I watched the last few costumers sip their coffee and look at their electronics, probably scrolling through the daily news, or on some social network. I sighed as I looked at the clock, I was supposed to close at 7:30 and it was now close to 10:00 o'clock. She began to make her way out to the tables and cleaned up the rest of the scraps left by the fleeing costumers, I had done this at least a few times in the last hour, trying to keep myself awake. Good thing that I graduated in a few days, and I'd be able to catch up on my sleep and hopefully find a second job.
I wiped the sweat from my forehead and began to brew one last pot of coffee, and made myself an espresso to keep myself awake. I then face palmed as I remembered I had homework due for the next day and that I should be studying for finals. My body collapse behind the counter as I rolled my eyes at myself. I was always getting myself too deep in to things and never could balance them all out at once, but if it wasn't for my parents owning this place, I would not have a job. I got up to see the last costumer leaving and I gave a relieved smile.
I had yet to lock the door as I began to do the final cleaning, I cleaned up the messes of the last few costumers and then made my way to the back of the counter to throw away the left pastries, and wash everything out to be ready in the morning for the next person's shift, I'd always be able to work longer hours once school ended, I felt pretty bad for myself to only be excited to work more, than to actually go out and do something with my life. I sighed and continued my duties, glancing up at the clock here and there to watch the time pass by.
Day time had set, it was now the cloak of darkness that surrounds the skies. All was pitch black as thick dark clouds settled into the surrounding area where a thunder could be heard cracking loudly as it struck upon a body of water kilometres away from where I was standing. Rain drops began to fall. Soon my footsteps would be nothing but a series of symphonies that created large ripples by the concrete floor of the city. It was a crowded street, cars continued to drive away into the night and the nocturnal types and those who goes to enjoy life in the pubs and clubs suddenly flared alive. They were dressed fancily for their occassion. And here I am, walking on two shiny black leather shoes. The rain wasn't going to wet my dark blue jeans so I quickly ran towards a nearby shelter close to a cafe where they had a verandah.
I washed the water away from my silky and soft scarlet coloured hair with my incredibly pale fingers hoping that my brown jacket would not become soaked in rain water. I was lucky to get under a hood so quickly as the rain continually dropped harsher and harsher. There was little hope for me to walk on further. It seems as though the cafe was not closed, perhaps I could just go in and take shelter temporarily there. Another thunder struck itself towards the sea, its suddenly flashing light made my scarlet eyes to appear sinister. I turned around and pushed the cafe doors open. At late at night, this store was not closed good.
My head encircled the corners of the cafe room where I could notice a young girl behind the counter struggling on her own with no apparent help. Her face continued to observe the clock as several ticks passes by. I did have my share of blood tonight, but perhaps a little bit more for dessert wouldn't be so bad of me, right? My eyes sharpened as I walked towards her direction as I could start to smell a scent which brought my taste buds into immediate life. She smelled delicious-- And I don't know whether or not I would be able to keep her alive.
I kept cleaning, lost in my own hush cursing as the stain on the counter wouldn't come off. I then began to hear the rain hit harder and looked outside, my small apartment was nearly four blocks from here, and I had to walk through it. I then turned back and continued to put things away, the clashing of the spoons, and cups were loud enough to smother the sound of someone entering the cafe. I brushed my jet black hair out of my face, and wiped my forehead once more. I was so tired, and couldn't wait to drop on to the small matress that sat on the floor of the large window that allowed me to view the busy streets that always became more lively at night.
Thunder hit outside the window and I jumped to and turned around by instinct, then followed by a small yelp. I covered my mouth in a apologetic way, not meaning to seem disrespectful to the man who walked in. I bowed and looked back up to apologize but soon got lost in the young man's appearance. He was... Gorgeous in so many ways, and all I could do was look at him. His hair was this unique red, and his eyes blazed a light crimson, something I had never seen before. I recomposed myself and cleared my throat.
"I am sorry, sir. The cafe is closed." The thunder hit once more, and I thought it would be rude for me to kick him back out in to the storm. I sighed and waved to a seat. "Feel free to stay until the rain lessens, sir. Would you like anything to drink?" I asked trying not to blush at his phenomenal appearance. he seemed to be glowing, and here I was dull, sweaty, and ... just plain dull. I turned and pulled out a pot and began to brew some more coffee and went to the back to change my appearal . I was off duty, and was sick of sitting in my coffee soiled work clothes.
The lady was oblivious of my presence, thanks to the cluttering of ceramics and aluminium that she was holding on to. I tried to keep my footsteps as light as a feather as I close in to where she was standing. The girl was brushing her lustrous black hair using her think fingers as she wiped away what seems to be her own sweat from exhaustion. This would mean that she would be easy prey as she would catch herself off guard without much effort on my part.
She was standing close to the window, and I was ready to just suddenly swoop at her and biting her neck. A pity that, from what I could tell from the hazy reflection of the window in front of her, she looked so attractive. Those cheeks looked so soft, I felt the need to pinch it. Another thunder struck down and its flash of light made her jump and turned around in surprise as she let out a small yelp. I was discovered and my muscles was about to spring into her, but her hands covered her mouth as if apoligising. Perhaps she had thought that what she was doing was not right for a stranger. Excellent. She bowed and I took my time to examine her pretty face. Her amethyst eyes looked at me and I gazed to her eyes trying to charm her with my appearance and it seemed as though it was working.
I then learned. This girl's willpower was strong. She was able to shake herself aware and back to reality as she cleared her throat. I gave her a smile to cover up my intentions. "I am sorry, sir. The cafe is closed." That's it? She's going to kick me out? Well it is late... And it is raining. The thunder struck again. Sure was a heavy storm there. This would make a great episode of a movie or even a game. I'll name it Heavy Rain if I succeeded in making one. The girl sighed as the thundered left. "Feel free to stay until the rain lessens, sir. Would you like anything to drink?" Bingo, here's my chance.
She allowed several machines brew a black substance. I didn't know what kind of substance it was. She managed to casually escape from my sight as I was distracted by this black substance-- but she later returned with a more casual attire that consisted of a blouse and a suspended skirt. "Sure. I'd like something to drink. You'll help me with that right?" I gave her a wink as I tried to move closer to her. "I want to know what your drink taste like..." I moved my face close to hers. I could smell a greater scent that was irresistible. I couldn't help myself. Even under the sweat, her blood seems to give off a sweeter scent and I was awfully tempted. My fangs revealed itself momentarily. "You're a beautiful girl and you smell so very sweet, dear." Just as I was about to dive at her neck, the door of the cafe cracked open again.
I hid my fangs and stopped in my tracks. I couldn't do it with others looking. I leaned my head backwards and saw several people just taking off their wet rainy clothes as if they too were seeking shelter.
I came back out and brushed off my clothing. He then began to talk to me with such charm in his voice, and I didn't know how to take it. My heart began to pound uncontrollably, but tried my hardest to keep my breathing calm. He began to make his way closer to me, and his eyes captured me once more. What was he doing? Was he going to try to rape me in my own cafe? I wanted to scream but I couldn't. He then told me, I smelled sweet. This had now took a weird turn, I tried to smell myself and tried to remember if I wore perfume that day, or maybe it was my lotion? I tried not to blush at the young man who seemed to have the wrong intentions.
He opened his mouth as if he was trying to show me something, I tried to focus on his teeth, but his eyes kept capturing me, he was almost touching me, body to body and I could feel my body feeling breathless, he was seducing me in a vulgar way and I couldn't get myself out of it. "Sir.. I.." I couldn't make out words as he had practically paralyzed me with fear, until the door opened and more people came pouring in. "No no no! We're closed! I'm sorry but there is a diner a few doors down that our still open!" I walked passed the boy and made my way to the door gently pushing people back out, yet I forgot to ask him to leave also.
I grabbed a chair and pulled myself up on to it, pulling the silver thread that was connected to the on and off switch for the illuminated 'open' sign that dazzled against the puddles on the sidewalk, I could see why people found it as a open invitation. I then climbed down, and put the chair back, I returned to the door and locked it. I took a sigh and looked outside to see the rain still heavy and felt bad for everyone who had to leave. My heart then jumped as I turned around, I felt like an idiot for not getting him out of here also. Now I was locked in the same room as him, and my keys and purse were on the other side of him.
I began to walk forward keeping my eyes away from his, because that was what seemed to capture me. "I am sorry sir, but I am going to have to ask you to leave." I tried to sound brave and calm as I could, I then glanced up at the clock and really began to panic. Midnight?! I was ready to fall over dead at this point, I got no studying in, I'm still here, and now this guy is trying to have his way with me, and I was ready to snap. I bolted to the back room, and searched for my keys and purse as quickly as possible which only made it harder to grab everything in the dark room. I grabbed my jacket and heard my keys fall out, I sighed and cursed under my breathe as I dropped to my knees and began to feel around for the keys.
My chances was blown by the entrance of several more people entering from the outside. They sought shelter from the cafe yet they were closed. I turned my head towards the guests before a force pushed me out of my way. The girl swooped beside me, out from the back of the counter and placed effort as she tried to shoo-away the new guests. The rain was still strong. The roof of the cafe remain to protect me from the dampness of rain but it made a symphony as the raindrops hit the rooftop of the cafe with different tones and notes which nearly sounded like a relaxing orchestral masterpiece. Even I as a vampire-- Have a weakness for such regal kind of music. I looked to the empty ceiling where my eyes shut it self and enjoyed the tickling sound of muted raindrops.
As I shut my eyes, the girl seem to have dragged a chair and stood on it trying to reach for a small switch which I could hear in the midst of the raindrops an alienating click as she turned the neon lights that invited the guests in off. My heart indulged itself within the cafe's current atmosphere. Soft thunders resounded every few moments which added to the suspense of the orchestra as it reached its climax. My heart raced as I continued to listen. The wind by the cafe's surroundings were soft and gentle. The light swaying of my hair and garments made it feel so grand. As the symphony was reaching its resolution, a louder and more frightening thunder began to boom as it caused the buildings in the area to shake. My eyes shot open and I returned to the now closing cafe.
I can see the waitress girl across from me. Her eyes was looking partially away from me, but since I was the only sentient being standing here and is alive-- It was obvious who she was trying to look at. I could sense her growing fear of me. Perhaps this sweet candy would be harder to charm than I thought. She tries to move forward while avoiding eye contact with me. As soon as she stepped forward her voice came into play as part of her orchestra. "I am sorry sir, but I am going to have to ask you to leave." Isn't she such a brave girl? I like her attitude for such a sweet cotton candy like her. Vulnerable and fragile. Her face glanced upwards and I followed her gaze. It was a clock which pointed both of his arms at 12. It was midnight. The night was young and yet, the magic of raindrops has satiated my apparent hunger for blood. I could smell her sweet scent, yet my body does not force me to move.
"Very well." The girl sprung into immediate worry and panic after she had glanced at the time. Her body jolted forward and walked past me in a jiff as if she was the wind itself. My feet moved towards the backroom of the cafe where I observe her struggling to grab her belongings as it indeed was a dark room. She had her hands on a jacket-- but as soon as her hands caught the jacket, shiny metal pieces began to resound on the floor. Something had fell. The girl cursed as she let out a sigh of frustration. The word escaped me but I reached my hands to my pocket as I took out from a small rectangular box a pair of glasses. I made sure that I wore them correctly. "Seems like you can use a little bit of help." My hands crawled upon the walls as I felt with the tip of my fingers for a switch. After I could feel what seems to be a button, I flipped the switch and lights flared alive filling it with light. "There, clarity." The keys were directly under her bottom which I thought to be rather humourous.
I snickered with my hands covering my lips. I gently crouched down and took hold of the key without tempting myself to become a perverted hermit. I stood back up quickly with her keys in hand as I played with it by placing my index finger through the key ring's loop and spun it around at a speed that the key would remain suspended in my fingers. It had a name tag on it, decorated in pretty decors with a name on it. Azami-- It was written in a regal font. Somebody important must've given this to her. I grasped the key fully into my hand and called for her name. "Azami, I found your keys." When she turned around, I would give her my fist and open it, revealing the object that she wanted. Should she not thank me, when she attempts to pick the keys I would close my fists and pull them away and tell her that she should at least give me her tiniest gratitude before finally returning the keys.
"I apologise for such rude behaviour that I did when I saw you earlier. My mind wasn't very clear and I was jumping into harsh conclusions." I bowed to her with my hands to the side to show my sincerest apologies before I stood up properly once again. "To pay back of your identity, I will tell you of my name. I am Lord Vasqui Ryu. My colleagues and comrades refer to me as Vassy." I made my way to the door with Azami when she was ready. She was keeping distance, I wouldn't wonder why she would be doing such careful measures. The rain outside was still pouring, but this time it had lighten slightly. There was no other way for me to remain dry. If I were to leave now I would become soaked. Perhaps it was time that I reach for my phone and call my chauffeur to assist me in moving through this mess.
I removed my phone and contacted my mansion. When I dialed the number, a woman picked up the phone and said what every other man in the world would expect when you called them. She said hello with a questioning tone. I moved my lips and carved my words as I informed the woman of my situation. "It is pouring badly in town. Is it the latter there? Hmm. Please send my chauffeur to come and pick me up. Ensure that there is an extra available seat, I have a guest who may join me." The woman on the phone acknowledged and I ended the call. I turned my head towards Azami. "I understand that we do not know each other very much, but the rain is rather heavy for you to be walking on your own. You may fall ill. And, judging from the way you have panicked earlier it seems as though you need to do something important. I have sent a transport for us to use. Please come with me, and I'll make sure that you are home at haste." Should she look back at me in disbelief, I would add another statement to ensure my sincerity. "You have my word."
I kept searching, feeling my knees become warm from being dragged on the ground and I scrounge for my keys, wanting to go home like never before. Today had already been a long day, and it felt like no matter how hard I tried there was something else in my way. I was lost in my own thoughts momentarily then blinded as the guy turned on the lights. I squinted for a few seconds and wanted to rub my eyes, but remembered my mascara would smear and give me the mask of a raccoon, something I wasn't up to take off once I got home.
I kept looking, and to my surprise they still weren't in front of me, and I was ready to throw a tantrum in front of who ever. His voice made me jump as he said my name. I was completely confused as to how he knew it and I turned to face him as he swung my keys around. I realized a plate with my name on it was hanging from it, and my nerves soon relaxed a bit, then my heart grew heavy, the plate meant a lot to me, and it was always with me. He reached out his hand, and without a word I went to grab it, but then his hand flew back. "Hey!" He then told me to give him a little gratitude. "What after you tried to attack me?!" My words were sharp but regretted, I still wasn't sure if that was true, I had no proof that he was trying to do anything, I soon gave him a 'sorry' look as I covered my mouth. I dropped my hands and stared at the ground, then gently folded the loose hairs behind my ears. "I apologize. Thank you for finding them." I said quite gently as I reached out my hand for the keys to be placed.
I then blinked a few times as I put my coat on then faced him in the same formality he was giving me. He apologized for his rude behavior and my cheeks began to turn pink. So you were trying to attack me, you bastard. the words in my mind had formed it's way on to my face, but quickly covered by an emotionless glance before his head came back up from his bow. "I- It's okay.." I tried to say confidently, but I was honestly scared out of my mind when he had pulled the stunt he did earlier. I still avoided too much eye contact, every time I tried to study them, my heart would feel as if it was going to explode. "Vassy? That's an interesting nick name, nice to meet you." I tried to stay polite, but my guard was no where near coming down yet for him.
We then began to make our way to the front of the cafe, and I kept cautious distance behind him, watching his strong broad shoulders, and the way his muscles tensed and relaxed as he walked, his jacket was just tight enough to see the alignment in his spine that split in to vines where his muscles lie. I had not noticed my cheeks illuminating it's rose like hue as I admired this mystery man from behind, the only safe way to be able to study him. He picked up the phone, and I could hear a woman in the background and I pulled myself out of the gaze out of respect for the woman on the phone.
He then demanded for a car to pick him up, and then I was stuck confused once again. It was as if he was someone important who got whatever he wanted, something anyone would dream of, but I was always different when it came to luxurious things, I liked to work for myself and earn my own things instead of receiving them from someone else's wealth. I had never been pampered all my life, I was already an adult when I was a child taking care of everything I could while my parents were working. Again, brought out of my own thoughts he spoke to me, and when he did, he looked right at me and this time I could not pull myself from his gaze. I blinked only a few times as he spoke, and he offered me a ride home. I finally pulled myself out of it and looked passed him outside where the small droplets had turned in to faucets draining from the clouds that poured more than dripped.
I looked back at him, absolutely nervous about what answer I would give him. If I was to say no, that would be entirely rude since he gave me his word I would get home safe, and also if I was to fall ill, school would only become that much harder for me. At the same time, why did he care? He could have left me here and slept perfectly fine, but instead he is taking time out of his night to seek to my health. I searched the ground for answer and looked up at him. "Sure, that would be fine. Thank you." I said finally, shaking in my voice out of plain nervousness. He was this gorgeous man that came out of no where, offering to take me home... What is going on?
The dripping droplets of rain continued to fall and made its place in the rain covered earth. Before she was finally able to unlock the door, my thoughts trailed back to the moment earlier when she walked towards the door and keeping her distance. Even in such fear I sense that she was examining me as if checking me out. I wouldn't believe that she would admit to that if I asked her. Perhaps it was my turn to take hold of the magnifying glass. My seemingly glowing eyes scanned over Azami like a bird eyeing his prey form afar. It seeks to learn the size of its prey, its habits and its movements. Like me, I sought to learn the way she had dressed herself. The way she moves and the way she reacts. I also had a look over her body and how she herself looks fair. Those tightly closed lips delicate to the touch tempted me to just plant my own to her before sinking my fangs between her neck as if I were to peck her. Her eyes that conveyed of her stunning beauty and a petite body that was adorable.
She seemed to be out of focus when I tried to speak to her. When her ears twitched and she turned her face towards me, she gazed directly to my eyes that was obscured by the clear glass of my glasses. She was drawn to me from them. She blinked in sync to the rhythm at which the rain was falling before snapping herself into reality. She looked at me, but not directly. It was hard to face somebody who would not see directly to you. It felt rude and I was ready to break it into her that I want her to look at me properly when she spoke to me. The wrath of the water god seem to be pointed directly at this city as its minions slowly raided the town worse than before. I could see just within the distance headlights of a vehicle heading towards my location.
Azami was still speechless. Or was that because of the offer that I had given to her? I acknowledged the fact that we were still considered to be strangers with one another. I still felt as though that I needed to do more than just apologise after my attempts of trying to drink from her blood. ... Since when have I been so very kind to a human? While I do not despise them in entirety, they hold what I needed to survive. Perhaps that could be amended if I could just make Azami and her sweet scent mine to savour. "Sure, that would be fine. Thank you." The vehicle had arrived and it stopped by the kerbside road of the cafe. A man in black stood up from the driver's door with a black umbrella and swirled around the car as he danced through the water and made his way towards us.
The chauffeur whispered to me as he covered me under his umbrella to escort me to my seat; "Not having an appetite my lord?" He said inconspicuously. I felt defensive, but my lips remained closed. He could be the one I should be devouring. I said nothing but puffed my breath at him and as he opened the car's door, I quickly took my seat before the chauffeur attended to Azami. "Follow me milady." The chauffeur made sure that she was not wet as he escorted her to the back seat across from where I was sitting before he himself returned to the driver's seat. I kept my words to a minimum at the current time. The chauffeur fixed his side mirrors and rear mirror before he ignited the machine into life. "So, who are we taking home first today?"
"Azami, tell Belmont of your address."
I could feel his eyes piercing in to me, but made no emotion to his process. I would not be a hypocrite after I stood there and studied everything from behind, but he seemed to be studying me with more vividness than the normal. I ducked my head slightly, hiding the rose color of my cheeks from him. If this man had the right mind, I'd let him take me any moment. My heart jumped from my own thoughts and I brought my hands to my chest. I was still a flowered girl, who had no experience in such activities or thoughts, and here I was fantasizing. I quickly threw my wall back up against him, and followed as he led us to the car.
A man dressed in black was waiting by the door of the car with a black umbrella. I looked up at Vass, and then back at the car. So he was some important person, to have a chauffeur drive him around. I stood attentively and watched as the driver whispered to Vass, I scrunched my eye brows at them, as he seemed offended by the driver's whispers and I stood in my spot quietly. I puffed at Vass as he climbed in to the car before me, a man of chivalry would have let me go first, but then again, when did a man ever show such gentleman qualities to a girl like me? The rain still poured, and I was amazed at it's stamina to keep up for so long, I was ready to check the oceans for drainage at this rate.
The man walked over to me, and gave me a respectful grin before escorting me to the car, he was amazing at not letting even a single drop hit my body. I climbed in to the car and sat on the opposite end of Vass, still avoiding the eye contact. I looked around to the beautiful velvet designs that made the the back look so beautiful and warm. It was colors of art, and divine royalty. I ran my fingertips against the soft wall in awe and smiled dreamily at such a luxurious site, one that I would never have thought I'd see in my life time. All that was needed was soft music, and a bit of wine.
Vass asked me of my address and I then threw up my wall again, searching through my thoughts of the possible things I could do. I could risk it, and give him my address, which could mean he would stalk me, or even kill me if he wanted to. Or he'd forget about me as soon as the car door closed behind me, which I was expecting to happen after this little episode anyways. "7863 D Roosevelt"I said looking at his chin, and not in his eyes, only glancing at his lips momentarily. That was my address, but I had remembered I wouldn't have to tell him which apartment I lived in because we were all in the same building. There was my way of saving myself, but I wasn't sure why I was so worried about him trying to find me anyways. He was giving me common courtesy, I let him stay in the shop and he gave me a ride home, we were even.
"7863 D Roosevelt." Her address was of no interest to me, to be perfectly honest. Should I would want to track her down, her sweet scent could lead me right to her. Azami was bewildered as she entered the car as she gazed upon its red interior. Belmont and I thought nothing of the interior design after the first year of having this vehicle serve us. What once used to be glamourous felt so plain and unsatisfying. The smell of the car though was what kept it seem to smell so grand. Its leathery look and smell makes it feel luxurious and expensive even if it was years old. The mechanic seems to be able to preserve the smell rather well. Belmont in the driver seat was snickering over the street name.
"Great leader, wasn't he? Haha." My chauffeur was an interesting man. He was a servant of the world-- bowing to every other people before him. He had worked with my family for many years and his attitude remains unchanged. I was sitting idly as I placed my face over the window of the back seat with my hand on the chin. The rain drops that falls onto the glass surface would refract light as the car move into motion towards the given address. The gentle humming of the engine was better than a loud ricket of this generation's cars. Azami was having her eyes at me again. She seems compelled to look at me often. I turned my face so I could face her. Belmont in the front looked into the rear view mirror and observed my actions rather curiously. "Shall I play some classical music?" Without direct agreement, Belmont switched the tape on and allowed whatever piece that was set to play.
"You keep gazing at me Azami. Is there something wrong with me?" I felt around my face as if something was out of place. "Is it my hair?" I then attempted to fix it without looking by the mirror. It was awkward when you can't see what you're doing. The car now turned to a corner where slowly tall buildings could be seen with their lights flashing.
"We're nearly there Miss." Belmont replied as he enjoyed his driving with the musical piece running.
