The bell rings and you run out of your class, today was the first meeting of the Modern Japanese Visual Culture Club. With registration form in hand you head up to the meeting room, it was on the second floor of building A. It was a beautiful Monday and a great day to start the school year. You had heard quite a few things about the "Otaku Club" but were excited nevertheless. Today will be a day of making new friends and exploring your love for anime/ manga.
Jiro hurried around the club room getting last second things out of the way. On the table was a plate of assorted goodies including cookies, candies, and different sodas. He had also left out copies of various mangas including Mirai Nikki, Bakemonogatari, Bleach, HSoTD, and a few other random titles. Everything had to be looking good for his new club, he wanted everyone to have a good time.
As he finished all of the preparations he sat down pulling out a pad and began to draw. He had been on a chibi drawing rampage lately and was overloading with cuteness. Look at her hair, hehe. If I make her eyes even bigger she will be so adorable. Gaah, stupid pencil led broke. He sat up and grabbed a pencil from his backpack. After much doodling he sat back in his chair with a satisfied look on his face. "Alrighty, let's get started!" Jiro put on a big smile getting ready for his members.
Yukine rushed as quickly as she could to make it as early as possible to the first meeting of the Otaku Club. Her heart pounded with excitement as she practically leaped down the stairs from her classroom to the club room. In her hands were a flyer and a registration form that was quite filled out and even decorated with various imagery from many different anime by yours truly. The most prominent art was at the top of the form of the characters from Mondaiji-tachi ga Isekai kara Kuru Sou Desu yo? an anime she recently watched and fell in love with.
She slammed open the door with a grin on her face just as she heard the words "Lets get started!". She wore an excited grin on her face as she panted from having practically sprinted to the meeting. "ThisistheModernJapaneseVisualCultureClubright ?" She said in one breath. She then noticed the manga sitting on a nearby table and she hopped over to take a gander completely ignoring the drinks. Her bunny ears flopped with each bounce. She let out a squeak of glee at the various manga and light novels sitting there in their glory. "Oh my god! I've seen the anime, but I never got a chance to read to light novel!" She picked up Bakemonogatari and hugged it.
She then looked at Jiro directly for the first time in entering the room. "Hi, I'm Yukine Masaka, you may call me Yuki. I'm gonna have so much fun here!" She practically threw the registration form at him in her excitement. "Oh I can't wait to get started! What's the first thing we'll be doing for club? I have a long list of things I'd like to do! There's still so much anime I haven't seen that I need to see. Then there's the visual novels I want to play. The manga Ineedtoread!" She realized she was getting carried away and stopped talking for a few seconds. "So.... ummm... What's your name?"
A girl with bunny ears on burst into the room. "Uh, hi." Jiro was a bit surprised by Yuki's entrance. Before he had a second to comprehend what was happening she practically threw her registration paper at him. "My name is Jiro, nice to meet you Yuki." Someone's a little bundle of joy, heh. He watched as she ran over to the desk looking at all of the manga and light novels in awe. She seemed very excited to be in the club. Jiro looked over at her "I'll be letting you know what were up to once the rest of the members arrive." He said with a smile.
"I really loved that light novel, feel free to borrow it." He looked down at her registration paper. The page was completely covered in drawings, he smiled again. She will fit in nicely here. "Oh also Yuki, help yourself to the snacks." He had spent a good bit of time getting them out so they might as well be eaten. He looked back up at Yuki, he could see she was just bursting with excitement. It will be nice to have someone so energetic around here.
Uncanny steps were heard outside the clubroom of the MJVCC, though blatantly passing it and continuing into the distance. This was nothing unusual for Suna, the horrid navigational skills were legendary only being. In perspective the way she gets around is similar to that of a tadpole in a shrinking puddle of water, caused by rain the night before, but that current day afterwards was sunnier than the mojave in August. Swimming in circles until there was no puddle left to swim in, she paced down the hallway until reaching the stairs back down the first floor.
"Oh-come on! I just did laps down this place and I still can't find it."
She rubbed in chin in thought, then scratching her messy hair thinking maybe-just maybe, she should check every single classroom until she finds the one with the club in it. That was the most logical answer of course, there was no other so she was smart enough to come to this conclusion in the first place. There was no way she would be defeated, she had been at this school for three years and had been down this hallways many a time, and every day- this battle- this never ending conflict with architectural choice. She returned the direction she came, stomping loudly as a means to 'pump one's self up. The first door, she swung open- classroom.
Slamming the door shut, which wasn't the most wisest of decisions today- but she was never one of the wisest people anyway. She then approached the next door, this time she would be more subtle, stealthy, agile- like an assassin. Pulling the collar of her shirt over her nose, she quietly opened the door just slightly enough to see inside. It was indeed the clubroom, but- she did not think it was. Seeing a boy and a girl with cookies and sodas- No.. It was a secret date between two lovers and she had just invaded upon their privacy. So lewd, so unladylike the only thing she could do was close the door and leave them be. Suna sighed, she was losing hope, maybe she has suddenly developed dyslexia and was reading it wrong. Or maybe there was some decoder ring, that you were supposed to be handed but she missed and couldn't find the proper means to decipher some riddle within the text.
"I give up!"
Falling to her knees in the hallway, she slumped her head down in defeat. The school, it has won this fight but not the war, and she would regain her strength and return for revenge. This was not fantasy, this was the life of battle- and her class was still 'The Assassin. She stood up, her eyes becoming serious- so serious in fact that she turned back to the classroom where the lovers were socializing. With a sudden burst of energy she ran towards the room not caring if she were interrupting anything too 'h' for her likings, she needed to find the clubroom before the meeting was over. She swung the door open to see a girl opening a book with bunny ears, and a guy drawing at the table.
"Do... you... guys- Is this the MJVCC?"
As soon as he finished his sentence another girl peeked her head into the room. "Do... you... guys- Is this the MJVCC?" Jiro locked eyes with her. "Is this the MJVCC? IS THIS THE MJVCC?!?!?... Why yes it is, welcome." He laughed to himself, he loved to mess around with people occasionally. I should honestly become a comedian, so funny. He went off into a dream in his head, he had just told the funniest joke in the world and the audience was going wild with laughter. Thank you, I'll be here all week.
Before he got too carried away with his dream he looked back at the girl. "What's your name, do you have your registration form?" She looked rather timid, he hoped the joke wasn't overkill. He didn't want to scare her off right when the club was opening up. She looked like a pretty average student, he originally thought he would be getting mostly questionable characters in his club. Then again, appearances are just the cover of the book. Either way he was happy that another member showed up.
Yuki smiled brightly as she was told she could borrow the novel and hugged it even harder. Then a quiet seeming girl entered the room inquiring about the MJVCC to which Jiro had a rather theatrical response. She giggled a bit at his goofy response. "Hi! I'm Yuki!" She exclaimed to the newcomer in bright and happy tones. "I look forward to being friends with you!"
It was only after his comment about the food did she notice that snacks were indeed available. She simply poured herself a cup full of Coca-Cola and plopped happily down next to Jiro. Again her ears flopping around wildly and even coming near hitting Jiro. She was resisting the urge to dig right into the book she currently held in a very joyful embrace. She couldn't wait for everyone to show up so she could start talking about all the amazing series she watched over the summer, some new others old most of them good. She knew once she got talking she wouldn't stop until she ran out of breath or someone talked louder than her. Even at home she got into talking contests with her mother about anime.
After filling out the registration form, Ryuunosuke walked to the classroom the club was supposed to be in. "How will everyone be?" He looked at his hand filled with rings, he stopped for a second and then a smirk full of confidence appeared in his face. "It's alright! I am Belphegor Laebalis! There's nothing to fear!" Now he was running, anxious of meeting everyone else in the club. He opened the door of a classroom. "The Demon Lord has arrived! Kneel before me!" he shouted, striking a dramatic pose, just after doing so, he noticed that in that classroom, they were actually giving classes. "Uh......... I'm sorry!" He bowed down and left running.
Now he was standing in front of another classroom. He double-checked the number before entering. "I think this is it." The door was open, so he peeked inside to see if there was someone else inside, to his surprise, a couple of girls and a boy had already arrived. 'Now, for my presentation!' He entered the room, without minding the ones that were already in. He took his black coat and put it in front of him. "My name is Belphegor Laebalis!" He said to the group. He put his coat in his back again in the most dramatically way possible. ".......But, you commoners, can call me Ryuunosuke, or better enough, just Ryu." He was smirking, thinking his entrance had been perfect. He struck a pose by putting his hand in his face. "A pleasure to make your acquaintance."
He got off-character after seeing the manga and light novels that were in the table. "You've got HSoTD? I searched a lot for it, but I never found it. Do you mind if I borrow it?" He said, holding the manga with both hands, eyes sparkling. He shook his head to snap out of it and looked back at them. "So what is going to be our first club activity? Wait, which one of you is the president?" He sat in a nearby chair, cross-legged. "Well, that's not important right now, what are your names? And....." He got in-character again. "Are you really just mere commoners? Or perhaps you are something more?"
Suna couldn't help but smile at the quite awful joke that was just told to her. So much to the point where she inhaled deeply, calming herself down she sat at the table to reveal her true colors. She turned to the leader of the club, her face seemed calm but what was she about to say- the silence for a couple seconds seeming like decades the room's atmosphere would feel thick and then-
"That was the absolute worst joke, I have ever heard."
She began laughing, smacking her exposed knee with one hand and holding her stomach with the other. Turning to see the hyper rabbit-eared girl attempt to focus on something and fail, she let out a sigh of relief. This was better than she had thought, none of these people had a hard time showing their true colors, it was comfortable. Then she was questioned about her registration- oh- crap. Where had she put it, she left her backpack in class but she was sure she brought it with her. Then her name, no that wasn't important now she must find that registration form it was her lifeline to sanctuary, the only place she could talk about Madoka Magica with other people and not be scolded. Success, well- in a way- the form fell from inside the girl's shirt floating lightly towards the ground and finally landing.
"Here it is! My name is Yamada Suna, of the Yamada Family- I like fantasy em-em-oh and..."
A pause, small though- she had to say something clever.
But before she could, a shrouded man appeared from the doorway calling the denizens of the room 'peasants, who did he think he was- no, this was far graver than it seemed to be. Shaking as he finished his speech and went straight for the most 'h' scripture on the table- there was no doubt about it this man, this villain. He would need to be defeated, but wait a second they were now under the same banner. It would be borderline treason to eliminate an ally, but she couldn't stand for it, no she had already been defeated today. It would 'not' happen again. She stood from the chair, malevolently staring down at the cloaked boy who introduced himself as Ryu- no he was not worthy of the name- not her favorite Street Fighter character. He was no martial artist hero who fought for honor or justice, this fiend would need to be put down.
She said this trembling, pointing towards the villain as she recalled hearing that he was a demon lord. She sprinted out of the door in a flash, her registration paper ripping slightly as she stepped onto it causing the thrust to send it flying towards the table miraculously landing on perfectly. For a short couple minutes she would be gone, but as fast as she left she returned with her secret weapon she brought to school everyday, her Izaya jacket. The expression changed to that of a cocky and emotionless teenager, looking at her enemy and smirking.
"You think you have what it takes demon lord? As a human- I will take you down, even if you are my ally."
"That was the absolute worst joke, I have ever heard." The girl burst out laughing. "I... I.. Thought it was hilarious." Jiro hung his head in despair. But... I was going to become famous.. They loved me. Still recovering from the shock of the rejection to his joke he watched as the girl fumbled around looking for something. As she continued her search a single piece of paper fell from her shirt. Ah, her registration form... "Here it is! My name is Yamada Suna, of the Yamada Family- I like fantasy em-em-oh and..." Before she had time to finish what she was saying another person covering himself with a black coat burst into the room.
After the boys long introduction Jiro replied. "Welcome both of you, my name is Jiro. This is the Otaku Club.." The previously cloaked boy ran over to the table picking up one of the books. "You've got HSoTD? I searched a lot for it, but I never found it. Do you mind if I borrow it?". Jiro smiled as he replied. "You can borrow it as long as you return it in the same condition". As Suna saw the boy enter the room she looked aggravated. After Ryu finished his entrance Suna darted out of the room only to return seconds later wearing a jacket.
"You think you have what it takes demon lord? As a human- I will take you down, even if you are my ally." As soon as she finished her sentance Jiro threw a chalk board eraser hitting Suna directly in the side of her head. "No fighting here you two..." Jiro started to giggle as he saw powder from the chalk that had been left on her face after being hit. "If you two fight I'm sending you to.... the corner."
Haruko waved at her mom and dad as she jumped onto her skate board and put on herheadphones as she started listening to her music, right now she was playing, The World is Mine by Matsune Miku. "THIS MY SONG!" She yelled as she sang along. She was jumping over obstacles as she went by and almost running into 5 people, "I'm sorry!" She yelled as she kept on riding. A girl had cookies in hervhand and Haruko took three, "Hey!" The girl yelled but Haruko just smirked as she went rolling away. When she got to the school she had to swerve through a lot of kids, "Move!" She yelled making them all jump to the side. "Keep the door open please!" She said as she jumped over the stairs and went into the school. She jumped off her skate board and put her foot on the end of the board flipping towards her as she caught it. She heard the mursmurs but ignored it as she walked toqards the ogaku club room using the map she printed out. "I wonder if I could jump off the roof with my skate board..." She asked herself going into deep thought and ate a cookie she took from the girl. "Wow! This is good! Should have taken them all! Wait but that's stealing... will she call the cops? Shit.." She said still eating the cookies with her panda hoodie over her head. "Why is she talking to herself?" A girl said, "Beacuse I can." Haruko replied,"Don't make me get my Death Note notebook." She said turning back to the girls with a smirk. She took out the rollers from the bottom of her shoe and rolled over to the club it was way faster.
