§ A Slice of Life! §
Nessa Highmore buttoned up her uniform--a personal choice--swiftly before double checking her appearance in the mirror. Unlike the students at Sunrise Academy, this would be her first day. Starting halfway through wouldn't be easy, but she was sure she could handle it. After all, at her last school, she had found the perfect balance between people.
After another comb through curly, blonde hair, she let her mother drive her up to the Academy. Everything that could be intimidating about high school was staring her in the face. What was waiting for her past the swirling gates? Her stomach tied itself into numerous knots, taunting the poor girl. Already she could feel herself overcome with nerves.
And the bell had not even sounded yet.
The room that Axel sat in was small and infested with smoke. He held a cigarette in his hand and relaxed back in to his chair, crossing his legs and resting them on a coffee table. "Let's play it one last time, then we have to get our arses over to the Academy," Axel nodded, lifting up a bass guitar and extinguishing his cigarette.
Axel tapped slow, melancholy rhythms in to his instrument, matching the dark noise with slow, melodic and dark vocals. An Electric guitar in the corner of the room twanged away and the piece was completed by a rickety, soothing drum beat, his band-mates (Craig and Dave) accompanying his newly written song well.
As the last note rang out, Axel slid his bass guitar down and pulled on a jacket, following Dave, his drummer, out to the band's van, which they clambered in to. "Try and get us there fast," Craig demanded as Dave took place in the drivers seat. Craig sat uncomfortably in the back whilst Axel took the passenger seat.
After a short while, they arrived at the gates. Axel hopped out. "Cheers, I'll see you guys later, then," he smirked and glanced away. Another year. He cleared his throat, taking his sunglasses off, rubbing them, and putting them on. "Might as well get this over and done with, then," he muttered to himself, approaching the gates.
Ian Darkwell was walking to school like he always does. He walked into the gate he looked at the academy and thought another day wasted in this place. He walked to the door quickly he didn't want to be in the sun any longer then he had to. As soon as he walked in he saw his friends Jasper and Drake. He walked over to them and joined in on their conversation about music almost instantly.
Jasper said that the best band was The Cure was the best band. While Drake was saying the were The Sisters of Mercy. So they asked Ian to choice the best gothic band when he walked up. He thought that they were both good but as to which was the best all he said was "To choose which is the best is all a matter of opinion. I like both bands so they are both the best." Drake and Jasper then decided that Ian was right so they agreed to disagree.
