The Anthology of a World
Hello there, I would be interested in doing a series of short rps set in a sole world, which would be more developed as we go along and roleplay in it. The concept would be a series of loosely linked tales that would permit to all to enter and leave such a series in each episode, so to speak, without any penalty or bad blood between the participants. I know this must already have been done before a thousand time but I would like to do it nevertheless. So far, I do not have any specific new world in mind, yet I do have some minor guidelines for how we will operate.
Firstly, characters will always make their debut with a goal, or purpose in mind and will be, if their player renounce them, be available for use to all those who wish it starting in the next tale, that they may be a major character in it or only mentioned in passing. That make it possible for this to continue on even if many players leave the rp, and make it so newcomers can try their hand at the world with 'pre-made' characters to get a feel of the whole thing.
Secondly, while multiple tales can be ongoing at the same time, it would be preferable to not spread ourselves too thin, so a at least four people must be interested in doing a tale for it to be allowed and made 'canon' to the world. That doesn't mean 1x1 can't happen to shape new characters, though!
Thirdly, since the tales are to be short and to expand the world and it's inhabitants, I would prefer this to be either Casual or Advanced depending on the needs of the tale.
Finally, while I understand this is an ambitious project, I would really like that all of you interested would pitch in in this project, starting with the setting.
I hope to have attracted your attention, and await eagerly your opinion!
id be willing to give this a shot. i would kinda like to have this casual
I would be interested in this as well, I like the concept.
Ooh, this sounds neat. So, a set of shorter RPs that all develop the world as we go along?
I'd be interested in the Casual version of this.
Casual it is, now we need to start on the basics of the world, such as setting, basic geography and basic customs as well as to set in whether or not magic would be a possibility.
well, magic is pretty much Essential in my plans, so theres my vote on that
I'm fine with magic, but it thinking we should come up with some unique system that dictates how it works rather than just the usual fantasy "Look, I can shoot fireballs!". I read this book called The Rithmatist and the magic in that book is based on specific lines and symbols drawn in chalk that was used to fight these chalk monsters or something, there's a guide to the magic system here so you can get an idea of what I mean.
I would find it interesting to have magic included in any form at all, but I'm more interested in the setting. I think it would be cool to have it be fairly mountainous and generally rough, making travel by road the best option in most situations. Something a bit like Skyrim but maybe not as cold.
Also, I would prefer it if it stayed casual as well.
Not sure I have time for this, but I'll try. This may help you with the magic issue: http://tardis.wikia.com/wiki/Quantum_mnemonics

Care if I hop on the bandwagon?
By the way, for magic systems to poach, the Wheel of Time's channeling, Dresden Files' magic(doh!) and, woe my Japanophile self, Fate/Stay Night's magecraft system are all very orderly and relatively easy to understand. For a more "it's ain't magic it's _" you can take the Sohon of John Ringo's Posleen War saga, which is basically mentats(the Dune ones) using quantum something to be reality Warpers. Changed a WWII-era cruiser into a super-dreadnought-level monster space ship with boobs that make big booms and entry bay for space fighters in "that place".
