Welcome to the Domestic Life, Doctor (private)
He was gone.
The Doctor once again left her on the shore of Bad Wolf Bay; Rose hates this specific beach with every fiber of her being.
Her final moments with the Doctor were reduced to a conversation. He couldn't allow her to travel at his side, she belonged here. Rose Tyler, his beautiful pink and yellow human, needed to move on. The Doctor knew that his time with her had reached its end. That's not to say that he didn't want her to stay with him forever, he did. Sadly, the Doctor could never promise her forever. She'd die, he'd survive. Standing there on the beach, with memories of the past flooding his thoughts, and Donna Noble by his side...the Doctor made his most difficult decision.
As expected, Rose protested his words. She refused to accept this as her fate.
"He's not you."
The Doctor's lips barely smiled, his misery apparent over this situation.
"He needs you, that's very me."
Donna spoke, breaking her silence, and tried to reason with the distraught Rose Tyler.
"Can't you see what he's trying to give you? He can't be with you forever, but he's leaving you someone who can. His greatest gift."
Donna was absolutely correct in everything she said. The Doctor's final act of love, was him. An identical man, aside from one major difference. He is human.
"Alright then," Rose called the two Doctors over, standing between them. "When I last stood here on the worst day of my life, what was the last thing you said to me?"
The Doctor smiled, "I said Rose Tyler-"
"Yeah?" Rose pushed, "How was that gonna end?"
He couldn't answer. His dark brown eyes stared down at his Rose, wishing so badly just to touch her once. To hold her hand and sooth her with lies.
"Does it need saying?"
Heartbroken and angry, Rose turned to the other man.
This man stayed in silence as well, but suddenly he dropped his lips beside her ear and whispered three words Rose thought would never leave the Doctor's mouth. Overwhelmed with emotion and fueled by adrenaline, Rose grabbed the Doctor's lapels and kissed him passionately. Arms moving around his neck and savoring every moment of the kiss. Pent up feelings finally being released, all at the words of this man. To hear those beautiful words, in his voice, was all Rose had ever wanted.
The familiar sound of the TARDIS echoed, Rose broke away from the kiss and quickly chased after the blue box...only to find it fading into the background. Her Doctor was gone. She was left standing on the beach, her mother already calling for Pete on the phone, and the man whom she had just kissed came to her side. Rose tensed, feeling his hand sliding into her own and offering a reassuring squeeze. She stayed silent, looking out to the beach with dampening eyes of green, tears threatening to fall at any moment.
