Judgement of Men (Suspect x Kyrisse)
"...category three has struck the New Jersey coastline early this morning. Residents were caught unaware as there were no warning nor predictions of a hurricane hitting. Residences, commercial buildings and mobile homes were destroyed but the flooding has already receded significantly. There is a total of 132 people with minor injuries and 25 in critical care. Miraculously, there were no casualties. On other news... A viral video made by renowned scientist Kester Lyons has been circulating the internet. The video which we will be playing shows the scientist claiming that he has captured a real live angel. Is this real or some elaborate hoax?"
"Cathy, can you turn up the volume on that TV please?" an elderly man sitting in a booth with a steaming cup of coffee in his hands called out to the woman behind the counter. The woman gave a curt nod and promptly reached under the counter and withdrew a remote control. She pointed the remote control to the TV.
The TV screen focused on a man wearing a lab coat. His gray hair was messy and his spectacles were perched crookedly on his nose. Although his weathered face was tired, he had an almost manic look in his eyes, "Today is the 7th day from the angel Azrael's capture." The camera focused onto a room where a huge black metal cage was standing amidst an array of equipment. The image in the video became blurred as it focused onto the cage's occupant. It housed what looked like a man with black feathered wings but the haziness made it difficult to be certain. The camera focused back on the scientist's face and the image was once again crisp and clear. "As you all can see, Azrael refuses to show himself. No matter how many times we enhance the video, his image remains blurred." The camera focused again onto the cage. Although the cage itself was clear, the figure crouched unmoving in it was blurred and difficult to make out. The video then again focused onto Kester. "But despite his refusal to amaze the world with his glory, the fact now remains that they do exist. Angels." the man's pale blue eyes were alit with excitement. "What we once thought of as myths, what once existed only in the pages of the bible and fairy tales is real."
The video cut off and the face of the reporter was focused on screen again. "And there it is. Can we believe that Kester Lyons had really captured a real angel or is this a work of a madman driven to insanity by the loss of his wife? Reporters are currently on standby outside Dr. Lyons' laboratory waiting for a word from the scientist himself or his employees regarding this shocking video. Now, for the weather forecast..."
The small diner's handful of customers immediately began talking amongst themselves about the video they had just seen. The man who had asked to turn up the volume was the first to speak. "Awww, that's a hoax. I mean, how is it that everything except the creature he's claiming to be an angel is focused? They deliberately blurred the image so that we'd believe he actually got one of them." he waved a hand in dismissal towards the TV and turned back to his coffee. "What a waste of time." he muttered under his breath.
A woman with curly brown hair sitting on the table opposite the elderly man's was just as skeptical as he was. "Besides, how can a mortal cage a heavenly creature? It's impossible. He just wants the media's attention. Ever since he botched that last project he was on, he's been desperate for attention." the woman sitting opposite her on the table nodded in agreement.
A blonde man with bandages covering his ears was sitting in the corner of the diner. He had been watching the news silently. As soon as the diner's customers began speaking, he had turned his attention to them. "It's true. He has an angel locked in there." he confirmed.
All the occupants of the small diner turned their attention to the man.
"I was there." he said.
