OCs could claim an Arcana and either make a fanmade Persona (required to be based off of a myth or legend), or maybe claim a regular Persona from the actual series/game. I'd prefer canons and OCs the most. I would also like to tweak the original game as well, but it would most likely start of similarly.
1. No godmodding, there are several types of it but the main two are never allowing an attack to land on your character, or you make somebody else's character preform an action. Don't do either, don't move another person's character without their permission. And, in addition, no metagaming(in which characters would know something that has not been revealed or certain yet, such as an OC immediately figuring out who the murderer is.).
2. Don't overpower your characters, every character and their Persona must have a reasonable weakness. And also, stay within the regulations and set moves of the Persona 4 universe. No original, non-canon Arcana allowed, and Personae must be related to mythology or legends somehow.
3. Speaking of it, you can also claim a canon Persona that had already been made and simply add moves to it, just stay reasonable.'
4. If you want to make an irregular or non-canon move for the RP please consult me first.
5. Please don't repetitively spam the topic, if nobody is present besides you at the time then patiently wait.
6. If playing a canon character, at least attempt to stay in canon. And although some people like them, OC/canon are a bit iffy and are allowed as long as both roleplayers are okay with that pairing.
7. Only two characters per Arcana, not including playable or social link canons, as in, there may only be two OCs with the Magician Arcana. Also, please attempt to slightly align your character's past/personality with your Arcana.
I'd love to play in the Persona universe... count me in with an OC.
I'm interested! So count me in, :D
I'm in. I'd like the actual rules on the characters I can play though, mainly whether or not I can play Yu. I love his personality in the anime and I think I have a good grasp on it. However I can see why you wouldn't want people to play him. No matter what I'm in though. Love P4.
What kind of RP would this be? Casual?
If its casual I'm interested.
Yes, as this would be a casual RP, with some set regulations but not too many.
Lionheart! Yes, if it's preferred by most and if somebody is interested in him, I would definitely allow Yu/Souji in this RP.
I'll edit it with a rule or two but only regarding the Arcana and Personae.
Well I would absolutely love to play him, so if that's cool then I'll do that. Now whether I have another character besides, I'm not sure. I'd put the question of whether or not I can to you first.
Yes! That would be fine then!
OCs are actually preferred for this RP, anybody can make one! I'm still sort of new here so after enough people come around should I post a blank OC template in the Character Sheets section? ;u; I do have an example character which I will be using ready.
Yeah, I believe that'd be the best thing to do, put the idea for the CS and we can help you finish it (if its not already finished, :P).
LONG POST WARNING o:
Here's the blank character sheet:
Skills and Attributes:
[Skills at the beginning]
[Skills by the end of the RP]
And here's the example character(who I shall also use in the RP)
Name: Leiko Yokkako
(Optional) Aliases: None
Birthday/Birthplace/Nationality: July 22nd/Ginza/Tokyo
(Optional)Clubs/extracurricular activities: Art Club
(If any)Occupation: Commissioned artist
Physical Appearance: Leiko has smooth skin, brown eyes and curly chocolate brown locks. Her face and jawline is narrow and foxlike, but her eyes are almond shaped and an icy blue color. Her eyebrows are usually neatly plucked. Her lips aren't that thin, but they aren't pouty either. Her cheeks are on the thin side and are usually quite pale, blushes don't usually show through, if they even do at all. Her nose is small and even dainty looking; matching her sleek face and her nose is curved aristocratically. Her neck and shoulders are slender. Her chin has a slight vertical cleft in it. Her hair is curly and is worn plainly and down.
She has a slender body build, narrowed and small. Her arms are smooth and elegant; her legs are long and refined. Her hands are sinewy and her fingers are thin, but elegant. She usually maintains short fingernails to more efficiently play string instruments, and she won't paint them. She has multiple hourglass curves, with a moderately sized chest.
Clothing: Leiko enjoys elegant and snug garments. She changes their color according to the seasons, but she really favors wearing V-necks and multiple layers, alongside boots with thigh high socks. Her taste in clothing is a little eccentric, neon colors appeal to her the most out of any other shades and sometimes she’s very easy to spot, occasionally she’ll go out dressed in all neon colors, but she mostly goes for cooler or warmer, more regular shades alongside touches of neon rather than go out all out with the outrageous colors.
Her tops are generally long with plunging necklines and corsets are often featured in her wardrobe during winter when more layers are required, during the winter she’ll wear warmer colors and she’ll most likely pair her layers with arm and leg warmers, or arm warmers and thick, thigh high socks. Wintertime is her favorite time due to being able to wear more snuggly layers. She’ll ditch her skirts and shorts for the boy’s uniforms pants, but she’ll still wear the regular girl’s top no matter how silly it might appear. She likes scarves as well; and maybe even a shawl to go with it, but she doesn’t wear them all the time because if she did she believes it would make her look like an old lady.
She can also wear ornately patterned and lacy clothing. During the warmer seasons she’ll wear skirts and shorts, but she’ll lack the corsets and go for waistcoats which are usually meant for men but she has them tailored to fit her much smaller size. She’ll wear warm, bright colors and more neon in the summer because it at least reflects a little heat away from her. She doesn’t like wearing jewelry at all, besides a ring or two.
Personality: Outgoing, rebellious in an excited way, and a popular party animal. She’s well known amongst the people of Inaba, for going to parties but never for hosting them. She’s rather popular ever since her transfer from Tokyo, with a quirky sense of humor and an easily excitable nature. She gets affectionate and touchy with everybody regardless of gender, but appears to be rather supportive of everybody around her, earning genuine affection for her false acting. She’s quick to kick those who bully others. She doesn’t appear airheaded but isn’t all down to earth. She pays attention in class and does well while aspiring for seemingly impossible things, like getting a castle and whether she’s kidding about that or not can’t easily be said. She’s surprisingly quick to banter with the teachers if she believes they’re wrong and sometimes even get detention for it.
This is a deep deception. She gets bored easy, is inconsistent, and secretly hates most of her moronic airheaded ‘friends’. She’s honestly rather fickle with everything from hobbies to the people she hangs out with, this can be mistaken as her being a social butterfly, but she actually gets really bored of others company. Leaving them for a little while is her way of secretly saying ‘you’re not amusing me’. Amusement is key within her personality’s design, as long as you’re amusing her (but also believe her fašade is real) then she’ll stick around to laugh. She believes that most only love the false image she projects for her social gain and game. She’s almost sick of pushing her true nature back into the crevices of her mind, alongside all of her snarky ridiculing comments; however, she mostly feels conflicting about how she acts.
People seem so used to her being happy. She’s secretly very insecure about her relations with everybody at school and is desperate for them not to leave her, whenever she mentally debates on whether she should act how she wants to; a cynical voice reminds her that nobody will remain if she turns to another attitude. She’s very sick of the people in Inaba overall, but what else does she have? People being her friend is also another way she can subtly manipulate people. She has an unkind thirst for power and desperately needs to people to be around and to control to make herself feel better. She feels very malicious towards other people, especially her fellow students, she easily gets envious over those who have higher grades. One genuine part she shows through is the desire to touch people. She likes displaying physical affection, even if real mental affection is false. She’s very fearful, not of her true nature but reactions to it. She’ll easily get jealous when others put their hands on things she believes to belong to her. She has paranoia of others stealing her things.
Although she easily get suspicious of those who she knows turning on her, she asks people and comes on subtly, although she’ s never that good at quelling her paranoia. She can restrain almost everything about her mind, with the exception of fears and paranoia. Leiko is easily prone to becoming a nervous wreck, which is usually when she high tails it home. She’s actually rather intelligent with above standard grades, but her real cleverness lays in the arts. She can’t play an instrument but she can sculpt, sew, paint and draw very adeptly. Art comes natural to her, most likely from her father whom she never had the privilege to know. She has a small sense of guilt and doesn’t really care about the problems anybody else may be having.
Likes: Rams, sheep, elk, moose, goats, horses, neon colors, sweet foods, video games (not strategy RPGs, she’s more the Animal Crossing type), attractive people, rock music, pop music
Dislikes: Chess, checkers, strategy games, most of her classmates, sunny weather, warm weather, humid weather, salty foods, bland foods, fruits, sexists, homophobes, racists, immature humor, TV, cats, dubstep music
(Optional)Habits: She has a habit of glancing at the clock, or looking for one around her, she also has a habit of raising her eyebrows as she speaks regardless of her true emotions or feelings.
Arcana: Lust/Hunger Arcana
Shadow's Personality: Leiko’s suppressed self represents her fear of losing the interest of people, people make her entire being, if nobody likes or depends on her, then she won’t really be able to get close or have power and control over anybody. Power and control over others is her deepest desire. Besides being despicably cowardly, her shadow also expresses greed for the close bonds that others share with each other; she wants to be close but only to use people before throwing them out. She’s afraid of losing her ties with people which is why she must appear positive at all times. Even with its main point, her shadow also expresses that her desire to forge close bonds also arises from insatiable hunger for love and craving for attention, explaining her broad and outgoing nature.
Weapon(s): Leiko mostly uses claw-like blades that strike out when she flexes her hand a certain way.
Glasses: Neon purple Cat Eye glasses, horned rimmed glasses with flared outer edges where the arches join the frame.
Skills and attributes:
[Beginning]Maragi, Agilao, Black Spot, Mudo, Mudoon, Tentarafoo, Poisma, Evil Touch
[By the end]Mraragion, Agidyne, Mamudoon, Die For Me!, Evil Touch, Ghostly Wail, Null Poison, Null Rage
[Weakness: Light, Ice]
Past: Leiko wasn't really in a nice place for most of her childhood. She inherited wit and steadfast determination from her mother, and raw desire and addictive habits from her father. Her mother was a wealthy and working doctor, who had come from a rather unstable back ground, her relatives had constantly pushed her into relationships and forced her into religion, so when it was against their desire for her to marry Leiko's father, she did the exact opposite of what they wanted. Her mother, while not the nicest of people, knew true values and loyalty, screw those who wanted to use you. Leiko’s mother met her father in a crowded bar and soon after they fell in love, they got married.
Her father died in a drunken driving accident, and even before then an unfortunate niche in her father had been his alcoholic habits. The accident was caused by him alone, two other people died. Her mother's sanity spiraled down from there, after Leiko was born; her mother was served as a constant reminder of her previous relationship. As a result, Leiko was never treated very nicely by her mother. She had inherited the adept social skills of her father, and although she was popular in school, she was verbally abused by her mother at home. This became a regular cycle, whether it was finding little mistakes to exaggerate, or simply placing needless blame on her, Leiko's pride dwindled and she soon began to shut herself away from those at school.
Others didn't like this change in her, as she saw her popularity dwindle; she began to realize the importance of popularity in life. This was during her middle school years, and it disgusted her. Her mother disgusted her and she disgusted herself. She began to feel rather empty; a fear of people leaving her became apparent. She didn’t care if she was ‘used’ because she would be using people as well. So she began to act how she usually would. Even though she had lost touch of what she usually was. She was used to having things crammed down her throat, and she was used to taking it with a smile. No more. Her mentality grew disgusted; there were no people who would accept her for who she was. She faced that soon after she realized it.
She tapped into social skills once more in high school and began to manipulate people that way, digging into blackmail and seduction mostly. She was a very good listener, very good at being silent and stealthy, but she specialized in outgoingness. She created an entire false persona. She was good at charming others, she was good at being tempting and subtly manipulative. As time wore on she grew tired of appearing so positive. Her talents in the art excelled, earning her more popularity.
Her mother continued to spiral down, the climax of it eventually being when Leiko arrived home one day and got into a fight with her mother, a verbal one which escalated. Her mother became enraged, throwing dish washer fluid into her eyes. Leiko was blinded, and after her mother fled upstairs, she managed to call the hospital. Her mother was sent to the mental hospital with charges, Leiko would eventually have to testify if she wanted her mother out.
Leiko's sight was saved… But only temporarily. Eventually there was an even possibility of blindness. She felt numb, she felt dead for some godforsaken reason and nothing made sense. It shattered her psyche, she cracked completely. She went almost crazy, but she suppressed it and it ended up hollowing out her heart. But that was unpleasant, deluded by herself, she wiped the event from her memory. Or at least she attempted to. She wouldn't let such horrid things ruin her social game. She kept on being social.
