Witches of Salem, OOC
This is the OOC of what will be the tales of young women arriving to Salem, Massachusetts, by boat in the time of January 1692. Weak from illness and near death, your young character will be visited by a mysterious entity at night and will be given the choice of life in exchange for the worship of her new benefactor, that it may be through simple prayers or though bloody and elaborate rituals.
The roleplay start when your character disembark the vessel she travelled inside for well over a month, filled with nausea and plagued by a mix of a deep fever and a nasty cough. Any healer of that time would have her diagnoses as lost but still, that night, a great miracle would bring her back to life and into the realm of the living once more. That miracle being a blood pact with a mysterious entity, she will be forced to hide her new allegiance from her fellow colonists, on the risk of being uncovered as a witch and burned at the stakes, as was custom. Worse still, would be exile to the dirty hands of the savages laying in wait in the surrounding forests. You would do well to thread softly.
This rp will be half a tale with myself as the narrator and yourself as the owners and creator of the main characters and half a game that I will be hosting, where you will be given two tasks a game day, one for the day and one for the night, to either complete or fail in exchange for the changing of the current time cycle for the next as well as for a betterment of your characters standing with either her benefactor or her fellow Salem citizens. Three things you will have to nurture and guard, and these are as follow:
The first, and only one where less is better, is Suspicion. Gained through suspicious activities such as making blood rituals of fraternizing with either 'savages' or pariahs, this value must never reach 10, the highest level, for fear of being found guilty of Witchcraft and either chased away into the dark surrounding forests or burned at the stake. In that state, you will have only one chance to escape to the wild lands with your life and, should you fail, this would mean death for your character. One way or another, however, it would mean game over should your character do not have a daughter to take her place.
The Second is Mysterious Favors, or Favors for short. Earned by doing task in honor of your entities, they are the main component for blessing and curses as well as a way to learn more witchcraft in exchange for the sacrifice of a portion of the accumulated Favors. You will start with no knowledge of witchcraft, and will have to build that knowledge up if you ever want to take advantage of what the entity can offer. That you use it to heal, to hurt or for a mixing of both is up to you. Be careful to never have less than five favors, however, for five is the minimum amount of favors needed to maintain the link with your Entity.
The third and final value is Credibility. A measure of your esteem in Salem, it is used mainly to either reduce Suspicions of better your witch's living conditions, from something simple like a meal to something grandiose like a new home. Like favors, Credibility is sacrificed when used, and must not reach below five for fear of becoming a pariah or worst, an outcast.
Now that the basics have been outlined, now is the time for the rules of this roleplay:
First, at least 200 words must be written, along with the advancement of the plot, in each post for it to be well received. I use your post for my own, and therefore the more thought-out and descriptive the post, the more satisfying my answer and the various events in your witch's life will be.
Secondly, I'm sorry but the characters must be female for this, that you are yourself male doesn't matter, but the character's gender is set.
Thirdly, please use a spellchecker and space your paragraphs properly. I have no desire to read through a wall of text full of typos.
Fourthly, be respectful of everyone in this thread, as courtesy can bring you a long way with me.
Finally, you must have fun, so go wild with your ideas and suggestions, I enjoy it!
Now is the Character Sheet:
(Don't feel obligated to fill up all of the following, in fact, the less (beside Mother, Father and Siblings) the better to start!)
That done, post it below and await my go ahead. Thank you!
One last thing, please put and fill up the following each time you post in the IC:
Name: Karin Liebert
Appearance: She is a small, slender girl, with a light complexion. Her sparkling blue eyes are set under long eyelashes on her heart-shaped face, with long, blonde hair falling down to rest midway past her back. Her pert nose sits above her full, pink lips, curving often into a tempting pout. Her slender neck leads down to a full chest, which juts out obviously on her little frame. Her lean stomach leads down to a trim waist, completing her hourglass figure, with a round, heart shaped rear. She skips a little with the sway of her body as she moves, with long, smooth legs leading down to a pair of dainty feet.
Personality: An enthusiastic exterior hides a thoughtful and sometimes devious mentality
Prior History: Originally from a village called Totenhausen outside of Minden in Westphalia, Karin was attracted to the prospect of new life on her own in a land untouched by the class constraints of Prussia. Destined to be a millers wife, she played the role of a dutiful daughter while planning an escape; stories of wealth in America and vast lands simply waiting for the taking, she fled one day to Amsterdam where she persuaded a band of missionaries to let her accompany them. Unused to the diseases and illnesses outside her small community, she quickly fell ill and nearly died before entering into her dark contract with the otherbeing she now depended upon.
Father: Johan Liebert (No contact)
Mother: Anna Liebert (No Contact)
Sibling(s): Klara Liebert, 13 Maximillian Liebert, 8
Acquaintances: Various members of a missionary crew who dispersed upon arrival in Boston
Karin is accepted, just remember that the Value are only added to an In Character thread, and at the start all will be at zero. :)

By the way, Splen, are the values easier to understand now? I tried to be more clear when it came to them.
I'm glad to hear that.
By the way, I forgot to mention that you will be able to choose the type of task that you want, that it be either to lower Suspicion, heighten Favors or gain Credibility.
Name: Meredith Withers
A petite, curvy woman with honey coloured hair done up in a loose braid, and faint freckles dotting along her face. Her eyes are brown; her skin is a healthy peachy…
A friendly sort, enjoys cooking simple sweets at home alone, but ditzy and easy to fool as well at times. If it were not for her husband, she’d probably give all of her personal belongings to a random swindler. However, she is surprisingly good at keeping secrets, lying...and it takes a certain special phrasing and know how to coax the truth out of her, if you can ever tell she has a secret or has been lying.
Marrying a man six years younger than her, others often joked that she enchanted him using magic, since he seemed too well to do and good looking for a woman past her pride age…but the truth of the matter is, they were brought together by a promise between their parents, and not by love. Meredith is going to America to finally live alongside him, since sending letters and having him visit her in her parents’ home every few months is tiring for their parents, who really just want some grandkids already.
Father: Simon Gates
Mother: Janine Gates
Husband: Desmond Withers (23)
((Desmond Withers is a little bit more than just an normal NPC, but he won't have no role in magic...*flails arms*))
Once the IC comes up, my first task of choosing will be favor.
My girl will be working on credibility, first thing...but I'll focus on Favor after a little while.
Great! I'll bump the Interest Check some more and hopefully we will be able to start soon :).
