A Homestuck Roleplay
You wake up to the same dull and boring life you always have lead, yet you have a strange hunch that today is going to be slightly less dull and boring. You can't quite put your finger on it, that is until you stare at your calendar. Today, on the 13th of April, you are expecting a package to arrive in the mail. A package containing your long awaited copy of the Sburb Beta. You and your group of internet buddies have been awaiting this for months, and now you all have the chance to play the game of a lifetime. Sburb is the next level in reality simulators. Once a connection is established between the player and their server player (Another user who operates the games in-built systems and functions), the game lets you manipulate the reality around you. You can't wait to see the unlimited potential of your youthful creativity, as well as being able to see into the lives of your internet friends for the first time. When you think of all the fun you're going to have, the consequences of initiating a Sburb session don't even seem to bother you.
That's right, the consequences. Unfortunately the manufacturers of Sburb seemed to have left out a little warning of what the game has install for you. Prolonged exposure to Sburb can cause headaches, nausea, the apocalypse, property damage and stern fatherly disapproval. Did I stutter? I said the apocalypse. Yes, you and your friends just ended the world, congratulations. Don't worry though, it happens to the best of us. Somehow, this wasn't worth the months long wait. Don't worry though, because Sburb has many built in functions that will probably help you escape impending doom. So say 'sayonara' to this floating rock in the middle of space because the countdown has started and the real game is about to begin.
a Sylladex is a compact inventory most people use to carry around multiple items at once. This is represented by two decks of cards; the Captchalogue Modus, letting you carry around everyday objects inside the Captchalogue Cards. The Strife Specibus is a deck which holds groups of weapons, allowing them to quickly be drawn when needed. Sylladex's are optional, but the Captchalogue and Strife Specibus cards interact with many of the Sburb gadgets which are provided by your server player. Every card has a distinct code on the back of it, copying down the code and sending it to another player will allow them to alchemize the object placed inside that card. Strangely enough, your copy of the Sburb Beta came with a punched captchalogue card. A punched card means that the object inside cannot be retrieved, but can be duplicated with alchemy. Whatever you do, do not lose this card.
Every character in this roleplay is going to be the server player to another character, this is inevitable. A server player is absolutely essential in helping your buddies survive the end of the world. Once characters are made we can decide the server players for one another. Essentially, the server player has full access to the reality of their pals home and is responsible for converting the grist (Think material/mineral) their player collects into either cool new gadgets the game provides or use it to create building blocks in which to expand their players environment. The main gadgets a server player is responsible for deploying are;
The Cruxtruder - A device in which the server player can deploy immediately. When activated by the player, the Cruxtruder produces a Cruxite dowel which can be shaped and used in the alchemization process. The player can make as many of these Cruxite Dowels, which usually appear as a brightly colored cylinder, as they want. Additionally, when first activated the Cruxtruder will produce a Kernelsprite; a glowing orb that follows around the player making inaudible noises. The Kernelsprite must be protoyped by either yourself or your server player. Prototyping the Kernelsprite means to throw any object or living being into it to create your Sprite, which will come into player later. Also, once the Cruxtruder is activated a countdown will begin on it, usually signifying when your area will be impacted by the apocalypse. This is your timer, you and your server player need to cooperate together to save you before this runs out.
Totem Lathe - A device which is used to carve Cruxite Dowels into various shapes. Once a pre-punched Captchalogue card is placed in the device, as well as a Dowel, the device will carve the dowel based on the punch holes in the card. The carved Cruxite Dowels can be used in combination with the Alchemiter to alchemize weapons, outfits and other items for the player to use.
Alchemiter - A large device consisting of a small pedestal and then a large circular platform. When a carved Cruxite Dowel is placed onto the pedestal, the device scans it and creates an object through alchemy. Some objects will cost Grist to alchemize.
The dimension Sburb allows its players to escape to once the end of their world has begun. It consists of The Medium, an empty void of space where the players individual planets dwell. At the center of the Medium is Skaia, where the battlefield between the White and Black kingdom resides. The White Kingdom resides on Prospit, a golden planet that orbits Skaia and is ruled by the White Queen. The Black Kingdom resides on Derse, a dark planet that rests near the furthest ring of the Medium. Any player who is destined to enter the Incisphere is born with a Dream Self, which rests on one of these two planets. Prospit Dreamers are able to look into the clouds of Skaia, which give vague foresight into the future. Derse Dreamers are able to hear the whispers of the Horroterrors, beings who live beyond the furthest ring and offer advice to players.
Upon entering the Medium, every player is given their own planet. The name and environment of the planet depend on the players Classpect and personality. An example of a planets name is John's planet from the comic - the Land of Wind and Shade. Most planets follow this naming format. This is where your house is transported to when you enter the Medium. Upon entering, the Sprite you prototyped will begin to act as your guide, informing you of what must be done. The enemies you find on your planet will have a similar form to the thing you prototyped (So if you prototype your cat, the enemies will appear as felines).
The role you play in the story, usually taking the form of The X of Y (E.G. The Heir of Breath, The Witch of Space etc). For more details on choosing your Classpect for your character, please feel free to browse this post. Let me also say here that if another roleplayer uses a certain Aspect or Class for their characters role, that does NOT mean you aren't allowed to use that for your character. We can have more than 1 Space player if you want, or more than 1 Knight, don't go out of your way to change your character because someone is already using a Class or an Aspect for theres. At least try and keep it diverse.
Alright, so a lot of the above information is mainly here because I assume anyone who has read homestuck has forgotten a lot of these little details that were in the first and second acts. It's also for the benefit of roleplayers who aren't very big fans of the comic but still want to be apart of this roleplay. Some of it is probably missing or inaccurate, and I'm sorry for that but even with the help of Mspaint wiki it's still really hard to get all of it down. Essentially, the premise for this roleplay is very similar to the start of homestuck. Us, the roleplayers, will play a bunch of internet buddies (Relationship statuses can vary depending on characters, we don't ALL have to be total strangers). To keep it simple; we play the game, end the world, oops, we help save each others ass and get into the medium. I'm not gonna lie, the first part of this roleplay may be very standard, no big action packed plot twists or anything like that. Our first priority IC should be to save each other as well as a little character interaction here and there.
We can start the roleplay assuming that everyone already knows what they need to do to enter the medium, since idk how many people are gonna sign up for this so I don't want it to take too long. But we can have some dramas here and there (One of you can play the dimwit who accidently throws his punched card out the window or has his mail stolen by an annoying sibling). It should be obvious that there won't be any God Tiers at the start, but we can get to that. If you don't know what a God Tier is, you'll learn eventually.
Hopefully some of you will be interested in this, I've just had the urge to be in a homestuck roleplay for a while. Unfortunately I was preoccupied with other stuff these pasts months and wasn't able to roleplay. But now I'm free and I wanna get this started. I know the premise isn't very interesting, but I assure you that stuff will happen.
Just gonna bump this a little bit ^^
Also, glad to see you're interested.
Is there anyone else who is interested? we really only need 4 players to start us off
if we get 1 more person interested then I can make the ooc. Hopefully we'll get some more players there ^^
Awesome, I'll make the ooc tomorrow
Oooh man, I know you probably don't want too many players but I just wanted to post to express interest.
no such thing as too many players~ Ima start working on the OOC.
