Annalia sat against the wall, waiting for the rest of her group to arrive. normally she would fade out until they showed up, but inside the Hall of Doors time was constant, separate from the rest of the Nexus. her eyes played over the doors in front of her. one with a three triangle symbol, one with a sword, and one with what looked like a turnip painted on it. they had narrowed it down to these three doors, and would vote on it when they got together. personally, she didn't care which they picked, she just wanted to go through one. she leaned her head back and reached up to touch the pendant hanging from her neck. the small cross had been a gift from one of her few friends in the worlds beyond, and the only one who hadn't returned with her when she asked. one day she'd go back, but for now she had other things to deal with.
Jax walked down the hallway swiftly, heading towards his group agreed meeting place: The Hall of Doors. Personally, he loved the place. So much mystery, excitement, and adventure existed in the room... And it would be one of the first few times he had ever traveled. Personally, he was ecstatic. Of course he gone through doors before, but... This one wasn't just for exploring, he would get to intervene! What could be better?
In the Nexus, where it was quiet, a short whooshing noise broke the silence. A ball of some kind of energy formed in the small area of what might be space. In the small area, it seemed not only that the colors had inverted but also the space there. This was not a spacial anomaly but rather the power of one of the dimensional travelers. Out of the portal stepped a man clad in robes. Though he seemed a bit feeble and meek, the man stood tall and proud.
His name was Edward, though he insisted on being referred to as Ed. "Oh boy, I wondered how the girls are gonna be like in this universe" he mumbled to himself. The portal Ed had opened was fairly unconventional- he could have simply arrived like everyone else. After all, he had discovered that he had adopted some of the Nix's powers not a short time ago. Still, Edward preferred using his own means of dimensional travel- he was simply more comfortable with them.
Ed walked down the corridor until he was eventually greeted with a familiar but still pleasant sight- and quite a sight to behold. It was a Nix girl, 'Anna', as she likes to be called. Ed had set his eyes onto her for a while, but had been playing it subtly with no plans on making a really big move just yet. As his face was about to light up, Ed about to start a conversation with the alien-woman, he noticed something not so pleasant. It was a male of her species; the one named "Jax".
"Hey everybody" Ed said in a monotonous tone. While he was calm on the outside, a rage burned inside of him as if fueled by the power of two suns.
Walking over with a rather nonchalant expression, Chris arrived with a rather bored expression; plain rather. There was no smile, no frown, not even a wrinkle. Out of the entire group he was easily the youngest. He's seen earth a few times, but that was really all he'd visit time to time. Occasionally he was seen with different things he'd get from world currency. One of his favorite things he had picked up were books; a vast infinite source entertainment that would give him new vocabulary. He was mostly distant because of his fondness with the things of earth.
"I apologize for keeping the rest of you waiting..." he said before slightly nodding off; his mind full of imagination. In truth he'd just rather pick out a new book- or outfit. It was apparent by now he liked a rather regal look.
But quickly looking over to Ed, he could see some of his thoughts; his third eye never lied. But nor was it physical. Typical human tendencies... he thought before sitting down a bit; sitting on nothing but the air.
"Where do you plan to take us now?" He looked over to Annailia.
Vladimir calmly entered through the Gate of Nexus, where time stopped...yet flowed at the same time. This wasn't his first time going to the Hall of Doors; he'd done it many times in the pass. Either for a duty, or simply because it was required for a quest. He was pretty familiarized with it's walls. He didn't know what to think about this mission, however. He wasn't feeling particularly...nice today, not that he's ever nice, and he really wanted to sleep.
Sighing as he entered the Hall, Vladimir began the long walk. He saw Jax, but easily ignored the fellow. Wasn't his problem. Sure, they were in the same group, but Vladimir didn't really feel the need to socialize with his group members unless specifically asked for. Yes, he respected them all for their power, but he didn't really think of 'em as friends. More like friendly comrades. He passed by the boy...or man, and entered the agreed meeting place by pushing open the large doors with one hand.
He saw Annalia, but opted to go to the other side of the room and lean against the wall. Within seconds, barely audible snores drifted from the tall Nix. He heard the others enter and began talking, so he kept his ears open while also catching up on his rest.
Ivy slipped through the group of people and slid down the wall to sit beside Annalia. She didn't think anyone would notice; she had a funny way of always slipping under the radar. But she liked it.
Smoothing her short-ish blue dress over her legs, she watched as Anna fingered a small cross hanging from her neck. Looking into her eyes she could see there was a long story behind it, and by the way Anna looked pained she suspected it was a sad one. But you had to be casual about these sort of things.
"What's that?" she breathed quietly, so the others wouldn't hear.
Annalia snapped out of her trance at the question, dropping the cross and looking around. "it's nothing." she mumbled, rising to her feet. she brushed herself off and raised her voice a bit, calling attention to herself. "alright, now that everyone's here we can begin. last time we met we decided to choose between these three doors." she indicated the three she had been looking at with a sweep of her arm. "between the three, i feel the most reward can be found behind the first, with the Triangle motif, in a world called the Great Sea. unless there are any objections, we'll be going through that one." she waited a few seconds, then walked to the door and opened it. inside seemed to be the deck of a large ship, distorted as if seen at the bottom of a bowl of water. stepping through, she felt the familiar tingling sensation that always accompanied a change of worlds. instead of stepping onto the deck, she floated in a void for a while, focusing on the changes her body was going through.
the point on her ears shortened, but stayed prominent. in one hand a stone rod formed, in the other a strange claw contraption. her brown leather outfit shifted, becoming a dark blue dress with a kerchief of the same color tying back her hair. she felt the familiar weight of a bow and quiver settle on her back. she focused on keeping her Night Stalker, Grand Vision, and Wild Form abilities in her mind, as she felt the other three slip away. finally done, she closed her eyes and landed feet first on the vacant ship, seeing a large island in the distance.
Jax shrugged nd looked at the others.
"I guess we're going to The Great Sea!" He announced cheerfully, stepping forwards and gesturing to Ivy. "Ladies first?" He asked repectfully, his smile still plenty evident. He couldnt help but be excited, why woud he have any other reason not to? Brand new world brand new goup...It would be a good time, most certainly!
This was the first time Ed had ever been to the "Great Sea". In fact, he had never even heard of such a world. Perhaps it was filled with water- hence its name. The boat did some contribution in reaffirming Edward's thoughts. Though a more active thought in his mind were the inhabitants- the female inhabitants. Perhaps such a world was filled with mermaids.
Taking after Annalia, Ed stretched a little; moving around his arms, shoulders, and head; before stepping into the portal. He closed his eyes as he entered, but reopened them as soon as he could smell the salty air in his nose. His wardrobe had definitely changed and he adopted a simply vest and puffy pants in addition to some strangely pointed shoes. His arms and chest were exposed, revealing a not-so flattering sight of Edward's lack of muscle. In addition, his once messy black hair was tied back into a pony tail and his ears had slightly pointed outwards to look more like Annalia's.
Inhaling deeply, Ed took a look around. He quickly absorbed his surroundings before exhaling "Oh boy".
Yezin had been at the back of the group, easily seeing over them. He was most certainly the tallest, being able to look over all of them just by balancing on the balls of his feet slightly. He strode forward quietly and entered the door, his heart beating faster at the prospect of a new world, a seperate universe, an entire globe with which to trifle with and alter.
A tingling sensation overwhelmed his body, vibrating every part of his being. Yezin thought about none of his abilities, letting the Doors decide for him. A second later, he inhaled deeply and smelled the sea. A soft rocking swayed his body, and he identified a ship.
His eyes opened and he saw a sparkling ocean. He looked down and saw his clothes had definately altered.
His normal suit had disappeared, replaced by baggy black pants and a matching vest shirt combination, tightly fitting his body. It was in the shape of a short-sleeve shirt, but it had brown leather cords binding it in place. Yezin put a hand on a small satchel hanging from his hip, opening it to discover a collection of small brown nuts. He turned and gazed at the glittering sea, smiling at the massive blue expanse.
"It isn't called the Great Sea for nothing." He smiled. This was a new world.
He couldn't wait.
