Thomas awoke with his grunt, cool wind blowing across his face and stirring him out of his dreamless sleep. And that wasn't cool, as his head pounded with the force of a jackhammer. He grabbed at his head in pain, but quickly drew back as he saw the claws that were his hands. What the hell? His gaze frantically darted about, taking in all the changes, the white and black feathers, the larger wings under his arms, the clawed feet. He felt panic rising in his throat. This was a joke right, it had to be. How the hell was he some twisted version of a bird? Even his eyes hurt, his vision sharper and able to pick out details he would never have before.
He glanced around, trying to figure out where they were, and what the hell had happened. and it was then that he noticed he was in a glass container of some kind, like a sick display case. he head swiveled back and forth until he saw Leslie, in a similar tube, looking as confused as he was. And he could see that she was changed as well, though her changes were less drastic, now having weird ears, long red hair, and a tail.
"Leslie, are you alright," he called, not sure if she could hear him through the glass as he punch the glass, seeing it shudder a bit but otherwise unaffected. Whatever was going on here, he wasn't going to be a part of it. especially with whatever they had done to him.
Leslie gasped as she heard her name called, a little frightened at first, but calmed down when she saw Thomas across the blindingly white room. Well, she could only assume it was him... it SOUNDED like him, but he looked like an overgrown hawk of some sort. "Th-Thomas...? your a bird?" she said, having not noticed her own changes. Then it happened. she felt something fuzzy brush against her left leg "what on earth...?" she looked down, and saw she had a fuzzy orange tail, that looked like a foxes...
she looked at her reflection more closely, to see her once chocolate brown hair was now a deep scarlet color, and she had ears as well. she was flooded with energy though, like she had been injected with her favorite Starbucks coffee, so she felt giddy and pumped at the same time.
Leslie lightly set her hand on the cool glass surface, looking worried. "Tom, do you remember what happened?" she asked, one of her ears twitched from anxiety of what was going to happen to them. She squeaked when a guy in a lab coat walked up to her container, and took down notes on a clipboard, before walking off, what was this? some kind of lab? was she a test subject? would they dissect her? the questions flooded her head as she began to notice the sharp objects placed around the room, with a slight fear in her heart.
Thomas was at least relieved that they could talk across this room, and he was glad that she seemed alright besides the obvious physical changes. He nodded as she pointed out the obvious. "Yeah. I don't suppose you'd happen to know if this is a dream or not," he replied, but it was obvious she wasn't listening for the moment, having finally realized her own changes and looking them over for herself.
He shook his head in denial. No, his memories were just as fuzzy as hers were. But it seemed the time for talk was over as a man in a lab coat entered the room, walking up to Leslie and writing some notes before moving off. A chill ran through him as he realized what this must be. Great, so he was some sick science experiment. Just his luck. "We have to get out of here,' he said after the man had left. Of that, he was certain.
Leslie looked up to Thomas, with a brave face, since she always shoved all her doubts aside. it was the face she showed the other kids "yeah, your right... we need to--" she cut herself off as she thought of an idea, if one could get out, they could save the other. And she knew just how to do it. She covered her mouth, going into a coughing fit, as she started "choking" from the lack of air. she continued her little charade as doctors filed in, and messed with stuff as they struggled to figure out the problem.
Leslie inwardly smirked, so her intuition was correct. they needed them alive, and weren't willing to let them die so easily. She fell on her knees, leaning against the glass, her eyes dull as is she were dying. "Quick! This one is losing air!" they shouted, and the glass door on the pod opened up.
Leslie slipped between they're legs, before grabbing a scalpel and stabbing one in the leg to buy her some time. 'I knew it was a good idea to train in martial arts~' Leslie thought happily as she ran to Thomas' pod "shit, I don't know how to open it..." she informed him sadly, well there went her plan...
(I give you permission to control Leslie a bit, and use her to free Thomas, because I figured I'd let you free your character in your own way :p)

(omigod, I just realized I failed big time on the thread name DX I was thinking of your character!! uwah!)
(Heh, it's alright. I think you can edit that though if you choose the "Go Advanced" Option when editing the OP.)
Thomas was about to start voicing ideas, when Leslie cu off her agreement, grabbing at her throat and coughing, like she wasn't getting enough air. and that was enough to get him panicked. "Leslie, are you alright? Leslie," he yelled, bashing on the glass as he was forced to watch on with horror. Were they killing her? why? Was he going to be next?
But it seemed his fears were misplaced as the room filed with scientists, trying to figure out what was going on. and he realized what was happening before they did, and so calmed down some as she sprang to life, stabbing one of the scientists before running over to his pod. "It's alright," he relied, his calm demeanor returned. And they didn't have much time. He glanced around, looking for some idea of what to do. and then he got it. "Go over to the console, and hit the release button,' he said.
Leslie nodded, and stepped up to the console, tapping the screen and bringing up a box to type. "It needs a code," she told him sadly. fortunately, Thomas had a solution to that as well. "It's 0AC59GO364XXR9." Leslie typed it in, and sure enough, it worked, the container opening up with nary a sound. "How did you know that," she asked as he stepped out. "Eagle vision," he replied succinctly. "Now, let's go." Of course, there were still the scientists to deal with...
(oh, thanks XD)
Leslie rolled her eyes "of course" she said, laughing a bit. She turned and saw guards rushing in "well, lets see how much mixed martial arts paid off" she uttered quietly, before charging the left side of scientists. She knocked one out with a quick high kick to the jaw, and she fluidly dodged the falling body, and criss-crossed her way through to the door, before pulling a lever that prevented any more from coming.
Leslie then turned on the guards, picking up a silver tray that had doctor tools stacked on it, and hit someone over the head with it. she did this until her side was completely knocked out. she spun around, searching the room "we need to find a map to make our way out" she said, as Thomas finished off his side. She shuffled through some papers, until she found the records of her and Thomas. She opened hers and her eyes widened at what she read;
Subject has ability to shift to a fox... our results are coming to it's peak finally
Leslie swiveled around to Thomas "Tom! take a look!" she called out as she showed him the document "what do you think they're planning? sounds like they've been doing this for awhile..." she said while continuing to examine the room, and making sure no one broke in yet
Thomas nodded as he shifted into a fighting stance. "Come at me," he growled, before leaping into the fight, claws lashed out as he spun about, leaving his mark as he practically lifted off the ground as he spun about, pushing people back as he landed hits with his claws, and even his new beak. The guards were the real challenge, the scientists not being trained to fight and going down easily.
He smoothed out his new...feathers, as he joined Leslie in looking at whatever she had found. His eyes narrowed as he read over the status reports they had on her. "What the hell did they do to us," he muttered, confused by what they meant when they said she had the ability to change into a fox. He didn't even want to look at his own reports, to find out why they had changed him like this. at least she was still human, sort of. "I don't know," he answered, looking towards the door. "But we should probably focus on getting out of here. Any ideas?" He began looking for an alternate way out, maybe an air vent they could fit through.
"air vent would be a 'No', you're definitely too big" Leslie said, as if reading her partners mind. She shuffled through some more papers, until she found a map "here's the exit... and we're in the middle of the facility..." she muttered, until she found another door that said "Keep Out".
Leslie glanced at the map, before looking at the door again "It would seem we can find an exit if we go through here... but why the sign?" she asked before picking up a metal pipe, and prying the door ajar, so she could open it fully. as she looked inside, she realized it was a old section of the laboratory that had been closed down, due to equipment problems. she looked around cautiously, before stepping inside the dark room. she found a flashlight, and turned it on. "wow, so dusty in here" she breathed, wiping dust off of some old documents.
A groan was heard in the other room, as the guards started to wake up. Leslie squeaked lightly, before pulling Thomas in, signaling for him to stay quiet "shh, we just have to get through here, and we'll be home free... more or less" she said, dismissing the fact that they were human-animal hybrids
"Your faith in me is overwhelming," Thomas replied with a smirk as Leslie shot down the air vent idea. She was getting good at that mind reading thing, and he wasn't sure if he should get worried about that or not. Maybe they were getting too comfortable with each other, or something. But no time to worry about that, what with being in some sadistic research center and all. He followed along as Leslie found a map of the facility and began looking for an exit, breaking into what looked like an abandoned part of the facility.
Thomas sneezed as the dust infiltrated his nose in spite of himself. "You think it's safe to be in here," he asked as they began sneaking their way out. "Admittedly, we don't have a choice, but this part was probably closed down for a reason." He just hoped that there wasn't some left over experiment waiting for them as they made their way further towards the exit. And sure, it might be equipment problems, but who knew what that could leave behind for them to deal with,
