Zayne happily listened to the two of them, happy to make their acquaintance. When Mia showed up, he smiled at the energetic female "Pleasure to meet you Mia, I am Zayne." he said to her kindly. When she mentioned the dual swords, his eyes brightened and he stood up "Id love to go, that actually sounds fun" he said to her as he put his gadget away.
I merely scoffed at the guy before walking off toward the 3D testing area. I had not gone there yet and figured now would be the best time. "Well Mate, leave the jokes for the right time to make them." I said to the guy named George. I went over to the area, noticing another person there, cool hair. "Hey" I said without looking at him, but at the testing gear.
George felt that while it was nice to be making friends his stomach was calling, he addressed the entier group when he spoke. "Now it's nice to meet you guys and all but me and my sister here are heading inside to grab something to eat."
Liz looked at George confused, "we are?"
George nodded and grabbed his sisters shoulder, "yep we are, see you guys" he said as he dragged Liz through the door of the mess hall. "Alright Liz go sit down I'm going to grab some food." His sister nodded at him and want to sit down at a table near the back of the room.
"Now to get some food" he said to himself while rubbing his hands together.
"Umm, nice to meet you all, I'm Leandra." I said after everyone introduced themselves. "Sure, let's go. Sounds interesting." I said to Mia, it seemed like I would make some friends while I was on all this. I felt a little hole in my stomach, after all, I was the only survivor among my friends when Wall Maria fell. A newly found motivation filled me. "Yeah! Let's go! I wanna test out those swords." I took the lead and left the group, I think Mia will follow me, but if she doesn't then I'll just train alone.
Focusing hard, Garret was able to stay upright on the 3D Maneuver Gear simulator. His brows were furrowed in concentration and drenched in sweat from the burning sun; after training in some of the other grounds (including a sparring match with Misaki Riko, where he managed to subdue her.), Garret was already quite tired. After remaining stationary for about five minutes, the instructor stopped the test. "Excellent work. I expect better results in the future. Understood cadet?" He said. "Yes sir!" Garret replied. He then saluted the instructor before walking away. The 3DMG is the only effective weapon against a Titan. If I am to have any hope of surviving out there, I need to master it. He then noticed one of his classmates from the 97th Trainees, Mia Solich, was it?, sign up for an attempt on the Maneuver Gear simulator.
The female cadet performed quite well, even swinging around even though it wasn't a training requirement. When she finished, she skipped off to the rest of the training grounds. She is quite impulsive, but she is certainly skilled. Perhaps I should ask her advice later... Garret thought.
He proceeded to walk back to the barracks where he spotted a group of people were conversing. He noticed it was more of his classmates from the 97th. Zayne Herodise, George Windsor, Elizabeth Windsor, Hiromo Nakase, Leandra Faustine... They seem to be happy except for Hiromo...Will I die before they do? Or will I have to watch them get devoured... Now is not the time to think of such things. I must focus on training or I WILL die out there. Garret thought as he lowered his head and went towards the building.
He spotted Misaki glaring at him as he entered the barracks. Garret looked back neutrally. I suppose she's still sore over her defeat... She needs to organize her priorities; Titans are the only enemy here. He thought as he turned his eyes away and walked to his bed.
He went over to his bag near his bed, where he pulled out a canteen of water and a cloth. He wiped the sweat off his face before drinking from the canteen. He savored the water as he knew the Drill Instructor would push them to the brink of exhaustion given the chance.
I smiled at the boy, and the girl named Leandra. I smiled as she began to march off to the dual sword training sight, and I waived the boy to come with us, I trotted until I caught up by her side and put my arm around her shoulder, I was only 5'3 but that made me a lot more agile with weapons. "This is great, don't you think? After training with these guys, they won't stand a chance!" I said as I threw my fist in the air and gave out a victorious laugh as we made it to the line where we would all be assigned our blades and handles to attach to our 3D maneuvers. The man had showed me what to do if my blades were to become blunted, and the two triggers that engaged the maneuver. I smiled and bowed and made my way to the training place, I stood in the back for the two to catch up. This is where they teach you how and where to to slice the Titan so it can't regenerate, even though we all knew it was the nape of the neck each level of Titan was different.
"One…two…and three," Graham muttered under his breath, releasing the man he had trapped under an arm-lock. Graham stood up, extending his hand for his fellow combatant to shake. "Good game!" His opponent scowled, growling under his breath as he turned and stomped away, clenching his fists angrily. Frowning at the display of hostility, Graham sighed and ran a hand through his brown hair. The people here were so serious; many of them couldn't accept a loss if it was breathing down their necks. And, well, to put it frankly, a lot of people here sucked.
Of course, sparring against other people was arguably pointless; Graham couldn't really see himself pinning down a titan with a headlock, for example. However, Graham felt that it exercised his body as well as his mind. Graham eyed a somewhat familiar blue-haired cadet walking towards the training field. Graham had watched him spar against a fellow cadet; the blue-haired boy was quite competent, if he remembered correctly. Throwing on a grin, Graham approached the blue-haired boy amicably. "Would you care to spar?"
I smiled and caught up with the girl as we made our way to the training site. I looked over at the other areas, seeing that boy Himoro about to practice the 3DMG. He seemed pretty lone wolfish, couldnt help but pity him. I caught up with Mia and Leandra, introducing myself to Leandra as I did. "So, how was training this morning for you two? I never thought we would have to do so many exercises in my life!"
I was hooked up to the testing gear and heard the command to raise me up. Up I went, and I could feel the shift in weight go to my core. That was the secret to having a good center of balance, a great core. Luckily I had that, and I was able to keep my balance rather easily. I was set down and marked off for passing as I made my way back to the barracks.
George came back carrying two bowls of soup and bread, as he approached the table where Liz was sitting he noticed she had began standing up.
"Where are you going?" He asked her?
Elizabeth seemed frantic "I've lost it,the locket mum gave me I'm going to check if it's in my bunk."
George nodded in understanding "ok Liz but hurry up your or your soup is going to get cold."
She quickly ran back out the door of the building and ran to the barracks proper which contained the beds, she opened the door and walked briskly through the building. She noticed Garret she thought his name was drinking from a canteen, but she paid him no heed she had to find the locket. She made it to her bunk which was near Garret and quickly started rummaging franticly though her bag trying to see if it was there.
Not only did Mia caught up with me, but also Zayne. I smiled at this. I felt cozy. It just felt like if nothing had actually happened at Wall Maria. Maybe I can stay like this and not worry about the titans? Maybe entering to the Military Police and have everything in my life solved? Not ever seeing a titan again? That was clearly not an option. "Those ugly monsters won't even know what hit them!" I raised my hand as Mia had done just a while ago. "It was tiring, but that's just the start, I think. Things will get a lot more complicated after today." I said to Zayne. Other things were in my head and I didn't really had a trouble with the first day of training.
After arriving to the dual sword training the guy explained everything to me. Where to cut, how to cut and lastly how to escape from a titan using my blades. He gave me a pair of blades. "Thanks!" I said and set off running after Mia. "So, what now?"
The gear was a little heavier than I thought they would be... perhaps I could make some modifications once I got my own personal set. I looked at the blades that I held, wickedly sharp, and very deadly. I felt dangerous with them. I smiled as I muttered "Lets see those titans come at us now."
I walked into the barracks to see a lot of other people already eating. I sighed, hoping I could get some privacy finally, but that wasnt going to happen. I grabbed my food rations, soup and a roll, and made my way to the far end of the table where I began to eat in silence. I looked over at all the people chatting, smiling at their company. Did I envy them? Well... yes actually...
