King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table (OOC and Character Creation)
The Story of King Arthur is known to everyone, but what really happened? Was Arthur the great king of legend we all think him to be, or was he a mortal man, with his own flaws and imperfections? And who were his Knights? Lancelot, Galahad and the others are just as famous as their king, but millenia and translation may have obsured who they really are. And what of Mordred? The stories say that he is a monster, but was he truly? Sit down, and I shall tell you the tale as it really was.
Essentially, this is an RPG where the players will take the role of the Knights of the Round Table. You can either create your own knight (or peasant, lady, priest or what have you) or play one of the established ones, such as Lancelot, Gawain and Kay. As knights, you will go on quests, battle monsters, duel other knights and serve your realm and your king. The game will start off immediatly after young Arthur pulls Excalibur from the stone and sets the realm against itself. The players can either be boyhood friends of Arthur or knights later recruited by him.
In the beginning, the realm is at a state of Civil War. King Uther united the land, but when he died, all of the lords under him immediately started squabbling among themselves. With Arthur's emergence as Uther's heir, the squabbling has moved on into open warfare. In the south, Arthur and his few supporters secure their power base, while two factions in the north, one under King Urien of Rheged and the other of King Lot of Orkney war with each other.
Also, if anyone has any questions or concerns, please send me a message.
Name: King Arthur Pendragon
Occupation: Squire and King of England
Description: Light brown hair, stubble, tall and gawky
Personality: Naive, in over his head, but strong willed and foolishly brave.
Weapons: Excalibur, a suit of hand-me-down armor from his adopted father Sir Ector
Relations: Sir Ector (Surrogate Father), Sir Kay (Surrogate Brother), Merlin (Mentor)
History: The bastard son of Uther Pendragon, Arthur was raised by Sir Ector, who taught him the basic principles of knighthood. When Arthur accidently pulled the sword Excalibur from the Stone (placed their by Uther in his dying moments) he sets the land on a course for civil war, with various lords throwing their lots with either him or his chief rival, King Lot of Orkney.
Arthur's father, Uther Pendragon, received the blessing of the Lady of the Lake, as well as the sword Excalibur, when he made a deal with Merlin. Uther would conquer the realm, but his first born son would be given to Merlin. Uther agreed and brought the entirety of Britain under heel, but was mortally wounded during an ambush. Merlin, honoring the deal, took the infant Arthur and placed him under the care of Sir Ector.
At first glance, the sword appears to be normal, even plain looking. But when held in the grips of it's rightful owner, it glows a faint white and hums quietly. In battle, the sword cuts a mighty swath and makes a mockery of even the hardest armor. It will be strong so long as Arthur is strong and will help the Squire King remake the realm into one of peace and fellowship. This sword was once used by Uther Pendragon, a brash but valorous king. When he fell, he used the last of his strength to drive the sword into a heavy and deep seated stone. There it stayed for 17 years, until it was pulled by the young Arthur.
Again, if anyone has anything they want to add or change, ask me and I'll listen. Other than that, Have Fun and Good Questing.
And we're bumping
Name: Sir Fredrick Adolphus
Occupation: Knight of the Round Table
Description: Bearded, 6"6, Built very well, but has several small scars on his face and a recovered wound on his neck.
Poleaxe (2H), Longsword (1H)/Kite Shield (1H). Weaker with bows, throwing knives, completely inexperienced in magic. Average with a Crossbow. Armored Up- with an alias as "The Trident" being coined for the suit. A very heavily armored suit of armor, mainly comprising of thick steel full plate that makes it almost impenetrable, combined with chainmail in the armpits and hip for movement mobility as well as underlying reinforcement- being a very, very finely crafted suit of armor fit for a Knight of the Round Table and Fredrick's pride and joy as one of the best and latest designs. Mainly designed for jousting, it has a practical use in combat due to Fredrick's strength, and in itself, is an awesome sight. (BTW, replace the yellow/blue with blue/red as well as the fleur-de-lis with the three lions on the horse/armor in order to be much more English-representative, rather than French :D )
His steed (Marcus) is a black, Czech horse, and is a strong, developed breed, being able to carry Fredrick into the fight fully armored and equipped when needed.
Relations: Arran Adolphus (Father), Gloria Adolphus (Mother), ......... (Duelling Partner (to be filled, this could be Arthur or could be someone else in the RP)
History: A fearless bastard with a sturn sense of chivalry, who is the son of a Germanic merchant, Arran Adolphus. However, Fredrick's path was different when his mother died (who gave him some English blood), and he decided to become a Squire, and upon the age of 21, a Knight- open to the services of the King. He became renowned for being fearless in combat, and though not as cunning and talented in planning on how to accomplish something, he was a very formidable man to have at hand when there was a fight on and deal with a problem. He became a famous jouster, and enjoys crafting his combat skills to be refined with the other knights in duels and hand-to-hand combat. He is however, not just brutal- he has the traits of chivalry which all Knights adhere to, and stays to these policies of valor and honor. However, sometimes, he may drift from this, and become too violent or extreme in dealing with human threats of which may build tensions with the King at points. On the whole however, he is a formidable man, and has good traits of courage and valor when there's threats beyond human recognition. He came to Camelot on request of King Arthur, and is the man who taught him, and Kay, how to fight- being a Vassal Knight within the isles. He remains good friends with the two, and isn't afraid to get stuck in when teaching- being loyal and truthful to Arthur.

She has now returned to the city of Camelot and has already regained her position as the spymaster, self-titled Inquisitor.
Name: "The Great Dayne" Vestor
Occupation: Apprentice-Inquisitor of the Church, former sellsword. Right hand of Liliana.
Personality: Intelligent, cunning, quick with his blades and above all, loyal to Liliana. He loves working with Liliana and doing her dirty work. He enjoys torturing his victims especially, but he is never as elated as when a Heretic to the Church wants to fight back. He is as sick and underhanded as they come, all while keeping the pretense of being a righteous Hand of the Church.
Weapons: A side-sword and a main-gauche are his preferred dueling weapons, although he carries a hand-held crossbow loaded on his hip and around twenty extra bolts at all times. He also keeps a dirk in his boot.
Relations: Right Hand of Liliana (Master)
History: Dayne Vestor was born of noble parentage in Camelot. He was confirmed in the Church at a young age and studied for a small time, gaining some useful education and articulation skills. He left the Church behind during his teenage years, instead learning the ways of swordsmanship, driven by mercenarism and a sick lust for harming others. He became quite skilled, becoming known for his exquisite technique and almost unmatched technique with his blades. Titling himself "The Great Dayne," he sold his skills to whomever would pay well enough, often coming close to outright assassination. This was all until he met Liliana, Inquisitor of the Church. He at once recognized a kindred spirit, and after offering his services, devoted himself to her and her goals with fanatic zealotry. She repaid him by teaching him the ways of poisons and torture. His self-given title was almost ironic , for those who hated him called him "The Dog of the Church." But only behind his back.
